Depo provera patch

Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera patch

Avatar n tn depo provera effects every one different. when i was on it, it stopped my af all together. however when my mother in law went on it she had af for an entire month. you long bleeding could be your body trying to clear out your system from delivery. if it persists give the doc a call and ask. there are no stupid questions.
Avatar n tn On Dec. 5th,2003 i received my first shot of depo-provera. In the month of Jan. I spoted for almost 3 weeks straight, and for two days in the month of Feb.On March 6th,2004 i missed my second shot.On the 15, i felt my baby move for the first time ,and i am just starting to have pregnancy symptoms like sleepiness, frequent urination.I also startd my period again after missing my shot. I still continue to feel my baby on a regular basis.
Avatar n tn i only got it once. i bled the whole 3 months, and 2 more months until i was put on the patch. i used the patch for a long time afterwards because i had no period while i was on it. my high school sweetheart and i never used protection, and i never got on any type of birth control. we foolishly used the withdrawl method. (which i do NOT advise as a b/c option to young couples. it is NOT always effective!!) i never got pregnant, even though he made an "uh oh" a couple
Avatar f tn I had had baby in Sept 04 and then went on Depo Provera a month later. A year later I started getting manic depressant and just didnt feel right. This was the second time that this happened to me on Depo Provera so I immediately went off. I let my system clean out for a month and then went onto Lo Ovoral pills and into the 8th day of the second pack I started to get these horrible migraines. I have never been sickly or have had headhaches in my life.
Avatar n tn I am in a group where all the women are trying to conceive after the depo provera. Many have been trying to conceive for years, and no luck. And it seems like those who do conceive have miscarriages soon after. Its like 80% of the women who get pg have a miscarriage. Is this linked to the depo? Age? Im 22 and am trying to conceive #2. (my son is 6 now) I am so scared that it might happen to me.
Avatar n tn I was given a shot of depo-provera yesterday...and when I asked about side affects all I was told was nausea, headache, and dizziness. After reading quite a few articles online, it seems there are a lot more serious side affects than I was led to believe. I've been having lots of chest pain and shortness of breath, but the doctor doesn't seem to think it's related to the shot.
Avatar f tn Hi there. I'm not sure about the dep0-provera works. Women who are on the pill or patch are generally less likely to have cysts since those methods stop ovulation. We do see that women who take fertility drugs have more cysts. Are you going through another bout?
202436 tn?1326477933 I wasn't planning on using any birth control after I had Lily, we were just gonna go with natural family planning. Well at my doc appt today he suggested the depo provera shot may help with milk production since I'm having an issue with it due to anemia. I went ahead and got the shot becuase I figured it was worth trying to see if it WILL help AND with the anemia problems right now it's probably best that I elminate as much risk of pregnancy as possible for awhile.
Avatar n tn After being on depo provera for 1 year, I decided to discontinue use and switch to the pill. I decided to be single (and not sexually active) for a while, so I decided to wait until I got my period to start taking the pill. The only problem is that I STILL haven't had a period! It's been 6 or 7 months since I stopped getting the shots. I had normal periods while on the shot, and before I was on the shot, but once I stopped getting it my periods vanished...
Avatar f tn I've been on the Depo Provera shot since the last summer of 09 and then after getting the shot I has my period for ten days and that was it.I spot here and there but very little.I think you should talk with you doctor to see whats going on and also that you should of check out the side effects before getting on the Depo Provera shot because Deop can cause Irregular, heavy, or no bleeding are common side effects of Depo Provera. After a year of use, many women stop having periods.
1012558 tn?1250893022 she said that depo takes away some kind of lining in your uterus that makes your period and the patch develops that lining that makes your period... so i finally got it now and now i dont want it...but oh jus happy i feel normal again..
Avatar f tn I've just turned 18 and I've been using the depo shot for at least 7 months because the pill was making me sick. When I asked my Nurse about depo she just told me about the positives which left me very much in the dark about this contraception.Since starting my shots I have gained 14LBS in just SEVEN months!!I have gone back to the nurse since and explained that my diet and exercise hasn't changed but I'm gaining weight, she wasn't exactly sympathic and insisted I eat less!
