I know you posted this post a while ago but do you know all the facts about depo-provera. I was on it for 2 and a half years and came off it to ttc in aug 08 i am still trying 18 months later as the depo made me infertile, it could take 2 years for the depo alone to leave your system. I would strongly suggest if yu haven't already find a different contraception and i know a lot of women will agree with me on this site!!

Be sure to take a calcium supplement daily--some of the gummy ones are great! It is pretty common for her bleeding to be irregular when a woman is on Depo Provera. Quick question... which Depo are you on? There are two kinds, that I'm aware of: Depo Provera or Depo Lupron. I had tried the Provera when I was about 16 for about a year. I had to stop because I could not handle the side effects any longer. I did spot for about 3 months. It usually takes a few months for your system to get used to it. The Lupron stops your period completely and basically puts your body into menopause, which is the one I am currently on.

I have been on the Depo Provera shot for more than 5 years now. I read that the recommended amount of time that a young woman should be on Depo is only 2 years. I am 20 now and I have been on it since I was 15. I have tried to come off of it once. I bled for about 3 weeks and then got back on it. Currently I have all kinds of pain. Back, kness, neck, arms, and I have migraines. I read about a calcium deficiency when doing research about Depo Provera.

H If you were my patient, i would advise you that the depo provera injection can be an excellent method of birth control. It is 99% effective and requires only that the patient have 4 injections per year. It is important to take a calcium supplement while using depo provera. Weight gain is probably the worst side effect. Hope this helps!

Hi, my girlfriend lives overseas and she's on depo provera. She gets the shot once or twice a year only (not every 12 or 13 weeks). She has it injected one month in advance, every time before I travel overseas to visit her and have sex. I know depo provera meant to provide over 99% protection after 7 days, but we like to be extra cautious and wait a month before having sex. She had her last shot in September, and I visited her nearly a month later in October.

I was on depo for 3 yrs, and luckily got AF the first month off depo. Personally, I believe if you are having regular periods, you need to buy some ovulation predictor tests, and see if your even ovulating. They're pretty expensive but you get alot of them, just test each day....etc. what the directions say on the box. That way you'll know if it's because your not ovulating... or whatnot.
