Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera no prescription

Avatar f tn no not the depo provera sot.. just regular provera..
Avatar n tn Hi andreaR - I was 26 went I went on Depo and I just turned 38. If you search 'depo' in this forum, you'll see my list of side effects. My period stopped almost immediately after I started depo and I certainly didn't miss it.
432411 tn?1206475709 I was on Depo Provera for BC for 8 years with no side effects but headaches, which were manageable. Also had no periods, which was great! However, I became ill when I stopped having the injections at age 45. I experienced fatigue, joint pain and swelling, and depression. I was tested for everything from Lyme disease and Lupus, to thyroid conditons - all negative. My Dr. finally gave up and diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue syndrome.
5363805 tn?1366921550 I am suffering from depression and anxiety due to depo-provera (already talked to an OB, and she said that it HAS to be from that), and I am barely coping. It's been 6 days and I'm already ready to give up on myself, and I see no end in sight. I'm losing hope. I wish I had never taken it. I'm also suffering from fatigue and headaches. My head feels so heavy, I can barely hold it up.
Avatar n tn After being on depo provera for 1 year, I decided to discontinue use and switch to the pill. I decided to be single (and not sexually active) for a while, so I decided to wait until I got my period to start taking the pill. The only problem is that I STILL haven't had a period! It's been 6 or 7 months since I stopped getting the shots. I had normal periods while on the shot, and before I was on the shot, but once I stopped getting it my periods vanished...
Avatar n tn iwas on the depo got it one time no period for 4months dr put me on provera no period then he put me on orth tricycline no period when i was provera i was cramping a little i have been on the pill for a week have missed 2 but my boobs are heavy my back hurts my belly is bloated im urninating alot very tired sleep all day up all night the first preg test before he put me on the pill was neg is there a possiabilty that i am pregnant ?
Avatar f tn I've just turned 18 and I've been using the depo shot for at least 7 months because the pill was making me sick. When I asked my Nurse about depo she just told me about the positives which left me very much in the dark about this contraception.Since starting my shots I have gained 14LBS in just SEVEN months!!I have gone back to the nurse since and explained that my diet and exercise hasn't changed but I'm gaining weight, she wasn't exactly sympathic and insisted I eat less!
Avatar n tn I have been on depo for 11 years. I would be due for my next shot on 9/27 but my Doctor has advised that I stop having it. She has been treating me for migraines and depression with Imitrex (when needed) and a daily dosage of Prozac of 10mg. The Imitrex thankfully, works, and the migraines have also been lessened by the Prozac.
Avatar f tn No, I ended up having a miscarriage. They said it was not because of the 10 days of provera and 2 days of clomid I took (I failed a blood test too, even tho I was preggo). But I can't help but think that maybe that played a part. Sorry for the late reply, but my best suggestion is to ALWAYS take a hpt before starting provera and give yourself a week or so at least to be late on af.
Avatar f tn The Gyno suggested I start using the depro provera for treatment (injections once a month). I was already using the shot for birth control (once every 3 months) so it seemed like the logical thing to do. This was the first month having them back to back. I got the shot at 10 in the morning and by 11 pm I was hospitalized in severe pain. I thought I was dying. The doctors were totally useless and accused me of only wanting drugs.
Avatar n tn I used depo provera injections for two and a half years. It's been over a year since my last injection. within the first six months after stopping the shot I gained 40lbs without a change in my diet and excercise.I was told this was unusual to gain after stopping the shot and that i may never lose the weight. Is this true? or is the only way to go back on the shot because while i was on the shot i actually lost weight.but if that's the answer won't i be trapped on the shot forever?
Avatar f tn I had two chocolate cysts that were around 6 cm x 6 cm x 6 cm, the size of a tennis ball. My gynecologist wants me to take depo provera until I am in menopause. I am only 41. I refuse to take it afraid of all the side effects. I agree we are almost made to feel like we HAVE to take it. My surgeon was very forceful about me having to take it. She does not know I never filled the prescription. Not even willing to take Alesse the birth control pill. I am just waiting and seeing.
Avatar f tn In October, I got my first shot of Depo-Provera. I know several women on depo and they have all told me they have had the same experience: no periods, no spotting and no other side effects whatsoever. My experience has been horrible. For the first 6 weeks, all was well, no bleeding/spotting and no other symptoms. A few weeks ago, however, I began spotting. Every day it became heavier.
Avatar n tn I'd go ahead and test... provera is supposed to start your period... no- you're not horrible for not wanting to be. I can totally understand that.
Avatar n tn if your gyn prescribed you provera 10mg and you still havent started your period you need to go back to your gyn asap cause it can mean that you r pregnant or somethin is seriously wrong
384896 tn?1335297931 I can't cuz I'm BFing. The only options I have is non hormonal like the mirana... and I read up on that thing and ended with a "H E L L to the NO NO NO." lol I think I'm pretty safe, I don't have the money for that plan b thing, so I'm gunna go to P.P. to see if they can give me one... but then again they charged me $25 for a stupid pregnancy test when I first got pregnant with Ivy, which was rediculous cuz I paid $10 for TWO TESTS from walmart!!!
