Avatar f tn I will never go on Depo Provera again. My daughter was on Depo Provera at college, and discontinued the shot and has lost that weight and is thin again. Fitday.com's free site has helped me keep up with my carb intake, and also tells me how many calories, how much fat etc. I use. It does this automatically when I put my food in for the day. Also Magic Bus has a forum where you can learn how to lose weight quick and even post on a challenge to keep you honest and responsible.
Avatar n tn She told me to never eat anything white (except chicken). Well her advice worked. It's something about the Depo Provera and and inability to metabolize carbs while Depo is still hiding in your tissues. She told me to eat this way until I lost the weight I want, and that then I could eat bread, salad, and the foods I love again. She also said the weight will not come back, as the depo will be gone. So I look forward to that in another month or so. I have already lost 45 lbs!
Avatar f tn Hello just alittle about myself, I am 26 year old female with 3 kids. This past August I recently had a miscarriage and D&C. I was 10 weeks along but I had a partial molar pregnancy. Right after my D&C I received the depo provera shot because my doc said I couldn't get pregnant for a year. Well in mid September all my symptoms started and just hit me out of nowhere one day. One night I just started having a panic attack out of no where.
Avatar n tn My heavy periods are almost non-existent. But I can't live on valium and my other choice is zoloft. I'm 50 and I just wanted help with perimenopause. Guess I'll go to plan B. Menopause can't be that far away - right ;-}? Good luck!
Avatar n tn I've been taking 500mg metformin myself and I have not experienced any weight loss. I am actually taking it for diabetes treatment. But it has not helped with my weight loss.
Avatar n tn I started Celexa 7 days ago and, although I want to be positive, can't help but worry that it will not alleviate the anxiety and apprehension that were exacerbated by months I spent on Effexor XR and, most recently, by receiving my first Depo Provera treatment. I am doing relaxation exercises and will be starting NLP and TLT shortly. I just want to be me again (happy, carefree and not afraid). Am I making a mistake going on Celexa? Has it been an effective treatment for GAD?
Avatar n tn Its all in my midsection (like I have a flotation device around my waist) and in my upper arms. I was put on elavil years ago for my headaches and that combined with the depo provera birth control and zoloft who knows what has caused it although i have taken all of those drugs in the past with no problems. I had blood work done and there were no problems.
503727 tn?1210442710 i was taking sertraline (zoloft) and didnt find it effective. i stopped taking it and now im trying to shake the last bit of this anxiety stuff off. meds can be good if you are in really deep anxiety though, only use them temproarily (or at least thats what i say) until you can conquer these panic attacks. having scientific reassurance helps a lot. since you've been tested for multiple things and show up fine, be relieved, that's perfect.
Avatar n tn 8 years ago i was hospitalized for depression and given prozac which 'cured' it for awhile, but lately ive been feeling depressed, especially around my period, and read that The Pill eased PMS symptoms. i tried Depo Provera once and it made my depression worse and im wondering is there any oral contraceptives that will ease my PMS but wont worsen my depression? i was also wondering is it possible to take antidepressants together with oral contraceptives?
Avatar n tn For the last 6 months I have been getting tearing (look like paper cuts) in my vaginal area (1/4 to 1/2 inch long). I get the tears at least once or twice a week and they last from 2-4 days, go away for a few days and then come back. They continue to occur in the same locations; 1. Inside the vaginal lips on the sides almost always in the crease (between the labia minora and majora?) 2. Between the anus and vaginal opening (perineum) 3. Above the clitoris in the "hood" area.

Avatar f tn I got pregnant on the pill, so that's out of the question. And I also had the depo provera shot which caused horrid weight gain, and by horrid, I mean I probably gained 15 pounds within a month and a half - and I go to the gym and eat healthy. I've gone to the doctor about it and he recommended I just try and wait it out a little bit longer but i feel like I can't keep dealing with these mood swings, nor can my son or partner.
Avatar n tn I think it also made me nauseated. I agree with Inny that practicing abstinence and getting off the depo-provera would be an excellent step.
Avatar f tn Pain over my left breast started just after I told a man I love very much that I was perfectly happy we were breaking up. Doctors now diagnose something called "broken heart syndrome" where people that suffer a sudden loss can have a heart attack because the brain releases adrenaline and other chemicals that stun the heart.

