Depo provera side effects on fetus

Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera side effects on fetus

Avatar n tn Despite what docs reassure you, please READ THE SIDE EFFECTS AND CONTRAINDICATIONS OF DEPO PROVERA ON THEIR SITE!! Here are some things you may not have been told: * antibiotics DO decrease the effect of any birth control, whether it is oral, topical, or by injection. * bleeding can and does occur during pregnancy, and esp.
Avatar n tn The docotors believe I may have a progesterone problem due to Depo Provera. I was on Depo for 6 years and went off the shot in Sept. Does anyone know if the effects of this shot can linger and cause lower progesterone levels?
Avatar n tn C in June 2013 now its almost Aug 2013 and i am still bleeding.. hate the depo... if i had known the ACTUAL side effects. I'm due for my nxt shot in sept. but im not gonna get it... i want another baby i have 3 kids 2 m/c :/ what would my odds be for carring to term.... 2 d&c procedures i had my 1st m/c then i got pg with my youngest who will b 4 n nov. then another m/c in june 2013... what r the odds for having another m/c with depo chances are higher????
Avatar n tn Hi, You were asking about side effects. I haven't had any negative ones. The diet has been very easy for me. The HCG controls the appetite. I make 64 oz of herbal & green tea mix and drink that daily before 1 pm and then switch to water and drink as much as I can up to another 64 oz averaging between 80-120 oz per day. Buy a postal scale to weigh your food the food scales aren't accurate enough. The food you're allowed is very limited not only in amount but in selection.
Avatar f tn I will never go on Depo Provera again. My daughter was on Depo Provera at college, and discontinued the shot and has lost that weight and is thin again.'s free site has helped me keep up with my carb intake, and also tells me how many calories, how much fat etc. I use. It does this automatically when I put my food in for the day. Also Magic Bus has a forum where you can learn how to lose weight quick and even post on a challenge to keep you honest and responsible.
1160836 tn?1332333769 The pages keep continuing on and on... just so you dont have to make new ones sobie... Rain- sorry about your baby and that you're going through all these symptoms.. the hormone changes, hot & cold flashes, dizzy spills, neaseua- ALL SUCK. I have had them all the last 2 rounds of clomid, I am 6days post 100mg clomid, I think? and just waiting for that +OPK. Keeping positive for everyone and my self. lots of baby dust to all you girls!!
Avatar n tn As long as you are on Depo, there is no amount of exercise, pill, weight loss shots, and caloric restriction that will help lose weight. Really. The hormones from the Depo put you in a permanent false state of pregnancy. This means you will hold water, fat, etc because your body has been given a hormone that kicks in to cause a primitive instinct to help the fetus survive, even though there is no fetus! It also changes your body chemistry.
Avatar n tn Because on the 11th I believe I started ovulating (this is the first time since I quit the depo) and I am wondering if the combination of the pill, and the provera the hospital put me on kind of shocked my body back into normalcy. My partner and I want to have a child, and I am just wondering if it is likely that I could ovulate and get pregnant while on the pill since I haven't even been on it that long.
Avatar m tn and according to the testing, the whole ovulation thing is going fine, so even a decade+ of being on the depo didn't have an adverse effect on her system from what they can see. I'll be honest, though ... if I hadn't been on depo and known how I tolerated it *before* getting dysautonomia, would I make the same decision now? I don't know. It's a commitment, because once it's injected you can't just un-inject it. Each dose lasts 3 months.
Avatar n tn I was getting confused on when my period actually started. Did it start when I started seeing brown spotting or did it start when I saw the bright red blood? I called my GYNO and spoke to the nurse. She said your period starts when you see the brownish spotting. This is considered the start of your period. My last period started on August 5th. On August 31st in the afternoon, I noticed brown spotting. This brown spotting has been very light.
Avatar f tn i wouldn't worry about switching, but you should def read up on what the pill does why they say it is 99% accurate, it really isn't there is always a chance you can become become preg and ovulate. Read this article i found, the only reason i looked into it was because i had a 1 week mc, they call it a chemical pregnancy. I believe since the pill was still in my system is aborted the baby, by not letting it implant.
280700 tn?1210287416 SOOOOOO exciting!!!!!! Hope all goes 10% perfect! ;) Quick question for ya, did you have very many side effects on clomid? I'm supposed to start it tonight, & I'm a bit nervous!
Avatar n tn Interestingly, there are many many documented side-effects of Depo-provera (just take a look at their web-site for possible complcations), yet it is approved by the FDA. As I said, the presence of HCG in the human body is used as an INDICATOR for pregnancy. HCG has been found in EVERY human tissue, also in males and non pregnant females. 2. The FDA "says so": The FDA also gives speed to our kids in the form of Ritalin.
Avatar n tn and had it taken out because i was getting irritable very easily and moody i was on the copper IUD and was told there was no side effects my question is how true is this statement . i just want to find out if there is a link between all of the sympyoms and if any to the birth control .
Avatar n tn Massive doses of birth control pills (which we don't want, because of all the side effects), or to take Provera, which is a hormone. We chose the Provera. Last night I took the last pill... I was told to take it for 5 days and then I should start my period again. She said if this period lasts longer than 2 weeks to come back. I haven't started up again yet, but it hasn't even been 24 hours since my last dose. So hopefully this turns out well.
