Depo provera and anxiety

Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera and anxiety

Avatar m tn I just went to the GYN and got my annual pelvic exam and my first shot of depo and so far everything has been okay. However, once I didn't get my period I started to worry and I took a pregnancy test just in case and it did come out negative. But I'm still freaking out since I am only 18 and really do not want to be pregnant. So is it normal to be late for your period after getting the shot? or should I take another test? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Started getting really bad headaches about 3 years ago, bad anxiety 2 years ago and now I have the night sweats etc. I'Ve never really linked it to the depo until now but the benefits of being on it were so strong I am reluctant to come off it!
Avatar n tn Just from my experence I was on depo shot and you have signs of pregnancy and are not pregnant and there is no way possiable you could feel you baby kick so soon you don't start feeling any movement until your about 4months pregnant I had a baby about 5months ago tomorrow is 5months and well I didn't actually really feel him move until I was 4months along maybe a lil ferther and I had a m/c on the depo shot the shot was in my systom but the shot killed the baby well anyways I don't think a baby
Avatar n tn Hi, I 1st got Depo-Provera when I was 16 and I stoped when I was 21 I am 23 now and will be 24 on dec, 3 of this year. I have tryed to get pregnat for I think a year. Me and my Huby have sex as much as we can like every other day. I have been Calendar tracking My menstrual cycles and they have been like this...
Avatar n tn Same here had one shot a year ago and the anxiety and sweating is bad we can't conceive and I went from 110 pounds to 135 it *****
Avatar f tn We used a condom and it broke at some point and he kept going for like a minute and put another one on till he finished. He says he didn’t *** in me but I am not sure. It’s been 3 days since it happened. Today I started getting bad cramps in my stomach...should I get plan b....or is there a chance the Depo worked. Is the bleeding I’ve been experiencing my ovulation coming back or is it my period?
Avatar n tn For me, it seems the symptoms are so broad they are hard to associate. And it becomes more obvious after missing a dose. Also symptoms such as chronic pain and anxiety are not usually taken seriously by most doctors. Correct me if Im wrong but a doctor seeing an uninsured 19 or 21 year old poor female for so called "pain", doesnt give a ****. Unextraordinary patients recieve unextraordinary care.
Avatar n tn How was depo provera for you?
Avatar n tn I was given a shot of depo-provera yesterday...and when I asked about side affects all I was told was nausea, headache, and dizziness. After reading quite a few articles online, it seems there are a lot more serious side affects than I was led to believe. I've been having lots of chest pain and shortness of breath, but the doctor doesn't seem to think it's related to the shot.
Avatar n tn I had a previous post about wondering if I am pregnant or not, but I am also wondering if it is possible for me to get pregnant so soon. In May of 2004 I begin the Depo-Provera shot and then got my second shot in August, before my third shot in November I decided to switch to the pill due to some complications. So I have been on the pill since mid November of 2004. I know that Depo-Provera can stay in your system anywhere from 12 to 24 months. My husband and I have recently decided to TTC.
432411 tn?1206475709 I took depo provera for about 6 years, starting in 2000. Just over three months after I stopped taking the shots I developed a nodule in my neck which was eventually diagnosed as thyroid cancer. I have absolutely no history of thyroid problems of any kind in family and I had had no problems before the depo.
5363805 tn?1366921550 I am suffering from depression and anxiety due to depo-provera (already talked to an OB, and she said that it HAS to be from that), and I am barely coping. It's been 6 days and I'm already ready to give up on myself, and I see no end in sight. I'm losing hope. I wish I had never taken it. I'm also suffering from fatigue and headaches. My head feels so heavy, I can barely hold it up.
Avatar f tn I learned that if I take smaller bites (than even normal) and chew them better, I don't have near as much trouble. Another thing is anxiety - you know how you get that "lump in your throat" feeling when you're going to cry? Anxiety can cause that to be an "all the time" thing - yep, I had that too. We get upset about one thing or another and we always have that uncertainty about our health hanging over our heads.
Avatar f tn I just recieved the depo-provera shot and am feeling very panicky and nervous and anxious. Is this side effect going to last the entire time the shot is in my body, or will I become more used to the drug and it will go away?
Avatar n tn I have been on Depo for 10 yrs. I have had extreme anxiety for the last year and in the last 6 mths my breasts are so tender I can't stand it. I also feel bloated and look bloated all fo the time. I just want to know if these are side effects to the shot. I want to get off of the shot, but I don't want to get pregnant and my husband is not willing to get a vasectomy. We don't want any more children.