202436 tn?1326477933 after gaining weight on depo provera, elavil and/or zoloft my doc prescribed lexapro (an antidepressent supposed to not cause weight gain) with phentermine (diet pills) which i found out could not be combined (something about the diet pills intensifying the effects of the SSRI) so weve switched now to cymbalta for anxiety/depression with phamacist stating that it was one of the only drugs used to treat depression that does not have any weight side effects. We'll see!
17568 tn?1424977159 This suggestion might be off the wall, but you could ask the doctors. I used to use a contraceptive called Depo Provera. I had the common side effect (or additional benefit) that I no longer had monthly periods. The birth control is in the form of a shot that you get every three months, which would be bad if you had an adverse reaction to it since you would have to wait three months for it to wear off, but perhaps it is available in another form.
Avatar n tn Another possible factor I failed to mention is that I discontinued using Depo-provera October 14, and about that time this flare-up began. I don't know if there's a hormonal relationship or not as I'm breastfeeding and my normal cycles haven't yet resumed. At the moment I'm continuing to try to destress my life, avoiding migraine trigger foods, trying to regulate my sleep habits (they are erratic), and I will certainly try vitamin B2 (is that the same as Riboflavin?).
544292 tn?1268886268 Sounds too good to be true. (AND IT IS!) The fact is, there's already pain killers here in the house and I'm not going to take any of those either. I'm not taking anything. I'm going to ice it, lay down, rest and realize that my body has been thru a heelllla fight and it just needs a break, a breath. A moment. A freakity frackity day off. I've been in a tough battle for 21 solid cold turkey days and before that; the taper AKA "Let the pills run out....
Avatar n tn Meclizine, zoloft (yes, 2 thought it was all in my head and prescribed zoloft for 3 months and then said to stop when it didn't help), nothing seems to help. Last 4 doctors said "call me when you figure it out." I feel as though I'm getting worse every day. It is difficult for me to do anything except driving - motion in the car or in a bus seems to temporarily relieve everything. I work in an office with flourescent lighting and lots of computers.
393685 tn?1425816122 later I ended up hospitalized again for more pulmonary embolisms, notably b/c he never took me off the Depo Provera shots after last lung clot, Nope, Dr's are not infallible, but this one seriouly dropped the ball, I nearly died..
Avatar n tn I have never had headaches but on the 8th of Dec I had a horrible migraine and they have not stopped since then. I was on Depo Provera and switched to Lo/overal pills could this be a reason for the headaches? I stopped taking the pill last Friday after visiting the ER with horrible pains in my head. All the tests at the ER can back ok but the headaches still come everyday. I was taking up to five meds a day to curb the pain until 2 days ago.
Avatar f tn Once I got on the pill I was super anxious and had to be put on Zoloft. I stopped taking the pill (a month ago) and am now (today) done with the Zoloft (after a painful weaning period). I feel fine. No anxiety that isn't warranted. Try getting off the pill before you go on antidepressants. If the pill isn't causing the anxiety than you know the condition far reaches pharmaceuticals. Though I must say when I was on Zoloft it worked wonders just sucked to wean off it.
Avatar n tn As far as the young lady taking the Yasmin and Zoloft, the only increase risk for blood clots is from the Yasim and usually if you smoke or /and over the age of 35. Zoloft has no know side effects of blood clots or Topamax. I take this for anxiety as well. Any other comments are appreciated. Thank for the support.
Avatar n tn I just started using Seasonique (used to be called Seasonal) Dec 19,2006 and I'm hoping there will be some ladies on here that can provide me with some feed back. I was hoping I would be able to read the insert that was supposed to come with the filled prescription, but the pharmacy didn't include it in the bag. Anywho, can anyone tell me if they had swollen, sore breast and sore nipples when they first started taking this type of bc? My stomach is also a little tender to the touch.
Avatar f tn I, too, wash and condition my normally dry hair everyday. I, too, went to my Dr. who put me on Zoloft. It's been a week tomorrow and it is no better. In fact, it is worse - it started in the top and then went to the left side, etc. No one I have talked to has ever heard of this. I have a call in to my GYN but after reading the postings above, I believe I will contact a dermatologist. Unbelievable!
Avatar f tn i have three solid days of going through both a tampon and pad within an hour. i also have severe backache and cramping, and just generally feel ill, which i realize could be just normal period stuff. however, over the last two years i have become increasingly aware of this awful stabbing pain that i get in my pelvic region. i will just be sitting down and it will come on so suddenly and harshly it makes me jump and cry out.
