Avatar n tn About a year ago i had a pelvic ultrasound and they found blood clots in my uterus and this was caused by being on the depo provera shot for 2 years.I have been passing them for a bout a yaer now.Maybe you should set up an appt with your gy.Im sure they will be able to tell you why your passing blood clots as they did me.Hope everthings alright for you.
Avatar n tn You girls have to discontinue Depo Provera at once and I highly recommend never putting any hormones into your bodies ever again. I have experienced a living nightmare from Depo Prover for the past three years. After I got the Depo shot I went home and researched on the web about the drug. I cried for three hours in fear that that could happen to me. What happened was worse. Five days after the shot a menstrual cycle started that would not cease. It wasn't a normal cycle.
Avatar n tn I am having very heavy bleeding (changing every 15 min at times) Thick, dark, large clotting and severe cramping and pain. I have seen my family physician and an OB-GYN. The answers there are "it's because of the shot, everyone is different, it will stop in time." I have been put on 2 different pills. One of them was three pills a day, progressing to one pill a day. I am now on progesterone for five days. I have taken 3 of these pills and there is no relief at all.
Avatar f tn About 11 days ago, I started what I thought was a period. I am on the Depo Provera shot for birth control, and for the majority of my time on the shot (appx 1.5 years) I didn't have any major bleeding. In March, I had extremely heavy (heavier than a normal period) bleeding, with large clots (some the size of the palm of my hand). I called my OBGYN, and they said "this is normal. It's break through bleeding. We'll just move your shot up to 10 weeks instead of 12.
Avatar n tn lol... 'slug-clot'... that's gonna be the new word of the day. I avoided the Depo-Lupron (did the provera shot instead) because of the side effects, but I do seem to remember from the handouts and video that since it puts you in menopause that parts of dead tissue from the uterine lining can be sloughed off. Maybe it's related to that? I'd ask anyway, and I think your gyn would get a kick out of it being referred to as a "slug-clot" (lol...
315867 tn?1193593448 Have faith. I was on depo for a year and got pregnant while I was still on it. Keep trying and good luck!

Avatar n tn Hi! I had my first baby in January of 2006 and I got the depo provera shot 2 days after she was born. It lasted for 3 months, and then I had to get another one... But I decided not to because after I had the baby I gained 50 pounds in 3 months because of the shot. So I went on the pills... 3 months after I stopped the Depo, I was pregnant again! So in my case it didn't take long to conceive after getting the stupid thing. I hope everything works out for you, and you get what your wishing for!!!!
Avatar n tn Definately the biggest mistake of my life, stinky discharge, clotting and very heavy periods non stop since June (4months). I have been on the depo 3 years up til 4months ago. Was only 10stone when I was pregnant 3 years ago, went straight onto the depo after having him, and am now 14stone. it is sickening, the weight has not gone even though I stopped taking the depo, but the periods, cramps, clots, smell, discharge have been full on non stop.
Avatar n tn She told me to never eat anything white (except chicken). Well her advice worked. It's something about the Depo Provera and and inability to metabolize carbs while Depo is still hiding in your tissues. She told me to eat this way until I lost the weight I want, and that then I could eat bread, salad, and the foods I love again. She also said the weight will not come back, as the depo will be gone. So I look forward to that in another month or so. I have already lost 45 lbs!
Avatar n tn -Abnormal Weight gain (8 months ago) -Stretch marks/underarms (8 months ago) -Severe abdominal cramping-- awaken in the middle of the night (7 months ago) -Received 1st Depo Provera Shot (4 months ago) -1st month on shot, no bleeding present, only vaginal dryness (4 months ago) -Heavy/deep bright red colored stretch marks on abdomen and hips.
Avatar f tn im 20 yrs old and i have been on the depo shot for a month and i have been on my period for 16 days when will it stop??? and is it normal ???
Avatar n tn I called my doctor and explained to her that It was working for the first week I took it and also explained to her about the black discharge (or old blood) And she said that the Provera is probably taking longer than usual to take effect and told me to continue taking it and keep my appointment with her February 16. I also read somewhere that if you have abnormal bleeding and the doctor cannot figure out why, NOT to take Provera??
Avatar f tn HI. I am 35 and had my 2nd Depo-Provera shot in mid-July. In the last 4.5 months, I have been bleeding all but maybe 3 weeks...and those 21 days have been spread out a day here... a day there. I called my OBGYN today and they recommended 800mg of Motrin, 3 times a day for 5 days. Does this make sense? I am not planning to continue with the Depo, but using Motrin (a blood thinner, no?) and in that amount seems like it could lead to worse. A brief medical history: I am anemic naturally.
