depo-provera

Avatar n tn depo provera effects every one different. when i was on it, it stopped my af all together. however when my mother in law went on it she had af for an entire month. you long bleeding could be your body trying to clear out your system from delivery. if it persists give the doc a call and ask. there are no stupid questions.

505995 tn?1211554807 Has anyone ever been on the depo provera shot before? If so how did it go for you?
Avatar f tn I had had baby in Sept 04 and then went on Depo Provera a month later. A year later I started getting manic depressant and just didnt feel right. This was the second time that this happened to me on Depo Provera so I immediately went off. I let my system clean out for a month and then went onto Lo Ovoral pills and into the 8th day of the second pack I started to get these horrible migraines. I have never been sickly or have had headhaches in my life.
Avatar f tn Goodman, I wonder if you have any information about how Depo-Provera can change the symptoms of ovarian cancer v. ovarian cysts? I have been on Depo-Provera for two years and it seems that it would mask all the symptoms that are most likely to identify a cyst vs. a tumour. Do you know anything about how the two would look different in the presence of Depo-Provera?
Avatar n tn Then I was diagnosed with osteopenia, hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and NOW depo-induced menopause. Are they all related to depo-provera use? I was taking it for 5 years. In what order do I treat this set of disorders? Why is my jaw the primary target? Will the bone loss stop, reverse? My endocrinologist said I should be taking hormone-replacement therapy, but that's what started me on this road to begin with! Help! I really don't want to have menopause twice. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn I was given a shot of depo-provera yesterday...and when I asked about side affects all I was told was nausea, headache, and dizziness. After reading quite a few articles online, it seems there are a lot more serious side affects than I was led to believe. I've been having lots of chest pain and shortness of breath, but the doctor doesn't seem to think it's related to the shot.
432411 tn?1206475709 I took depo provera for about 6 years, starting in 2000. Just over three months after I stopped taking the shots I developed a nodule in my neck which was eventually diagnosed as thyroid cancer. I have absolutely no history of thyroid problems of any kind in family and I had had no problems before the depo.
Avatar f tn Knowing that Depo-provera ( the birth control shot) has provera in the name, can that also cause breast cancer?
Avatar n tn I was on depo provera and gained 40 pounds in 6 months... my dr. told me that the hormones that are in it mess with your body bad... If i were you i would get off it and try a differnt means of birth control... It has also been proven to increasse your chance of Osteoporosis! I also had the same problem as you... almost spotting for 3 months, when that happened (along with the weight gain) my dr. made me get off it...
Avatar n tn You girls have to discontinue Depo Provera at once and I highly recommend never putting any hormones into your bodies ever again. I have experienced a living nightmare from Depo Prover for the past three years. After I got the Depo shot I went home and researched on the web about the drug. I cried for three hours in fear that that could happen to me. What happened was worse. Five days after the shot a menstrual cycle started that would not cease. It wasn't a normal cycle.
Avatar n tn you can always call your pharmacist and ask to make sure. My husband and I are TTC and I took the Depo shot twice and stopped 11/04 and then started BCP till 8/05 and havent had a period since except with provera. I think the Depo is still in my system and is screwing everything up. I hope the provera works for you and best of luck with the clomid.
Avatar n tn I was supposed to receive my last shot of depo in July and I didn't receive the shot in hopes that I would get back to a normal period but nothing like that has happened yesterday was the first day I had any abnormal discharge n it wasn't spotting it was like creamy. Brown in color and had no smell help! Wats goin on?
Avatar f tn I have 2 children, 10 years old and 7 years old, and have hot flashes during the day, and worse at night, along with cold sweats. The reason the doctor insisted on the depo was because of maternal family history of estrogen-fed breast cancer. My question is whether the depo shot is inducing menopause hot flashes, or do I need to be concerned about other things, such as cancer. One sign of cancer is night sweats. I also have unexplained bruising sometimes.
Avatar f tn I will never go on Depo Provera again. My daughter was on Depo Provera at college, and discontinued the shot and has lost that weight and is thin again. Fitday.com's free site has helped me keep up with my carb intake, and also tells me how many calories, how much fat etc. I use. It does this automatically when I put my food in for the day. Also Magic Bus has a forum where you can learn how to lose weight quick and even post on a challenge to keep you honest and responsible.
