depo-provera

Avatar n tn The docotors believe I may have a progesterone problem due to Depo Provera. I was on Depo for 6 years and went off the shot in Sept. Does anyone know if the effects of this shot can linger and cause lower progesterone levels?

Avatar m tn It's March of '11 and I still havent had a period, I didnt have my period, or really ever blot during the use of the Depo Provera, and I've taken tests to see if I'm pregnant but they've came out negative. Is this normal? When should I expect my period?
Avatar n tn You girls have to discontinue Depo Provera at once and I highly recommend never putting any hormones into your bodies ever again. I have experienced a living nightmare from Depo Prover for the past three years. After I got the Depo shot I went home and researched on the web about the drug. I cried for three hours in fear that that could happen to me. What happened was worse. Five days after the shot a menstrual cycle started that would not cease. It wasn't a normal cycle.
Avatar n tn I am a 30 year old female smoker. I have 3 questions concerning Depo-Provera and PVC's 1) is the depo shot going to have an adverse effet on my PVC's? No, in fact this may improve the symptoms. 2) I have a swollen atrium from a recent pregnancy and do you think it will have an adverse effect on that as well? Probably not 3) Are Depo shots heart safe? If you continue to smoke you increase your risk of MI, stroke and clots.
Avatar n tn here is my web site and depo group web address. please feel free to take a look and ask me questions!!! love...kimmie http://health.groups.yahoo.
932329 tn?1245432435 Hi Ladies, I recently went to my local family planning clinic and received the Depo provera shot. That was on 12/15/09. No more than ten minutes after I received the shot I got a migraine. It didn't last long but I noticed that the next couple of days I was feeling some what nauseous. I do consider my self to be somewhat anxious at times, and I can get depressed. But I've never been diagnosed. And I can handle my self pretty well.
Avatar f tn In October, I got my first shot of Depo-Provera. I know several women on depo and they have all told me they have had the same experience: no periods, no spotting and no other side effects whatsoever. My experience has been horrible. For the first 6 weeks, all was well, no bleeding/spotting and no other symptoms. A few weeks ago, however, I began spotting. Every day it became heavier.
Avatar f tn im 20 yrs old and i have been on the depo shot for a month and i have been on my period for 16 days when will it stop??? and is it normal ???
Avatar n tn Aspirin will not fully offset this reisk. You should do your best or ask for your physicians help to stop smoking.
1344197 tn?1392822771 Claims of weight loss, increasing energy, improve mood, are safer, and many others have been made. Hopefully this article can help you answer questions and dismiss many of the myths surrounding this highly published, highly marketed topic. The term Bioidentical Hormones is not a medical term, it is a marketing term used to imply an exact copy of the hormones produced in the body.
Avatar n tn thinks either adenomyosis or endo, but she told me if yaz doesnt help the next step might be the depo provera shot I dont know much about it but that may be a possibility for you, or possibly even lupron depo she suggested, even though I think you get many side effects from it. It's like a fake menopause! Well good luck lemme know how things works out!
Avatar n tn I've been taking 500mg metformin myself and I have not experienced any weight loss. I am actually taking it for diabetes treatment. But it has not helped with my weight loss.
280418 tn?1306329510 I stopped the pill and started Depo Provera injections, and the migraines ceased. Now, 10 years later, they started again. I have had 3 in two weeks. Interestingly enough, I had a couple this summer (hadn't been on the pill in years). I started the pill (Yaz) this Jan. and now the migraines have really increased in frequency. I stopped the pill last night to see if they at least decrease in frequency. Does any research support an increase/onset of migraines with taking the pill?
503727 tn?1210442710 As soon as I get into a place I get so dizzy and my vision is all messed up. I get so hot and sweaty and my heart races. I want my life back. I still dont believe that its just anxiety causing all of this. I feel like I have something else wrong that the doctors cant find even though i have had bloodwork, mri, ekg, and they were all normal. I started taking .25mg of xanax once a day. still dont feel any better yet. So if anybody has any help please give it to me.
Avatar f tn Last shot was in Jan 2009 and I didnt get my periods until June 2009. I only had 2 periods June and July and not after that, even those, I wasn't ovulating. Last month went through a HSG and my tubes are all normal. But due to the Depo provera other than problems with getting periods, I also have some liver problems- high counts of SGOT and SGPT. So whatever meds are to be given to me, this has to be borne in mind. Now, as next step there are two suggestions: 1.
