depo-provera

432411 tn?1206475709 I was on Depo Provera for BC for 8 years with no side effects but headaches, which were manageable. Also had no periods, which was great! However, I became ill when I stopped having the injections at age 45. I experienced fatigue, joint pain and swelling, and depression. I was tested for everything from Lyme disease and Lupus, to thyroid conditons - all negative. My Dr. finally gave up and diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue syndrome.
Avatar f tn ok back on the subject me and my husband are ttc (weve been together not using any kind of protection for 3 years) Has anyone ever had their period start natuarlly after quitting provera?
Avatar f tn 2009 had second laparoscopy, removal of multiple cysts and a ton of endometrial cells. Started Depo-Provera right after. stopped depo in Oct.2011, Depo was great for the first 2 years and then i was having pain and fullness in my abdomen, i decided to come off of depo provera after a visit with an endo specialist who suggested i try to go natural. in Dec2011 the pain began.....
1305767 tn?1361196276 At the same time I was having female discomforts so I was also seeing a gyno. I was put on Depo Provera birth control (been on it about 9 months so far) and most of my digestive problems cleared up. Now in the past week I've been feeling like I can't stay full! I'll eat and about an hour later I start getting "hunger pangs" or a gnawing in my upper abdomen so I eat again.
Avatar n tn As a kid, I was told I had scoliosis but never did anything about it (it runs in my family). Also, I've been taking depo provera shots for about 7 years. I am 46 years old. Any idea what this could be? I currently don't have insurance but should soon.
Avatar f tn The only medications I take are Protonix for heartburn and I am on Depo Provera birth control. I have had a natural birth/pregnancy 3 years ago and haven had no injuries or surgery to my abdominal area.
Avatar n tn pain used to only occur during menses...now worsens when I receive depo-provera shot, and really worsened after a 2 week course of premarin and I got a mini-period. Hida scan showed a 24% effraction rate,(their normal rate 30%) RUQ Ultrasound that included GB normal, all blood work normal, except elevated LDL chol, and phosphates were low July, and dropped lower in Aug. No weight loss, or vomiting. They are now sending me to surgeon re: GB. Upper endoscopy in Apr. this yr.
Avatar f tn I stopped smoking 2 years ago. So that may be the cause. I also take the depo provera birth control shot which made me gain 30 pounds super fast. I eat relatively healthy. I eat lean meats, Vegetables, whole grain bread, and Fruits. I do eat junk food maybe once every weak or two. I do drink alvohol occasionally. I am diagnosed with depression but I'm not medicated because I can manage it fine for now. I am a 21 year old female and weigh 175 pound and am 5'6.
Avatar n tn Are you on depo provera or have you ever been on depo provera?
Avatar n tn The cramping also gets worse when I have a full bladder or have to have a BM. I have had my kidney, liver and gallbladder levels checked, as well as my thyroid and all was normal. Also had a pregnancy test and an exam to check for pulps. All was normal. I just had an ultra sound done today and should know the results in a day or so. My doctor just put me on a medication called Provera to help with my bleeding. Which has helped but i still have very light spotting from time to time.
Avatar n tn She is not pregnant (actually impossible due to some complications of long term depo-provera use) No fever, bp normal. The latest attack the ER doc prescribed strong acid suppressant to try to rule out the collection of ulcer related issues but she has no gas, burping, dirarea heartburn etc. Her family doc sent her for blood tests but we don't have any results yet.
Avatar n tn Well i on the certain hand have only heard of weight gain being possible in the depo provera shot. but I took it for 2 yrs after i had my first child and it actually made me lose weight! i was about 135 and it brought me down to 107. So i got off of it and now i am back to my normal healthy size. but my sister took it and gain 85 lbs! So watch out ladies! That is the only one i heard of that makes you gain weight. and the patch gives yeast infections and really bad migraines headaches!
1704625 tn?1310712361 I tried depo provera, yaz, ortho evra, ortho tri cyclen(my body is ok w/this one), and I finally have settled with ortho cyclen. As for the pain under my ribs it was in the middle and onto the right side.
Avatar n tn What is the significance of taking Depo Provera? Very curious since I did durung an early pregnancy for the the whole time.
Avatar f tn I'll definitley ask about this. So far the recommendaton from the DR that did my surgery is Depo Provera shot or Luprin (?). I am 36 and have not had kids yet and am not sure if I want any. However, I'm leaning toward the Depo as the Luprin has menopause type symptoms which I don't think I am ready to deal with even temporarily. I"ll get another opinion on Monday. Will let you know what my regular DR. recommends. How are you treating your endo?
