I HAVE IRREGULAR PERIODS AND HAVENT HAD ONE SINCE JANUARY. MY DOCTOR PUT ME ON PROVERA AND I TOOK IT FOR 10 DAYS. I STARTED MY PERIOD ON JUNE 3 AND I AM STILL BLEEDING HEAVY WITH CRAMPS. IS THIS NORMAL? HOW LONG DID YOU GUYS BLEED IF YOU HAVE EVER TAKEN PROVERA. IVE NEVER HAD A PERIOD FOR 10 DAYS BUT I HAVE BLED FOR UP TO 4 MONTHS FROM OTHER COMPLICATIONS. I TALKED TO MY DOCTOR AND SHE SAID ITS NORMAL BECAUSE 4 MONTHS OF BLOOD WERE ON MY UTERINE LINING AND IT NEEDS TO SHED. IM WORRIED.

In order to get pregnant though, you need to not only be ovulating but you also need to be producing fertile cervical mucous and a thick uterine lining after you ovulate. The reason Depo-Provera is so long lasting is because of the way it works. The levels of DMPA (the synthetic hormone in Depo-Provera) gradually increase over a three week period, at which time they reach their peak levels. After three weeks the DMPA levels begin to decrease exponentially.

for the past 2 1/2 years I have been bleeding abnormally. It started when I first started the depo provera. I stayed on it for 9 months trying to work with my OB GYN to figure out why I was bleeding so much. (I have read articles by physicians that swear that Progesterone cream is the key to youth for all women and other that say that uterine and endometrial cancer is imminent with this type of treatment; everyone has a different report.) A very difficult two weeks ensued, I literally felt as though I was going to die. Energy level and morale at an all-time low, all of my original symptoms returned and exceeded anything I could imagine.

m not having any more children and I have tried everything to stop the pain and bleeding I was told depo provera is only a quick fix for dysfunctional uterine bleeding. I have heavy cycles as well and I pass a lot of large clots. I go through a lot of pads the first 2-3 days. I went through all the tests as well and they came back fine. My gyn found out through my laparoscopy. Let me know how things are going for you. I know going through too many cycles can lead to more serious situations.

I just got my first depo-provera shot four weeks ago and I waited eight days to have unprotected sex. I read that it was normal for the shot to thicken the uterine lining and that you're bound to pass some of it, but I've never seen anything like this exit my body before. I've had the usual light bleeding that comes with the shot up unto this point and I thought I started menstruating. The bleeding's weird.

has taken me off the Depo Shots and I was put on Birth Control Pills. The blood was very dark red and blood clots. I was given an altrsound was told nothing was wrong. Is this normal with the Depo Provera?

there are several birth controls that can stop menstration. Depo-provera and implanon for sure will keep the body from making the uterine lining and therefore no menstration.

Hi. If the vaginal bleeding is really heavy, I think you should consider consulting with another gynecologist sooner, rather than waiting until April 1. I'm just concerned that your condition might worsen while you're waiting for your doctor to return. Are you still taking depo-provera? If you're not, I suspect that an abrupt withdrawal of that hormone could have precipitated the vaginal bleeding. But this is just my theory.

Okay so from what i have read there are many steps between hyperplasia and full-blown uterine cancer — and early identification and intervention for uterine abnormalities is highly successful. Did your doctor say that you had hyperplasia or uterine cancer? I need more information so that I can help you. why cant you find a job because of this?

Hi, I am not sure of what type of antibiotic might affect other contraceptives like the pill, but I am pretty sure that she will be fine on the shot. I myself had the depo-provera shot about 10 years ago. I only had one shot and I didn't have a period until a whole year later. It actually took me over another year after my period returned before, I finally became pregnant. The depo-provera shot is extremely effective.

I was told in some women it could take up to 1 year for it to leave your system and another year to conceive in all honesty i HATE depo-provera and will never take it again for as long as i live

s no way to tell for sure, but more and more proof is coming out that autism is NOT linked to vaccines, and because depo provera is an active hormone shot and not a vaccine, I highly doubt that it is the cause. Are your other children girls by any chance? Very often a family that has an autistic child only has 1 (almost always a boy), and the rest of the children are "normal". They are thinking more and more that it's a genetic mutation.

On 6th February it was 125 U/ml. I took Injection Depo provera on January according to my gynaecologist advise. Is it safe to take another Depo Provera injection Or is there any other management for this condition. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

not sure about the breast feeding part but a lot of women on this site might agree with me to stay clear of depo-provera. I was on this bc for 2 and a half years and have been ttc for the same length of time with no joy. i dont see my doc til the 6th of may,had a pap done it was normal but my uterus came back with cell change the uterine lining has been thick for 5 months now,she thinks it may be a polyp,my mom and just about every women on her side had uterine cancer i had precancerous cells on my cervix 17 years ago and had over 1/2 of my cervix burnt off.

I freaked out, and went and got depo provera the next day. ( 3 month one) I still feel panicking and i couldnt take it so i went to planned parenthood and i got next choice on 8/17/12, They said it could still be effective. (not as much as if i would have taken it the next day:( Im very concerned whether i can be pregnant or if i did everything i could. I also saw that even if you are pregnant you can get a period????

m outside the normal range of time after stopping Depo Provera to have gotten my periods back. Could Depo be causing these problems or does it sound like something else could be a problem?

I was on depo provera and gained 40 pounds in 6 months... my dr. told me that the hormones that are in it mess with your body bad... If i were you i would get off it and try a differnt means of birth control... It has also been proven to increasse your chance of Osteoporosis! I also had the same problem as you... almost spotting for 3 months, when that happened (along with the weight gain) my dr. made me get off it...

If your lining gets too thick, as in my case, it can lead to uterine cancer. I would def take the provera to help your lining shed. Your first af on provera might be pretty heavy and long, at least this is what happened to me since I had not had a period (wasn't ov) for several months. I did have bleeding some months but it was considered anovulation bleeding, not a true period and thus my lining was not shedding. My lining reached the right thickness and Im now 10wks pg!