Avatar f tn I will never go on Depo Provera again. My daughter was on Depo Provera at college, and discontinued the shot and has lost that weight and is thin again.'s free site has helped me keep up with my carb intake, and also tells me how many calories, how much fat etc. I use. It does this automatically when I put my food in for the day. Also Magic Bus has a forum where you can learn how to lose weight quick and even post on a challenge to keep you honest and responsible.
Avatar n tn I was given all types of hormones like enjuvia, provera, and yaz. It finally stop and I have been irregular ever since. I no longer take any type birth control. I only use condoms and the withdraw method. Now I was told I will have a hard time having children. Going in for a fertility test this week.
Avatar n tn Well I got my period immediately after the first pack, went and saw the main doctor and was told that the resident was uninformed about the side effects of Depo, and they were foolish to tell me that I had PCOS. It ABSOLUTELY was an effect of Depo. I've been regular ever since! Like I said, you should be fine. If it takes you a little longer than you were hoping to get back to normal don't freak out.
Avatar n tn No form of birthcontrol has worked for me to regulate my periods, and the side effects from these pills were awful. I am currently on Depo provera, and am having a hard time. I have been bleeding for several weeks, rather than not. It may be that our body due to the hormone irregularities is not affected as it should be by these drugs. So far I have had only one treatment work, but that was to stop my periods completly.
Avatar n tn I have the same issues when I am using the pill but I am fine on depo provera. Hormones DEFINITELY can cause anxiety/panic attacks. My suggestion is to talk to your doctor about different birth control options. Talk to them about estrogen sensitivity and I think you will feel better. It seems you have the same issue as I do and I assure you it will go away after you stop taking the pill... sadly. Good luck talk to your doctors about switching !
Avatar f tn I struggle sometimes with health anxiety and would really only love to hear positive and helpful tips. My doctors haven't been much help. I haven't tried meds yet because I want to try more natural ways first before considering that. Thanks in advance!
Avatar f tn By the way this was a very unexpected pregnancy. I was protected so I thought with the depo-provera shot and my kids are 14 and 18, so this is really an anxiety situation within itself. I've also had high blood pressure since i was 17 yrs. old, but with both of my other pregnancies, i was younger, more fit and not heavy. Now i am 38 years old weighing 230lbs and not as healthy and this is a scary situation. I don't know what is wrong with me. The older i get the more i worry.
Avatar n tn I was on depo for about a month after my son was born, and I said never again. I'm now having alot of problems and I'm not sure if its from that or just other things. I would say go get checked out to be safe. I have my period that last me for 2 months straight but this time it lasted 2 months straight took 1 week off, started back up and now its still on an every other day routine.
Avatar n tn She told me to never eat anything white (except chicken). Well her advice worked. It's something about the Depo Provera and and inability to metabolize carbs while Depo is still hiding in your tissues. She told me to eat this way until I lost the weight I want, and that then I could eat bread, salad, and the foods I love again. She also said the weight will not come back, as the depo will be gone. So I look forward to that in another month or so. I have already lost 45 lbs!
Avatar n tn Ok I am a day late here, but I hope you get this and it can be of help, I was on Depo for 3 years and when I went off I got AF pretty fast but then it has been irregular since. I was off everything for the year after depo and never really had a normal peroid. THen I went back on the pill and even that didnt really regulate it. It regulated the start date a little but some months would be heavy, others light, sometimes it would last one day and others it could last a week.
1908359 tn?1321937254 This can be in the form of excessive bleeding or less bleeding. Depo-Provera is a long-acting progestin (hormone) form of birth control and after using depo shots for an year atleast half of the women were not menstruating. The effects of the depo provera may last after several months after the last injection. You need to consult a gynaecologist for the same. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn My doc didn't want me to get pregnant again so she put me on the depo provera shot in August. Around mid september I started to experience severe anxiety and panic attacks. I also had weight loss, loss of appetite, increased heart rate and heart palpitations. I went to the ER and they said that my free T4 (thyroid level) was high. So they said that I probably had hyperthyroidism and that I needed to see my PCP. I then saw my pcp would ran his own labs and said that everything came back normal.
Avatar n tn Well i had been on the depo shot for the 3 monthes and i decided that it wasent right for me because the 1st month went fine but then the 2nd month i was doing more then spotting but less then a period and now this monthe ive had a regular period thats kinda heavy for 2 weeks. I was supposed to of gotten another shot on April 17th.