Avatar n tn thinks either adenomyosis or endo, but she told me if yaz doesnt help the next step might be the depo provera shot I dont know much about it but that may be a possibility for you, or possibly even lupron depo she suggested, even though I think you get many side effects from it. It's like a fake menopause! Well good luck lemme know how things works out!
Avatar f tn I had my son 6 months ago. I got the depo provera shot when he was 2 months old on August 25. I did have unprotected sex a few times before I got the shot, but my boyfriend always pulled out and I always used the plan b afterwards. The doctors gave me both a blood and urine pregnancy test the day I got the shot and all were negative. Anyway, fast forward to November 11.
Avatar n tn hi, i am a 22 year old. i have been on depo-provera for 3 years now. for the last 1 month ive been bleeding everyday. sometimes it stops for a day and comes back. i have done a transvaginal scan and everything seems fine except they said i have got a polycystic ovaries. I am very worried especially with all this cancers.
Avatar n tn He is reluctant to remove my ovaries and put me in menopause and has referred me to a hematologist to reassess the severity of the clotting disorder. He hopes to get clearance to give me Depo-Provera. Is there anything else we should consider? I'd really like an explanation for these cysts as well as treatment. I am concerned about cancer. Thank you in advance for any recommendations you can give.
Avatar n tn They told me it can take a while especially if your HCG levels are not back to normal mine were not ( i think there was pregnancy tissue left behind because at 6 weeks post DNC I had major clotting) but again DR and 2nd opinion said I was fine. Hang in there it can take quite some time to get back to normal.....yet I am worried about the same thing did Dr screw something up since we are STILL NOT PG.
503727 tn?1210442710 As soon as I get into a place I get so dizzy and my vision is all messed up. I get so hot and sweaty and my heart races. I want my life back. I still dont believe that its just anxiety causing all of this. I feel like I have something else wrong that the doctors cant find even though i have had bloodwork, mri, ekg, and they were all normal. I started taking .25mg of xanax once a day. still dont feel any better yet. So if anybody has any help please give it to me.
298579 tn?1192250448 The only thing I have seen that helps the pain is an herbal wrap that you heat up(you can get them @ walmart), and I lay that on my stomach. I have been on the depo shot for four years, I have asked if this is a contributing factor and have been told no. I have no kids. I hope someone comes up with an explanation, because I am too young to be giving up on my sex life!
Avatar n tn I am a 28 year old woman with irregular ongoing menstruation for 2 months, sometimes heavier than others but usually very light with minimal clotting. I am over weight, and until about 4 months ago didn't have periods at all since the age of 17 when my mother made me get a depo shot. I was diagnosed with amennoreah. had the hormone pills once. Never looked into the problem again, because I have no insurance. Had testing for fasting labs show recently a fatty liver, not sure if that...
Avatar f tn Remember doctors are humans too, and sometimes they forget that we are not doctors, and cannot afford some of these costly procedures, especially if they are not needed. I was on Lupron-Depo and Depo-Provera, Lupron is like a pseudo-menopause, some (not all cause we are all different) have night sweats, mood-changes etc. I did not notice such problems and Lupron worked short term for me. However longer term I was on Depo-Provera. It work fine.
Avatar n tn not much is too gross on here, but this is kinda icky) I was started on Depo-Provera for my endometriosis last week. I know it can cause bleeding, especially in the first month or so. My periods were always nice and regular, except for one that occured right after my cyst was found. I was so regular that I could lay out the pads I would use for the entire cycle right at the beginning. Well, I started what I think is a regular period two days ago.
Avatar n tn I have researched both conditions, but PCOS never talks about chronic pain before, during and after menstruating, and pain during and after intercourse. My bowels are very messed up and I get really bad pain in my rectum. That is where my mom had a lot of it. I have no idea. None of my docs will do laparascopy. I have only had one U/S and a very long sharp vaginal probe, I forget what that is called. My blood clots are gigantic and never ending. I need some input from you intelligent ladies!!!
Avatar n tn She said she took SEVERAL HPT and 2 blood ALL NEGATIVE. Finally when her Doc gave her a RX for provera to start her period she was tested one more time 12/9 almost a month later she FINALLY GOT a positive blood test. Her Docs theory is she just ovulated VERY late in her cycle that month!!! How crazy is that!!? It took almost a WHOLE month for her to show positive for pregnant. I mean you are alittle further than a month though. Have you got an ultrasound?
Avatar f tn It sounds to me like some of the people who are writing may be confusing the Mirena with Depo Provera--those are definitely side effects of the Depo shot. In fact, the copper IUD has been a bigger cause of problems than the Mirena in my clientelle. It tends to make period cramping worse, And the bleeding heavier! Women who like it, really swear by it though. The Mirena, in my experience usually lightens the flow tremendously--or even stops the bleeding altogether.
