Dandruff in winter only

Common Questions and Answers about Dandruff in winter only

dandruff

Avatar m tn Sometimes, shampooing too often leads to dry skin which will result in flaking. This may happen even more in the winter months because of indoor dry air, depending upon where you live. You could try one of the many dandruff shampoos, but one with a moisturizer may be the best.
Avatar n tn In summer its mostly common that people doesnt have any complains regarding their dandruff but in winter yes cause when it comes about hair they need moisture and in winter we usualy dont wash our hair that often. Solution: Wash them and massage the scalp with olive oil leave it for the night and then wash then next day morning and then if you see any changes after a week .... then thats what it is ....
Avatar m tn I've always had issues with Dry Scalp and Dandruff, particularly during the winter. Over the past couple years, I've also developed some sort of scalp sores that when picked at tend to bleed. They seem to continually come back. I've tried a number of shampoos - Head and Shoulders, Nizoral, Aveda Pureformance, T/Gel, American Crew, etc. with varying results.

Avatar m tn Thanks- I looked online with what you said at the end and saw linseed and flax are synonymous! I also found a site that said flaxseed oil is commonly used in cat food. But they indicate another acid besides that found in flax is necessary for a cat's diet, and that is only found in animal bi-products. They quote an article that says cats need in their diet linoleic and arachidonic acids.
Avatar f tn Then just last summer I started having this pimples like rashes on my triceps and just this winter my dandruff got worst it spread to my nose and to my ears and to my eyebrows. Is this a sign that I have HIV? Help me please. :( Im very worried.
436973 tn?1217947089 t dander, then it could be mites, fleas, sunburn or sensitivity to something new in the house, like new carpet, or new odor eliminating spray. Anything new in the house that you recall? Usually, winter is a season when many places become extremely dry. What are the humidity levels in your place? If your hands feel very dry, then your cat might be experiencing this as well. Check her for parasites, fleas, mites etc. Is she indoors or outdoors?
Avatar n tn my thoughts exactly, Poke. I have a similar problem, more predominant in the winter. I talked with my stylist about it, and she gave me sample bottles of Nioxin. The original ones she gave me didn't do much, but when we switched to the formula for colored hair it worked great. Talk to you salon and see if they have some sample or smaller (hence, cheaper) bottles that you can try. As with all salon products, you're going to spend a little more, but hey...if it helps...it helps.

Avatar m tn Hello, First of all atopic dermatitis should be ruled out in your daughter’s case. Regarding dandruff, you should use shampoos with ketoconazole after getting them prescribed from her pediatrician. Sometimes an allergy to dairy products, nuts and chocolates may cause dandruff, in which case you should avoid them for about eight weeks to be able to access its effect.
Avatar n tn About a month ago, I left some red spots on his back near the waist, which were resected. Also in the arms, which are dry and virtually disappeared. Others are still in the outskirts of the axillae and nipples, still red and sometimes I get itchy. They are more scaly and red when I shower with hot water. As I said before, these spots are red, sometimes cause itching, are scaly and look like "wrinkled".
Avatar f tn I've always dealt with dandruff in the winter, but I can't tell if the little white things in my hair are flakes or nits. I did the lice treatment, but nothing showed up when my hair was combed out. I have painful slightly itchy bumps and pimples on my scalp. I'm not insanely itchy, but I know you don't have to be super itchy to have lice. I don't know what else it would be if it's not lice, maybe the treatment didn't work. If it's not lice what is it?

Avatar f tn Hi, wondering if anyone has an answer for me. I used to get dandruff on and off and I used head & shoulders or others like it and it worked fine. This winter, however, my scalp has gotten extremly dry and itchy and flaky, and sore from all the scratching. I tried a bunch of more heavy duty OTC shampoos for dandruff, but none worked. I used an essential oils scalp massage and that worked for a bit. Now it is out of control and driving me crazy.
209987 tn?1451935465 I don't get dandruff....or at least on my scalp...I seem to only get it on my forehead and eyebrows. This morning it was so bad that it looked like I had been peeling after a bad sunburn. The flakes of skin were dropping off in huge pieces. I've been told to use moisturizers...which do nothing but cause a rash. Aloe-Vera burns my skin. Allergic to something in Noxzema...causes me to stop breathing. I have very sensitive skin as you can see.
Avatar f tn When I was in 4th grade I started noticing dandruff in my bangs. I could see the dry skin there and growing up it was only in my bangs but over the years I noticed it going more over the top of my scalp. Sometimes it'd be worse and my hair would itch bad and I'd have dandruff and I thought it was maybe just in winter when it's more dry but about 2years ago when I was living in MS on the gulf (not dry area at all) it was horrible (winter and summer)!
675347 tn?1365460645 ie, her usual happy self. But every year, twice a year, in the summer, and in the winter, she sheds. This is just what she does, I have never considered this to be indicative of any allergy or ill-health, as she (generally) is fit and well. The shedding-thing ALWAYS happens right before she comes into season. Once the shedding stops, her season starts. Every year the same.
Avatar m tn Some white dandruff on my scalp, and now it starts spreading in my ears. During winter it increases at very fast speed. I consulted 4-5 dermatologists and I also consulted many ayurvedic treatments, but still not working I don't know what to do if anyone can help.
Avatar f tn I experience a lot of itching in them. I oil my scalp regularly and use an anti dandruff shampoo but so far no improvement. I have 4-5 such patches on my scalp and every time i brush my hair, a lot of dandruff comes out. Someone please advise!
Avatar n tn i dont know if its dandruff or wat, but it doesnt come in flakey form. it comes in tiny hair forms. they are white dust like particles which are in my hair and they never run out. what may the cause be and what should i do to stop it? i used to wash my hair every day/twice a day if i play ball. for the last 3 days ive tried shampooing every other day, but i do still wash my hair with water. but no good, there are still a massive amount of dust in my hair. What sort of illness is this?
Avatar n tn I have had a small bump on my chest now for around 3 weeks. I would say that in terms of size it is around the size of the ball in a ball point pen. It is not swollen, though some days it has a little bit of redness which is typically on days that it has been a little bit itchy, likely with the redness resulting from my scratching it (I try not to, but it happens). The bump is not painful, and causes me no problems, except for the occasional itching.
Avatar f tn I'm having some very bad dandruff since i got pregnant. nothing helps. I've tried t-gel and head and shoulders. Any other suggestions?
Avatar m tn Hello. I don't know what type of allergy your little Meeka might have if any. I've been studying and it seems the most common allergies are pollen and food allergies but could be something else that's environmental. Being that there's dandruff on her and Basil it could also be some type of dermatitis or hormonal. I can't find information on Acidurin tablets such as efficacy, dosage, side effects or long term effects.
Avatar n tn t seem to have made much of a dent in the dandruff. Like I said, the dandruff is minimal on some days and heavier on other days with seemingly no rhyme or reason. I've tried adding some olive oil to his food, and even rubbing some on him because I read it might help, but really when I massaged some olive oil into his skin it almost seemed to make the dandruff worse. What do you all think? I have read they sell dog balm and dog moisturizers, which I'd never even heard of before.
Avatar n tn It felt like someone is pouring acid on it. It even felt painful to move my hair in any direction. It was so excruciating I ended up in the urgent care twice. They ran a bunch of thyroid and hormonal tests which came back fine.
Avatar f tn anyone else have dandruff & greasy hair constantly since getting pregnant?
