446049 tn?1649005835 I believe that's exactly what I said, Mom. But it won't cure psoriasis. It won't cure a dandruff problem. If you can cure something, it's always better than medicating it. But to cure it you do need to know what you're dealing with and whether it has a cure. But yeah, I said it doesn't have too many problems. But it can be very drying as it's very strong, all dandruff shampoos are, and that just makes the problem stick around.
Avatar m tn I am having burning sensation in eye (one eye only) for the past 5 months & it worsens when watching computer/TV particularly in high temperature rooms (due to hot climate) & went to several ophthalmologist for a cure, some told me its due to over secretion of meibomian oil, probably due to dandruff & as a treatment gave topical antibiotic+corticosteroids to apply it on lid margins for 10 days.but the problem is not clearing up.
Avatar m tn My doctor thought it was fungal, so she had me use Nizoral regularly. It kept my dandruff from becoming even worse, and sometimes my dandruff was mild but not gone. Then I recently contracted pneumonia and was given a round of strong antibiotics. My dandruff disappeared on the 7th day of my antibiotic treatment and has not returned for a couple of weeks now. This makes no sense to me, as I know that dandruff is not bacterial in nature. Do you have an explanation for this?
Avatar n tn I have had dandruff since a teenager, used Head and Shoulders type shampoo for decades. I am 60 now and about 5 or so years ago, just gave up. I have lots of red bumps on the back of my head, some around the hairline on front. Some bleeding sometimes. In most cases just an annoyance, not a serious issue. I hurt my back about 3 weeks ago and finally went to the doctor cause it was not getting better, Doctor prescribed a tapering dose of Prednisone (60x4days, 40x3 days, 20x3 days).
2078979 tn?1332206668 Ive and what I thought was dadruff most of my life but I found out that dandruff is actually a scalp condition that is caused by a natural bacteria that grows on ur scalp and u can use oils like tea tree, and eucaliptus to kill it and calm/get rid of dadruff. But u could just have dry scalp which is different. Try drinking more water (even tho we all have to pee more we still need drink lots...
1351676 tn?1301339436 Dandruff is common in cats of many coat colors, but very noticeable in black cats. My now deceased black longhair had dandruff at times, and I treated that with brushing/combing, which he was thrilled with, and a high-quality diet, which he was less thrilled with. A bit of flax oil on his food seemed to help, as did a "pet shampoo spray" I found in a pet store, which moisturized his fur and skin without the hassle of giving him a bath.
436973 tn?1217947089 The past couple of days I've noticed my cat has a lot of dandruff. she has had a little flakiness before, but this is quite a bit. Is this something I should be concerned about?
Avatar m tn Of course, a vet would likely know if they looked at it. But with the dandruff like description and the winter months where heaters run and humidity tends to be lower in the house, it seems as if dry skin is a possibility. You might try a humidifier in the area she spends most her time.
Avatar n tn Hi, The best way to treat dandruff is to use a dandruff shampoo. Look for shampoos with ingredients such as zinc pyrithone, salicyclic acid, coal tar, selenium silfide, or ketoconazole. All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out.
Avatar m tn hello I have a problem I think I might have psoriasis or dermatitis I have this rash on my eye brows and around that areas it is redand sometimes between my nose and sometimes it gets this white flakes I also suffer from dandruff as well any body know a cure or rexactly what is is from what I describe it's embarassing
Avatar f tn s extremely picky and would refuse to eat many other brands such as Iams or Eukenuba, but he loved the Beneful so we stuck with it. But I really wanted to get him eating something healthier, and at his last vet visit about a month and a half ago the vet suggested Natural Balance. We chose the NB grain-free limited ingredient chicken and sweet potato flavor and gradually began mixing it in with the Beneful and phasing the Beneful out until now he's eating just the NB.
Avatar n tn What can I do to get rid of persistent dandruff? Medicated shampoos just make it worse. Also have itchy head sometimes.

Avatar f tn The first doctor prescribed a steroid cream and told me to wash my hair with dandruff shampoo and put a little of the suds in my ears and on my groin. The steroid cream worked for a couple of weeks and then stopped. A few years later a second doctor gave me samples of an anti-fungal cream and told me to use it. That did nothing. So basically I've been itching non-stop and clawing my body up pretty good for 15 years.
Avatar n tn Do you have tips on how to get rid of them? Natural and the cheapest way if possible, coz some of my dandruff sometimes results in minor wound like patches.

Avatar n tn t anything visible except dandruff, so is my hair loss without scalp disease? My father has dandruff too but not hair loss. so, is my hair loss associated with tinea? Once I did take pills suggested by a dermatologist but that did not really help.
Avatar n tn You don't cure blepharitis you control it (like oily skin or dandruff). Use the search, eye topics and archives to read all the posts about how to better control this. Also see an Eye MD ophthalmologist find one at www.aao.
Avatar f tn I will take a look at TGEL. I think I saw it at Target that's near my home. But, I wonder if TGeL will help with psoriasis. My problem is a little worse than an itch. I can't really is a good look at my own scalp, but I'm pretty sure it's psoriasis. Recently, had a flare-up on my neck that was controlled with some ointment from a dermatologist. My scalp seems to have very thin layer of something in patches.
Avatar f tn Thanks to both of you for the great responses! My first fear was fleas, but we've thoroughly checked and it appears to be just a whole lot of dead skin cells/dandruff - he's never outdoors or around other animals, but my thought was he could have picked up fleas at the vet or something. But like I said, I haven't seen him scratch at all in the 2 weeks since this started. Can either of you recommend a good Omega 3 source for him?
Avatar f tn Try not to wash your hair everyday.