Avatar f tn I've been using Depo-provera for 1 year and 4 months, and have been aware of not staying on it for longer than 2 years due to the risk of bone loss that comes with longterm use. I've looked into Implanon but fear that because it hasn't been out for too long, the side affects have yet to be truely determined and bone loss may also be found with the use of Implanon.
315867 tn?1193593448 Have faith. I was on depo for a year and got pregnant while I was still on it. Keep trying and good luck!
384896 tn?1335297931 not sure about the breast feeding part but a lot of women on this site might agree with me to stay clear of depo-provera. I was on this bc for 2 and a half years and have been ttc for the same length of time with no joy. I was diagnosed with depression at 16 years old when i was on this, i asked the doc if that was the problem and was told no, when the depo eventually cleared from my system so did the depression my family say i was a new person.
Avatar n tn My methods have either been condoms/spermacide, depo-provera, or the Mirena IUD. Definitely put a call into your doctor or planned parenthood, they can help you decide what method is the best. As far as regular lubes go, we like Aqualube, sold at Rite-Aid. Astroglide is okay, not a fan of KY, avoid any "prolonging" or ones that claim to heat up, they can cause some problems. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have been on the Depo Provera shot for one year - before I say anything else I should mention to you that it's more immediately effective if they give you the shot in your hip like they recommend, not in your arm. I have had no normal periods while on it; on a rare occasion I will have a small amount of blood when I wipe after going to the bathroom (sorry if that detail was gross).
Avatar f tn I have had a yeast infection nonstop for about 3 years in conjunction with periodic urinary tract infections, I also have had biweekly to bimonthly chronic throat infections both on and around the tonsils (white stones) and major swelling causing pressure on my ears to the point of frequent ear aches for eight months along with forever surfacing blister type fluid filled lesions to join the other two types of infections.
Avatar n tn I have had endo for over ten years now and after a few surgeries and depo provera i finally put my foot down along with my husband and said Enough is enough, i couldnt live like that any longer! so i started Lucrin in Jan and i've got my last injection in a few days time. I was terrified of going on it after reading side effects but...the hot flushes, night sweats, headaches and feeling pregnant lol are nothing compared to how much pain i was in before!
Avatar f tn I was on depo provera for 5 yrs, and was then put on ortho evra patch in Feb. /06. My periods came pretty regular until last December. Then I had a period that lasted 23 days, with a lot of brownish discharge. I went to the dr and had an ultrasound, which found no reason, plus a blood test which determined that i was anemic. My periods returned to normal, only having them for 5 days between patches.
Avatar f tn ive been on depo provera for two years and i just recently switched over to the pills and ive been on the pills for about a week and a day and ive missed two pills and those two days i had sex and my bf came in me those two days and the sperm didnt come back out is it posssible that i could be pregnant?
Avatar n tn A lot depends upon the patient, though too--some don't feel that they can remember a pill every day, or don't like the idea of a patch. The depo provera injection is very easy and the implant is easy too--and don't require any maintenance. Finally, more doctors are using the IUD for first time users--it is inserted into the uterus and lasts for up to 5-10 years depending upon the type. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn So i started the Depo-Provera Shot in November its now March and i just randomly started spotting. When i first went on it my doctor said it stops periods. Well for the past 3 days I've been spotting and don't know why. Can i be having implantion bleeding?
Avatar n tn i was thinking maybe Depo(shot) but also maybe the patch. which is better? i know that with Depo u dont get your period for a few months but i would rather know that im getting it so that i know everything is ok. so would the patch be better or is there something else that might be better for me to take? ring? NO PILLS.. anything else? if you can help that would be very helpful. thank u for those who help.
759378 tn?1278966601 I was the same as yourself when i came off depo-provera and the pill, i think it's just your body trying to readjust to not having the patch. After 1 year and 7 months i think i now have my cycle back to normal. i don't think you will be as long as me but i did go from July last year until august with no AF from August to Sept i was 6 days late and freaking out as i was starting a new job and slowly since Sept it has regulated. I hope if your are TTC you get your BFP soon. Good Luck!!!
Avatar f tn It started out here and there I would have a light period and then it just got longer and heavier, so my doctor tried puttin me on Depo provera (not sure why) and that didnt do anything. Now my period wont stop, for the last 6 months its been straight, no break at all. I've been to 2 doctors who both say im fine, my pap tests are fine, my pelvic exam was fine, they even went as far as checking for hormone problems and nothing.