Avatar f tn I was also diagnosed with endometriosis and started depo provera. I was put on preventative meds for the migraines and after a while they seemed to work. It seemed as if all my problems were hormone related. I seemed to be getting better and when I was 23 I started having rare symptoms again. I had leg pain and swelling that eventually went away, hives without a cause, migraines started again.
362408 tn?1236444681 My first one was hormonal related, I had been on depo provera for 8 years. I thought I was lucky because I got pregnant about 3 months after coming off of it (December 2006), but my hormones were not at a point that my body could sustain the pregnancy. Five months later I had to have my gallbladder removed, so maybe it was God's way of telling me there was something else wrong with me that needed to be taken care of first.
393685 tn?1425816122 later I ended up hospitalized again for more pulmonary embolisms, notably b/c he never took me off the Depo Provera shots after last lung clot, Nope, Dr's are not infallible, but this one seriouly dropped the ball, I nearly died..
Avatar n tn Put on meds (buscopan, domperidone, nexium and gaviscon, antibiotics for gallbladder and bladder infections (which I didn't have) and ativan). Finally, this week I was diagnosed with Helicobactor Pylori. Google it and you will find lots of info on it. It is a bacteria that is found in 25% to 50% of people but doesn't always cause symptoms.
Avatar n tn Massive doses of birth control pills (which we don't want, because of all the side effects), or to take Provera, which is a hormone. We chose the Provera. Last night I took the last pill... I was told to take it for 5 days and then I should start my period again. She said if this period lasts longer than 2 weeks to come back. I haven't started up again yet, but it hasn't even been 24 hours since my last dose. So hopefully this turns out well.
Avatar n tn Hormonal treatment – Oral contraceptive pills (OCPs), also called birth control pills, as well as other hormonal treatments (patch, vaginal hormonal ring, Depo-provera, IUD and hormonal implants) are often prescribed because the hormones thin out the lining of the uterus which lessens the blood flow and cramping.
Avatar n tn I have been TTC for 4 months (this is currently our 5th), DH is 30 and I'm 28. Have been off Depo Provera Shot for 14 months and been having irregular periods for 10 months now. My cycle length varies from 12 - 20 days. I'm currently sitting at CD22 with no period, no cramps, bloating, or any of the AF symptoms I'm used to. Have been using OPK because of the irregular cycle length & this month ovulated on CD5 while I was still spotting from AF!
298579 tn?1192250448 The only thing I have seen that helps the pain is an herbal wrap that you heat up(you can get them @ walmart), and I lay that on my stomach. I have been on the depo shot for four years, I have asked if this is a contributing factor and have been told no. I have no kids. I hope someone comes up with an explanation, because I am too young to be giving up on my sex life!
Avatar n tn BUT BEFORE i had the IUD put in, i was on the Depo Provera... which is the shot form of birth control that lasts three months... i have had constant yeast and bacterial infections since i have been on the shot. Now i am on the IUD, and they both use the same hormones. this is just great (sarcastically speaking) to hear all of this about the IUD as well. i was really hoping after MANY (too many to count) years of dealing with the constant infections that my problems are not going to go away.
Avatar n tn Well...I was just looking up my symptoms on the web and tada...found this page. I seem to have very similiar symptoms. I get chills/shakes at night and various times through out the day. My heart will beat really hard, especially at night. but various times during the day as well. I am sick to my stomach often. It's worse at night, but right now as I type this during the day I feel very sick and nausiated. I was diagnosed with IBS...but never had symptoms like these before.
Avatar n tn thinks either adenomyosis or endo, but she told me if yaz doesnt help the next step might be the depo provera shot I dont know much about it but that may be a possibility for you, or possibly even lupron depo she suggested, even though I think you get many side effects from it. It's like a fake menopause! Well good luck lemme know how things works out!
Avatar f tn Around Setember my hair became very oily at the crown of my head. The second week in October I had my gallbladder out. about 10 to 14 days later my hair cleared up. I was thrilled. One week before Christmas my hair became oily again, and continue's to get worse. I am still experencing some pain in my stomach, could this mean that I'm still sick? I'm really scared. Does this mean I need to have something else removed to have beautiful hair again, ha ha.?
Avatar n tn I too noticed this sticky crown issue about a week ago. I am 26 and do not have any more stress in my life than usual. I am on the Depo-Provera shot for birth control and read that Depo-Ralovera (a very similar shot) can cause greasy hair. (http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/symptoms/greasy_hair/side-effects.htm) I wonder if I could have received the wrong shot when I was in about 2 weeks ago, the names are so similar.
