depo-provera

432411 tn?1206475709 I took depo provera for about 6 years, starting in 2000. Just over three months after I stopped taking the shots I developed a nodule in my neck which was eventually diagnosed as thyroid cancer. I have absolutely no history of thyroid problems of any kind in family and I had had no problems before the depo.
Avatar f tn I was about 5'9'' 210lbs when I got pregnant....I had gained 50lbs previously from being on Depo Provera and had not been able to lose the weight yet. So far I have only gained about 20lbs with this pregnancy and Im 37 weeks 2days. My dr hasnt said anything about being overweight to me. And I havent had any trouble with GD or BP (mine is the normal 120/80 everytime). My Dr says I have a very healthy baby that will be around 8lbs when born.
Avatar f tn I have been off of depo provera for about two years, on depo provera I experience the periods 4 times a year and mild lactating, and I have been sexually active. My question is, since I have been off of it for the last year, I had experienced regular periods for the first three months, and now all of a sudden I am not having any menstrual cycles what so ever. Is it still because of the depo provera or is another underlining cause?

Avatar f tn I was on depo for a year and a few months stopped it and began planning for a child. I was told it can take up to a year however at eight months post depo I got my periods back, two months later I got my bfp. So it just deffers from person to person. If you think you could already be pregnant test four to five weeks after possible conception.
Avatar m tn With all due respect Msniki412, Metformin"glucophage" is not always the answer and nor does it always help. The question is why did an otherwise healthy women get pcos? and why if she already eats healthy and exercizes normally should she need a medication like glucophage for border line insuline resistance/insuline resistance aka diabetes? why would a healthy woman who like i said before eats well, excersizes routinely be subject to pcos in the first place?
5977218 tn?1377720695 Hello, If you stop getting Depo-Provera injections, your period usually returns within 3 to 10 months but sometimes it may take 12-18 mths..I suggest that you consult your gynecologist and get yourself examined to rule out other causes of amenorrhea like pregnancy, stress and anxiety, malnutrition, depression, overexercising, sudden weight loss or gain (obesity),thyroid disorders and hormonal imbalance due to polycystic ovarian syndrome(PCOS).

6370668 tn?1380705805 Hello, By injections, I suppose you mean depo shots. If you stop getting Depo-Provera injections, your period usually returns within 3 to 10 months but sometimes it may take 12-18 mths. Also get secondary amenorrhea ruled out. Secondary amenorrhea is when a woman who has had normal menstrual cycles stops getting her monthly period for 3 or more months.

Avatar f tn I had the Depo-Provera contraception injection in january, and since that, my symptoms have become alot worse, and ive suffered with persistent bloating and weight gain. But im still unsure as this could be water retention due to the injection. I've heard this injection has been proven to cause ovarian cysts, is this true? I was just wondering, if someone could identify with my symptoms? And how i would go about getting a screening, as i am only 18?
Avatar f tn the patch,nuva-ring,depo-provera, and just about every pill you can think of. Not only did they not work but they caused the worst side effects and I am not allergic to anything. I have been controlling my diet for some time now watching my carb intake and was on glucophage for a while with no results. I have irregular periods sometimes a year on and a year off and extremely they are usually heavy and painful.
363243 tn?1331037450 I know...it's not attractive and very depressing. I pluck (which is not good for you and causes hyperpigmentation) and I shave. I've become very skilled at covering the hyperpigmentation up with concealer but I'm so tired of it. The plucking on my neck has caused so much hyperpigmentation that I have to conceal it or people would look at me and ask me, "What's wrong with your neck?" The skin on my chest also has hyperpigmentation and I only shave this area.

Avatar n tn As a nurse you should know there's a difference between anorexia and obesity! PCOS comes with obesity, and depression, hair growth, skipped periods, chemical pregnancies... everything BUT being too skinny!
Avatar f tn Hi All! Need some suggestions/advice. I am a 54 yr old woman who has been spotting/bleeding for the past 3 1/2 years. EVERY DAY! Only went away for 5 months 2 1/2 yrs ago, then on again. Just had an endometrial biopsy at the "clinic" (charity care), and they say I have this complex atypical endometrial hyperplasia. They are telling me I need a hysterectomy, but before I can get it I need a hysteroscopy first. Telling me it is pre-cancerous, but that 40-55% is usually cancerous.
Avatar n tn i am 22, i gained 40 pounds while pregnant and 30 more when i got on the depo-provera shot....i was 155 b4 and 220 now....im doing low carb and cardio now....
Avatar n tn This person cleraly can't spell so why do you care what he/she says. Do what works for you and hopefully negative people and their negative comments will go away and get bored. I have no idea why this person spends so much time and energy here but that's their prerogative. This is a great website for people to post about what works for them in trying to lose weight. People are here to share their experiences not be attacked by this illiterate poster.
Avatar n tn he is awsome and i would recommend him to anyone. i have been struggleing with obesity for a long time and the thought of being able to loose the weight is mind blowing to me. i have many friends who have had great success on HCG so im hoping for the best. 8256587 tn?1399901106 Endo wants me to undergo a gastroscopy and to think about taking Depo-Provera contraceptive injections. Symptoms are to me not from anemia as they consist of heavy periods, orthostatic hypotension (blood rushes when standing from sitting) and cramping in legs when walking. Symptoms that have now gone: constipation, depression, fatigue, cold intolerance. I have now eliminated gluten and dairy in its entirety. I had an abnormal urine sample which showed leukocytes (white blood) and protein.
Avatar n tn In November I had the depo provera shot. I didn't have my period for 2 weeks and then it came and has not stopped. It's now 3 days until August. I have a doctor appt. for the 1st and that was the soonest I can be seen. I want it to go away. I'm scared it won't. I think I'm getting anemic and that might explain some of my severe exhaustion etc. But it's been 8monthes almost 9. Know one told me this was a possible side effect.