Avatar n tn BUT BEFORE i had the IUD put in, i was on the Depo Provera... which is the shot form of birth control that lasts three months... i have had constant yeast and bacterial infections since i have been on the shot. Now i am on the IUD, and they both use the same hormones. this is just great (sarcastically speaking) to hear all of this about the IUD as well. i was really hoping after MANY (too many to count) years of dealing with the constant infections that my problems are not going to go away.
Avatar f tn It took a while to heal from the surgery, and they put me on Depo Provera in the hopes that It would extend the time in which it would grow back. I'm 26 years old and nervous about taking the depo because children are something I plan on one day....a few articles I've read say, there is a chance ovulation will not return if you are taking this kind of bc. which makes me want to get off of it for sure. any advice??
Avatar n tn The reason the bleeding stops is because the lining of the uterus thins out so much with mirena that there is almost nothing that needs to be expelled during the monthly AF. On the flip side, this is also what makes it extremely difficult to get pregnant...there is nothing for the egg to implant itself in. While I would definitely consult with a doc if your symptoms are very odd, I would try and stay as calm as possible.
Avatar n tn The doc made 3 holes, one in belly button, and one on each side of my lower stomach. There is a scare on each side about an inch long. No one can see it but me and my husband. Bathing suit even covers it. If after you have your children, and still have any issues with periods I would so do that if I were you. I wish I would've done it a couple of years ago. Man I gotta say Men have it so easy don't they?
Avatar n tn ) About one year into having Mirena, my periods stopped all together. Finally I could not handle the side effects anymore, so on Oct 4 2007 I had it removed. The day after, I started a light period that lasted for 4 days. Nothing since then. If my body was going to return to a 28 day cycle, I should have started 4 days ago. I have taken 3 over the counter tests. The first one had a VERY light positive result, the other two were both imediately negative.
Avatar n tn I have been TTC for 4 months (this is currently our 5th), DH is 30 and I'm 28. Have been off Depo Provera Shot for 14 months and been having irregular periods for 10 months now. My cycle length varies from 12 - 20 days. I'm currently sitting at CD22 with no period, no cramps, bloating, or any of the AF symptoms I'm used to. Have been using OPK because of the irregular cycle length & this month ovulated on CD5 while I was still spotting from AF!
Avatar n tn I was having mild period like cramps with the brown spotting but now with the bleeding i have a pain on the left side of my pelvic region. I haven't taken a preg test yet bc i am waiting until a week after my period would normally start to get the best results. I was doing research and found that this could be a symptom of numerous things. (PID, ectopic preg, ovarian cysts, etc. ) has anyone else found out anything?
298579 tn?1192250448 The only thing I have seen that helps the pain is an herbal wrap that you heat up(you can get them @ walmart), and I lay that on my stomach. I have been on the depo shot for four years, I have asked if this is a contributing factor and have been told no. I have no kids. I hope someone comes up with an explanation, because I am too young to be giving up on my sex life!
Avatar n tn hello again both of my grandmas had children when they were 40 On my dads side she had my dad then 5 mc before she had 4 more children her last was when she was 42.
1294995 tn?1330666336 I'm so glad we finally started this new thread. It's definately a lot quicker to pull up!! And, like Owl said, we are definately beyond just the side effects. We have become each other's "shoulders to cry on" as well as good friends. God bless every one of you!! It WILL be our turn soon!!!! Well, AF showed her ugly face today. I'm actually glad because I knew by my CD21 progesterone results that this cycle was a bust. I'm so ready to get round 3 started! Hoping my dr.
Avatar n tn Well...I was just looking up my symptoms on the web and tada...found this page. I seem to have very similiar symptoms. I get chills/shakes at night and various times through out the day. My heart will beat really hard, especially at night. but various times during the day as well. I am sick to my stomach often. It's worse at night, but right now as I type this during the day I feel very sick and nausiated. I was diagnosed with IBS...but never had symptoms like these before.
Avatar n tn Hi I am 24 and new to this forum, My lmp was 7/26/07 and nothign since today october the 2nd I have had no spotting or morning sickness, just a touch of nausea, I am extremly sensitive to smells and had to quit smoking i cant even be near it, i have an almost constant gental tugging on my right side. I have a son who is almost 5 and my pregnancy was nothing like this.
162948 tn?1205256292 then I had what appeared to be ovulation signs mid month (ewcm for 2 days, pain on right side that felt like an air bubble, not cramps, for 4 days), but then after the signs, a day of nothing, then days of heavy bleeding. that is where I am now, day 4 of bleeding & my cycles before were only 2-3 days. is this normal? if this is my cycle returning, I am at 3 months post iud removal. is it normal to bleed heavier with your first cycle back? any feedback would be great. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I am another one who obsesses. Always searching on the internet for other advise on monthly cycles, ovulation, hpt's etc. My period is due on Wednesday. Not done a hpt yet. Part of me does not want to incase its negetive. My cycles are also 30 days and we had sex on day 13 of cycle. Will wait and see!
