Avatar n tn On Dec. 5th,2003 i received my first shot of depo-provera. In the month of Jan. I spoted for almost 3 weeks straight, and for two days in the month of Feb.On March 6th,2004 i missed my second shot.On the 15, i felt my baby move for the first time ,and i am just starting to have pregnancy symptoms like sleepiness, frequent urination.I also startd my period again after missing my shot. I still continue to feel my baby on a regular basis.
Avatar n tn I gave birth six months ago and had just started Depo Provera. I started bleeding for 5 months stopped for three days started again for one week stopped again for three days and well started again and never ended. Could this be from the shot or something else?
Avatar m tn Hi there, Depo vera is injected every 12 weeks while the contraceptive has the power to prevent conception up to 14 weeks, the injections are usually given every 12 weeks to ensure that there is no gap in the effectiveness of the birth control between shots. If such a schedule is maintained, pregnancy while on Depo-Provera is extremely rare. Since your girlfriend was not on taking it regularly there might have been a period when she had sex while not on depo.
1891325 tn?1321126576 What you listed describes what I feel exactly. I used to be an incredibly happy, bubbly person, and these mood swings are killing me! I really like the convenience of not having to worry about taking a pill, it's not that I mind pills at all, but my schedule as a college student varies so much it's hard to find a time to take it consistently. If I had a steady schedule where I could take a pill every day at the same time, I would much rather do that than have an injection.
Avatar n tn My doctor recomended the Pill first but after not being able to remember to take it due to my active schedule he told me about Depo Provera. I started it and immediately loved it because i had no period at all after 3 months. Very rarely over the last 7 years i would spot but never enough to do anything about it and just figured it due to stress. It high school i was very active, track, basketball, volleyball anything.
Avatar f tn I've been on the Depo Provera shot since the last summer of 09 and then after getting the shot I has my period for ten days and that was it.I spot here and there but very little.I think you should talk with you doctor to see whats going on and also that you should of check out the side effects before getting on the Depo Provera shot because Deop can cause Irregular, heavy, or no bleeding are common side effects of Depo Provera. After a year of use, many women stop having periods.
Avatar f tn I've just turned 18 and I've been using the depo shot for at least 7 months because the pill was making me sick. When I asked my Nurse about depo she just told me about the positives which left me very much in the dark about this contraception.Since starting my shots I have gained 14LBS in just SEVEN months!!I have gone back to the nurse since and explained that my diet and exercise hasn't changed but I'm gaining weight, she wasn't exactly sympathic and insisted I eat less!

I just want everyone to know that Depo isn't as safe as some claim! Many may be fine on it, but for many others it is poison!

Avatar f tn Hello, If you stop getting Depo-Provera injections, your period usually returns within 3 to 10 months but sometimes it may take 12-18 mths. During this time, ovulation can return at any time. If you are doubtful regarding the status of your pregnancy, you can go in for blood pregnancy test which measures the amount of hCG in your blood. Transvaginal ultrasound at as early as 5-6 wks of pregnancy can also confirm pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I also became pregnant while on the depo shot. I had been on it for a little over 2 years. I wound up miscarrying between 5-6 weeks. I quit the shot at that point and we started actively TTC about 6 months post m/c. It took 20 cycles (mostly irregular), at least 2 m/c (doctor thinks many more I was unaware of), and 2 rounds of clomid to successfully get and stay pregnant.
Avatar n tn I have been on the Depo-provera for 10 years. I'm 27 now and have been married for 2 years. My next one is due on the 14th Feb 2012 the only time i have bleed was when I had cell's removed after another bad 'smear' test. I really want a baby my husband has 5 kids but we dont see them much (not out of choice!) Iam really scared now that I'm not going to be able to have a baby and wont beable to be the wife I want to be....
Avatar n tn I used depo provera injections for two and a half years. It's been over a year since my last injection. within the first six months after stopping the shot I gained 40lbs without a change in my diet and excercise.I was told this was unusual to gain after stopping the shot and that i may never lose the weight. Is this true? or is the only way to go back on the shot because while i was on the shot i actually lost weight.but if that's the answer won't i be trapped on the shot forever?
Avatar n tn Just have fun trying, for those who are. On a separate note, does it seem like to anyone else whose depo schedule is similiar that a cycle is usually followed by unprotected intercourse. Usually within 2-4 days? Or just me?