182632 tn?1259937648 This is my 6th day of Provera and was just wondering how long it takes for AF to show herself? I can't wait to start my first cycle of clomid!!! Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn A bit like Clareol, but not. I used to have irregular periods and was on depo provera injection up until about 2 years ago. My last period was 16th October, for a week (normal time and duration), not had one since. I have many of the early pregnancy symptoms; nausea (on and off throughout day), running to the toilet more often (5 times today already and it only 11.
Avatar n tn I have had endo for over ten years now and after a few surgeries and depo provera i finally put my foot down along with my husband and said Enough is enough, i couldnt live like that any longer! so i started Lucrin in Jan and i've got my last injection in a few days time. I was terrified of going on it after reading side effects but...the hot flushes, night sweats, headaches and feeling pregnant lol are nothing compared to how much pain i was in before!
Avatar n tn No it was not a painful period. It was just really really heavy and I didnt think it was ever going to stop!! I have never really had painful periods though. No, the doctor could not tell me what was going on with me? I guess that is one thing that researchers need to go over? It has really left me at a loss. I dont know what to tell my girlfriends or my husband. I just have to say I dont have a period sometimes???? I started my period when I was almost 17 years old! That isnt exactly normal..
Avatar n tn I am on Provera to help get my long absent period back in the picture. I was on Depo and had my last shot in January, which made me due for one in April. I didn't get it so I could get pregnant. I have not had a period in over a year, and I have been on provera for 4 days and it still hasn't started. How long does it take? I am on a 10 day prescription. I also have had hot flashes. I have never had them before. Is it because of the provera???
Avatar n tn I couldn't lose weight on depo no matter what I did. Constant exercises, starving, hcg shots, prescription diet drugs. My family blamed me, not the depo provera. I was heartbroken. I stopped using depo and switched to Mirena.I still wasn't losing the weight, so I changed from my vegetarian, low cal, low fat diet, which wasn't working, and for 4 months I have been on a zero carb diet and lost 30 lbs in 4 months, Little or no exercise now by the way.
Avatar f tn Hi me and my boyfriend have been trying to conceive for quite some time now and were having no luck because I was on depo and have not gotten my period back and it's been almost eight months since my last shot so I'm having fertility problems. Does anyone know a good fertility drug that works?
Avatar n tn By any chance are you on depo provera? My thyroid levels have been out of whack the whole time I was on the depo shot, I had my last shot april 07 , and sept 4th was my 2nd normal tsh level , last may 06 it was (normal) but I still continured to feel like **** . I had been hypo for 13 yrs on .25 mcg of synthroid with no problem, then started the depo shot. Tsh level was way too low.
Avatar f tn My period has been off every since then . Every since then everything has been going wrong . My dr gave me a prescription of provera 10m for 5 days in feb of 2014. It came in 7days later and stayed on for 9 days . The month of march I had no period at all . I went back to the dr and he made me start birth control pills . I started May 7 and took them for 2 weeks (14days). I started spotting May 26. Then a full blow period on May 27. My period just went off Friday May 29.
Avatar f tn My gynecologist recently informed me that she suspects that I MAY have PCOS due to my lack of ovulation and heavy menstrual cycles. So she has prescribed me depo provera in order to control my heavy bleeding. (My periods have ALWAYS been irregular since I was 11 and it's very common for me to miss 2- 3 months of a period and then to experience heavy bleeding for over a month!) But they did a vaginal ultrasound and found NO cysts! They said my uterine lining was a little thick but NO cysts!
Avatar f tn Getting a progesterone shot is not as common as getting a prescription for provera (a progesterone pill you take for a certain length of time), so that might be something you can ask your doctor about if the shot was not successful. Best of luck with everything!
Avatar f tn I have migraines so this worked for me. No breakthough bleeding or anything. But, I goofed and had depo-provera shot after my ds was born and screwed things up royally. Good luck to you and hope you have as good results as I did. Oh...I went off of the pill to get pregnant. It only took me one month to conceive!
Avatar n tn I went to the gyno today and upon finding nothing through a pelvic exam he suggested Depo Provera, which I don't want to take, or laprascopy to look at and perhaps remove the ovary. I'm wondering what people think about having an ovary removed and if I should try natural progesterone for awhile first. My periods have always been, and are now, regular and normal. I have no syptoms beyond the excruciating pain for about 10 days per month.
Avatar f tn I have been on the Depo shot since i was 17 (I am now 25). Its been a miracle there are no periods so there is no pain. Only symptom I had was weight gain. I haven't been able to find a doctor willing to do a bone density scan. I had a laparoscopy when I was 16 and it subsided the pain for maybe a whole 2 months then I was right back at it. I'm wanting to try something else since I know being on depo this long isn't good.