Avatar n tn here is my web site and depo group web address. please feel free to take a look and ask me questions!!! love...kimmie http://health.groups.yahoo.
Avatar n tn I have been taking the Depo Provera injection for 3 years. My next one is due on the 1st December, but I will be in Italy. I am in Italy at the moment and I am coming back on the 20th. I need to know if I can get the depo when I am back (22nd December) The 1st of Decmeber will be 12 weeks since I last had it. I am not currently engaging in sexual activity, and don't intend to until I come back to the UK, as that is where my boyfriend is.
215385 tn?1201806501 Believe me I didn't want to go on birth control I wanted to have a baby, but when you're on depo, you don't ovulate, and since I had a cyst from the depo I wasn't ovulating even if the depo was out of my system, she put me on bc and the first month on it, is the first month I ovulated in 5 1/2 years and I got preggo!
Avatar n tn No form of birthcontrol has worked for me to regulate my periods, and the side effects from these pills were awful. I am currently on Depo provera, and am having a hard time. I have been bleeding for several weeks, rather than not. It may be that our body due to the hormone irregularities is not affected as it should be by these drugs. So far I have had only one treatment work, but that was to stop my periods completly.
Avatar f tn Ever since, I've looked into Depo and have seen people get loss of fertility, cancer, bone marrow loss, and several other big long term issues which only raised my concerns more. I want to switch my birth control method. What i like about depo: 3 months between, I have a terrible memory. No period. High effectiveness, and after the shot, no worries So how does an implant birth control such as implanon compare?
Avatar n tn The pelvic scan showed no issues but the trans vaginal revealed a right side ovarian cyst, which my GP felt was most likely functional. I am on Depo Provera contraceptive jab and have not had a period in many years so this seemed odd to me!! I am now seeing a private gynaecologist who arranged another scan - he didn't seem to consider functional cysts an option either.
Avatar n tn I started taking the shot june 5 and the first two weeks I didnt spot or anything but every since then I have been bleeding and it is now july 29 i will like to know wat 8is wrong
Avatar f tn I've been using Depo-provera for 1 year and 4 months, and have been aware of not staying on it for longer than 2 years due to the risk of bone loss that comes with longterm use. I've looked into Implanon but fear that because it hasn't been out for too long, the side affects have yet to be truely determined and bone loss may also be found with the use of Implanon.
Avatar f tn i was on the pill, but sometimes i forgot to take it and i don't take it at the same time always. i was reading up on depo provera...i've heard some great things & then i have heard some complete horror stories! can anyone on this pill tell me about their experiences please? i have read you don't get your period anymore, tons of weight gain, hair loss, increase your risk of getting breast cancer...i mean is all of this true.
Avatar n tn Women were made to have their period! I was given depo-provera from my doctor and my period stopped. I was never told this would happen. Then ovarian cysts began to grow on both of my ovaries so I stopped taking the shot. A short while later I became pregnant and had a very risky pregnancy because of these cysts. They grew to 10cm on one side and 8 cm on the other. It was a very painful pregnancy and the baby tried to come twice 2 months before it was time.
Avatar n tn because im due for another depo shot in 2010 should i get it or just dnt take anything and let my body regulate?
Avatar f tn I have a question for you. Have you ever been surgically diagnosed with endo or have you been on the depo shot and other period suppressed medications for a while? This is important because if you are not treating the disease through excision (cutting out) you are only using these meds as a band-aide. Lupron is hit or miss with some people. I have met some that have horrifying side effects like you describe with hair etc.
Avatar f tn I had two chocolate cysts that were around 6 cm x 6 cm x 6 cm, the size of a tennis ball. My gynecologist wants me to take depo provera until I am in menopause. I am only 41. I refuse to take it afraid of all the side effects. I agree we are almost made to feel like we HAVE to take it. My surgeon was very forceful about me having to take it. She does not know I never filled the prescription. Not even willing to take Alesse the birth control pill. I am just waiting and seeing.
