Depo provera emotional side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera emotional side effects

Avatar n tn Depo Provera is costing me my relationship with my husband. After 7 years married (today) he confessed to me to be emotionally drained... wow... that's because we never have sex. And when we do it feels to me like a job. I don't enjoy it, I want it to be over fast. I definitely NOT GETTING my next shot. I guess I'll go back to the pill =/ Being a woman is a wonderful thing, but chemical birth control *****. Good luck to the ones that keep trying.
Avatar n tn Despite what docs reassure you, please READ THE SIDE EFFECTS AND CONTRAINDICATIONS OF DEPO PROVERA ON THEIR SITE!! Here are some things you may not have been told: * antibiotics DO decrease the effect of any birth control, whether it is oral, topical, or by injection. * bleeding can and does occur during pregnancy, and esp.
Avatar f tn Ive been on the depo shot for a little over 4 years now and want to swith to the implanon implant in your arm. i havent really had any side effects from the shot since the first few months i got it except ongoing migraines all the time. i like the shot im just not planning on getting pregnant anytime soon so i figure i should change so i dont have to worry about getting the shot every few months plus im losing health insurance in a few mmonths and dont wanna have to pay for it all the time.
1891325 tn?1321126576 Depo provera's side effects: • Depression. Several studies report that these occur in less than 5% of users. But should you have a tendency or already suffering from depression then you are more susceptible to this side effect. • Emotional liability, nervousness, fatigue, depression, dizziness. One injection will likely be out in three months. Still, it depends on your muscle as it is a muscular deposit. Seems like you have premenstrual syndrome. Actually, pill 24/4 can help you with that.
Avatar n tn happyflower i feel your pain i had one baby and i went on depo............ my doctor failed to tell me about the side effects.............i took one shot last august and.... i haven't seen a period till this day............. now i'm married and i want another baby and it seems impossible.........i have gained over 50lbs and i have no sex drive.. what am i supposed to do know??
Avatar f tn Personally that's why think it's the worst option available because there's literally nothing you can do if you can bad side effects from it. At least with the pill or the IUD or whatever else you can stop taking it or remove it and things get back to normal pretty quickly. But the shot takes a long time to work it's way out of the body.
Avatar n tn Has anyone experienced any bad side effects from the hcg shots? I am administering them myself and just want to know what to look out for.
Avatar n tn days when I can barely function and have also experienced symptoms of hypoglycemia and panic attacks and or crying jags for no reason. I have been reading a lot about the Depo side effects some women have had and they mirror mine. I've had a thyroid test and it was fine, so I don't think that I'm diabetic. I have been trying to eat well and clense with milk thistle to try to hasten the exit of the Depo.
Avatar f tn I've been reading alot of different side effects from different people on the depo provera shot.. some that go from hair loss to joint pain, mood swings, water retention, WEIGHT GAIN ..and the list goes on and on.
Avatar n tn I recently had an Impanon removed after two years of side effects - excessive weight gain, depression, almost non-stop bleeding, no libido etc. When these symptoms didn't clear entirely after removal I was investigated further and am now being treated for Hashimotos. I'm slowly feeling much better. I'm wondering now if thyroid issues maybe the real reason some women have so many side effects from Implanon?
Avatar n tn Is it like saying just taking longer birth control pills? What are the side effects? What are the benefits? Has FDA approved? Where i can search more about Yaz? Will it affect my future plan of having a healthy pregnancy? Also, i was told if i do want to get pregnant, i should wait 6 months after taking the birth control pills. is that true?
Avatar n tn The symptoms you're feeling are also side effects of the depo so they don't tell much of anything. Take a test with first morning urine. At this point it will be accurate.
Avatar f tn I had two chocolate cysts that were around 6 cm x 6 cm x 6 cm, the size of a tennis ball. My gynecologist wants me to take depo provera until I am in menopause. I am only 41. I refuse to take it afraid of all the side effects. I agree we are almost made to feel like we HAVE to take it. My surgeon was very forceful about me having to take it. She does not know I never filled the prescription. Not even willing to take Alesse the birth control pill. I am just waiting and seeing.
1160836 tn?1332333769 My doctor thought it was enviormental (exercise, stress...etc) as I just started to go do body pump right around that time. Every cycle before that was 30-31 days to the day!! So we will see.....
Avatar n tn (not this one) Okay, now, my concern is the effcts after STOPPING yasmin. I understand that all bc pills are different and so are we women as far as side effects go. I have read postings about women who stopped taking yasmin and have experienced the following: - anxiety, panic attacks, heart palpitations and fluttering - depression - excessive weight gain - hair loss *I already have a prob. with depression, anxiety and panic attacks, so I am currently on medication.