1909968 tn?1322067512 The reason I began the needle was of stomach pains that could not be described, so my doctor told me to try the depo provera and see if the pains went away, which they did ( at the time I was also looking for a good birth control method, I hit two birds with one stone) Having the sex without a condom was just a silly and probably stupid mistake. I'm now worried I may be pregnant, I have a nausea un easy feeling off and on today.
Avatar n tn Now i am waiting for my gynecologist appointment to come through.I am so worried at the moment.I am sure it is because of Depo Provera AND NOT CANCER.I told her that i have read a lot of reviews of woman who had the sam on going bleeding for months, but she kind of ignored that. I just wonder how will they stop that bleeding? When it is going to stop?
Avatar n tn I am 7 weeks pregnant and it was planned. I was on the depo-provera shot and it took me 7 months after getting off of it to conceive. According to the facts about the depro-provera shot, it can take up to 1 year to get pregnant after your last shot but, everybodies body is different. If you are not a fast breeder like myself, then you should be fine. Hope I was of some help. Good Luck!!!!
Avatar n tn I only got the period after 6 months because my doctor gave me a hormone drug (provera) to jump start my period. Also, usually doctors schedule the womans next depo appt before they actually need it so they have time to get it incase they aren't able to make it in. So I guess there is a chance of pregnancy but I think it is minimal. If you are worried you can take a test but it wouldn't show positive within days of having sex. I would wait 2-3 weeks before testing, if you feel you wanna test.
Avatar f tn She said to wait til fri 7/9 afternoon and if i still dont get a full flow bleed then call them back to schedule bw for Sat AM. This has never happened to me and whenever i take the provera i always got a period. I asked her if this is normal and she said my RE likes to give the patient 1 week from the last day of the pill to see if they will get a bleed and if not its normal cus at times some people just dont get a period after taking provera.
Avatar n tn Side effects of depo provera (regarding fetal exposure during pregnancy) are supposedly slight, but the literature says there is a slight chance of male babies having the condition (can't remember the scientific name) where the opening of the penis is on the underside. Females have an increased chance of having virilization (enlarged, more masculine) of the genitals/clitoris.
Avatar m tn I was told by my doctor and even the pharmacist that Depo Provera has had some issues in it's dark past and gave me a lot of info before I made the decision of going on it. I went on it because at the time the pill didn't fit in my busy schedule. Although there's been arguements of depo causing miscarriages, other birth controls (like the pill) also cause miscarriages. Sadly it happens to any kind of medication you put into your body. Do you know that depo causes blood calcium loss?
Avatar f tn is it possible to get pregnant if you were in depo provera shots monthly and then you missed the schedule shot?
Avatar n tn Im a 17 year old girl who has been sexually active for over a year now, I was put on the Depo Provera injection 6 months ago but came off it last month because I started bleeding during sex. And now after being off it for a month, still am bleeding during sex. It is not alot of blood but still enough to be extreemly annoying and embarrassing. I have gone to many different docters about this but none have given me an answer to why this may be hapening? And what i can do to stop it.
Avatar n tn Ok so here's a little history was on Depo Provera for 5 yrs straight and had no period during this time then last 2 years went to just normal BC microgestin and recently in April 2009 stopped taking BC all together.
Avatar n tn No I am definitely not trying to get pregnant. I had one Depo Provera injection in November and the side effects were terrible so I haven't been back since. My period has only been back 2-3 months and I haven't found a contraceptive that agrees with my body and I've been practicing safe sex. I'm worried because I know that condoms aren't 100% safe.
494669 tn?1275366075 i was on the depo provera shot for 9 months, i have gone of it now for 3 months approx. i have missed 2 afs and i am getting some pain discomfort in lower part of stomach. i have tender breasts that hurt more when i take of my bra. i have no discharge, or any other symptons. i have an ingrown hair on my pubic hair line and i am unsure if this could be causing mu discomfort in my lower stomach. any advice would be appreciated. and i have been to the doctor.
Avatar f tn I swear I've seen and felt twitches, but I'm excusing that as my paranoid mind. I know depo provera can cause pregnancy symptoms, but the stomach thing is what gets me. And I've never been a lazy person, so it seems strange to feel so...wide. I tried home pregnancy tests but they returned negative. However this was recently, and I read HCG levels can drop in later months. Does anyone have advice? My biggest concern is the odd shape of my stomach when I'm lying down or doing yoga.