Avatar n tn It also weekend my bones. all that from getting the shot 1 time. I wouldn't recommend the depo provera shot.
Avatar n tn I am a 40 yr. old female. Had a hysterectomy a year ago (uterus only removed) due to severe adenomyosis. Since April of this year, I have had 3 hemorrhagic cysts ranging from 4 to 7 cm. Two leaked and sealed off - one ruptured and I was very ill. All were very painful. In my 20's, I struggled with infertilty and miscarriages. I took Clomid for 13 months. I finally carried a pregnancy to term when I was 35.
Avatar n tn I would take my med to the ER.It could be a drug interaction, or even signs of an oncoming stroke. Do not wait around. Better safe than sorry.
Avatar f tn i have been tested for cancer and was told @ 1 time i had cancer cells and then i went back and they didnt find anything. my doctor did find cysts under my arms and one in my breast. What is really wrong do i have HIV, cancer, or is it side effects oF the depo??
Avatar f tn And nothing seems to help. I've tried aspri - doesn't work. I try massaging my breast and shoulders and that seems to help a tiny bit. Usually the pain is very dull...but one night I woke up in excruciating pain for about 10 seconds, then it went back to being dull. I'm 24, and I am being treated for Anxiety/Panic Disorder. My Psychiatrist does not think it's related. Does ANYONE have ANY ideas about what could be going on with me?!?!?!
Avatar f tn I was on depo one time and wanted to eat all the time and had to stop so I wouldn't gain weight. I then got on lo orvil pill (something close to it and spelling). I didn't have a period at all and loved it. I set a timer on my phone and took it in the morning. Easy to get off of if want to have a baby and pregnant within months after. I am going to get it after I have my baby. I love not having a period!
Avatar f tn I was on depo provera (sp) which I got a shot every three months. The first month and a half I was fine, the last month and 1/2 I would bleed. I was also on lupron-which is suppose to stop your period because your body is suppose to think you are going through menopause. I was told at the time I was taking it I could only get three injections, one every month. My bleeding didn't stop. I had the hot flashes and night sweats. plus one of the side effects was headaches.
Avatar n tn My friend just went from the patch to the pill and her Dr said she had to use a back up method for 7 days. But according to http://www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/2965.html they say you are protected immediately. "If a woman's previous method was injectable birth control, such as Depo Provera, she needs to begin using the COCs (estrogen and progestin combined oral contraceptive) or POPs (progestin-only pill) when the next shot is scheduled in order to be continually protected from pregnancy.
264156 tn?1206990594 So basically I felt every slice of the knife and every tug and pull and burn. I took a pregnancy test and it came back negative. I wouldn't be very far along if I were, not sure it would show this early. Thanks again for your response.
Avatar n tn I checked for normal cycle using basal thermometer, and it's still the same pattern as in my 30's. I can't take pills (migraines + stroke family history) or use IUD (abnormal bleeding). I'm presently using a combination of condoms and timing. We dislike the condoms! My questions: How likely is it that I would really become pregnant at this age? Wouldn't tubal ligation be killing a mouse with an atom bomb? What would you suggest for contraception? Thanks!
Avatar n tn Another possible factor I failed to mention is that I discontinued using Depo-provera October 14, and about that time this flare-up began. I don't know if there's a hormonal relationship or not as I'm breastfeeding and my normal cycles haven't yet resumed. At the moment I'm continuing to try to destress my life, avoiding migraine trigger foods, trying to regulate my sleep habits (they are erratic), and I will certainly try vitamin B2 (is that the same as Riboflavin?).
Avatar f tn Hi All! Need some suggestions/advice. I am a 54 yr old woman who has been spotting/bleeding for the past 3 1/2 years. EVERY DAY! Only went away for 5 months 2 1/2 yrs ago, then on again. Just had an endometrial biopsy at the "clinic" (charity care), and they say I have this complex atypical endometrial hyperplasia. They are telling me I need a hysterectomy, but before I can get it I need a hysteroscopy first. Telling me it is pre-cancerous, but that 40-55% is usually cancerous.
Avatar n tn Then you go on some sort of BC again, but not taking placebos, so you don't cycle or have a period, so the endo doesn't grow (I'm on the Depo-Provera shot now). If you take things to prevent the endo from growing, there's no reason why you should need a hyster. If the endo is really severe, they may take stuff, but it's not that common. Endo can be controlled, though you may need occasional surgeries to remove adhesions.