Avatar n tn of course some people are different. I was on two shots of Depo and then went on BCP because the Depo made me bleed 3 months straight almost. Nov 04 I started BCP and then in Aug 05 I decided to stop because my husband and I were TTC. I have not had a period since Aug, except twice and that was with the help of Provera. Month after month gets frustrating. Best of Luck to you!!
Avatar n tn depo is a very touchy subject with me because i have seen so many women suffer its side effects during, after or both.....sometimes i get too emotional. plus i am gettin ready for af i think....or pg....i feel hormonal....LOL!
Avatar n tn I just got the depo shot about 4 weeks ago and my breasts will not stop hurting i get pelvic pains, and have to pee alot too they say that some of the depo shot side effects are similiar to being pregnant i dont like what the shot is doing to me can somone tell me if this is normal or could i be pregnant on depo
Avatar n tn Didn't know it was a shot which may be enough to deter me from taking it. Now you mention that the side effects and I'm wondering if I should just continue taking the pill and take my chances. My husband and I are probably going to try to get pregnant within 6-9 months, so I am trying to do a cost/benefit analysis here. I really don't want to take anything that may make my life a living hell again. Headaches-I get bad ones anyway!
1022778 tn?1251685500 I have been taking the depo provera shot for several year, and did not have a period the whole time. I stop the depo provera in January, because of the many side affects, and I decided to wait until I started my period again before I started a new birth control. I started my period today, Aug. 30, and I’m not sure what the best for me is. I was thinking about seasionique, is anyone taking this? Does it really shorten or give you fewer periods?
Avatar f tn All these symptoms look like hormonal changes due to side effects of depo provera but the possibility of pregnancy cannot be ignored. If you stop getting Depo-Provera injections, your period usually returns within 3 to 10 months but sometimes it may take 12-18 mths. You can do a urine for pregnancy test or get serum HCG test or an ultrasound uterus done from your gynecologist which are more specific tests than urine tests. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and regards.
746098 tn?1232916561 I had the same symptoms as yourself and was diagnosed with depression, i wasn't depressed it was the side effects of the depo -provera. Also if you do ever plan on having kids it could take up to years after coming off of this pill for your body to regulate. I regret ever taking this for of contraception as my body is still completely messed up. Hope this helps!!
10228675 tn?1423885056 I don't trust any of the birth controls besides the pill they all seem to have bad side effects and I always hear bad experiences with them. But I don't trust the pill to prevent pregnancy so I have no idea what to do either!
Avatar n tn I went with the Depo-Provera shot, and my only side effects, besides being hungry more often (but I get fuller faster, so it balances out), is that I'm a little more depressed (but I was already prone to depression before the shot). The ultimate goal is to not have a cycle, so the endometrial tissue, both where it should be and where it shouldn't be, doesn't bleed, so no scar tissue, etc. From what I've heard, if there's no blood flow to the endo, then it can actually shrink.
1000392 tn?1294097512 I've been crying myself to sleep for the past 3 weeks now. This idea of giving endo patients Depo Lupron is a mistake. Who in their right mind would think it's normal to put a 23 year old in menopause?! So now I have to go through menopause not once but twice? Why is it that a doctor can give you 2 options to "cure" the endo... have a baby or get a hysterectomy?! Especially when you've been told that you will not have children. Endo is a slow emotional killer.
202436 tn?1326477933 So I'm wondering if Anger or something like this is one of the side effects also. I Live in Columbus, GA. But I am from San Diego, Ca.. I HATE THIS PLACE. No beach, Some of the people here are so judgemental. Anyways I also Excersise everyday at Golds Gym, And NO MATTER what I do I CANT LOSE A D*** lb! What is wrong with these medicines??
Avatar n tn I also didn't know if I was up to the emotional side-effects as I tend to be a little anxious at times. I did a lot of research and decided the risks outwieghed the benefits. I had a lot of endo and my surgery was very complicated. I needed a bowel resection due to endo and later needed another when it was discovered during a hernia repair one year after the surgery.
Avatar m tn I want a second opinion, does this seem like the correct treatment. I am afraid of the side effects of this drug. I also want to get pregnant in about 1 year, if possible. Has anyone else here gone through this, and what worked for them?
1700041 tn?1306983907 Condoms break, come off, and can be compromised. Relying solely on them is a big gamble. 2. Hormonal BC has risks and side effects and does not protect you from the first day you start it in most cases. The pill for example takes a minimum of 7 days to offer protection against pregnancy. So prepare in advance and do some research on what kind of BC you want to use. Most doctors will recommend BC pills or Depo Provera Shots for young girls.
796506 tn?1370191905 m now on my fourth round of clomid (i have pcos), i hope you have a better time than i did.. on 50mg i really didn't have any side effects, but 100mg and 150mg is horrible. hot flashes, nausea, and i was not pleasant to be around. however on the positive side... two of my friends also took clomid, one got pregnant after one month with no side effects, and they other got pregnant the second month. the success rate is high you just have to deal with the side effects.
