My doctor thought it was fungal, so she had me use Nizoral regularly. It kept my dandruff from becoming even worse, and sometimes my dandruff was mild but not gone. Then I recently contracted pneumonia and was given a round of strong antibiotics. My dandruff disappeared on the 7th day of my antibiotic treatment and has not returned for a couple of weeks now. This makes no sense to me, as I know that dandruff is not bacterial in nature. Do you have an explanation for this?

I am having burning sensation in eye (one eye only) for the past 5 months & it worsens when watching computer/TV particularly in high temperature rooms (due to hot climate) & went to several ophthalmologist for a cure,some told me its due to over secretion of meibomian oil,probably due to dandruff & as a treatment gave topical antibiotic+corticosteroids to apply it on lid margins for 10 days.but the problem is not clearing up.

You might have seborrheic dermatitis on your scalp. I have it and if i don't shampoo my hair daily my head itches and gets alot of flakes. My derm suggested that I buy a shampoo containing ketoconazole. I use Nizoral, It doesn't clean very well but seems to deal with the flaking fairly well.

ve just found this forum and I'm delighted! I have to wash my hair EVERY day and by lunchtime it smells bad, more so on my scalp but my hair too! I've tried T-Gel, Nizorel, Vosene, Sulphur shampoo, anti dandruff stuff prescribed by the doctor (who actually didn't believe me, she clearly didn't get close enough!) and I'm starting to get paranoid, not to mention worried about the condition of my hair due to constant washing, drying straightening.

Well, I have done everything that he has advised and I'm still no better off for any of it.

i try to hide it with lotion and stuff but its not removing it.. its getting worst and worst..

t know how i manage to catch it,it itches,i went and get meds ,i was given advantan cream and exoderil cream,it goes away but comes back again,do you think i am spreading it with my finges when i apply the cream?when will this thing go away?

I am not taking any pills right now and not taking any treatment except for shampooing my hair with herbal essence every day. I took the pills few years back; took a lot of them, which did not help so I gave up. I am trying out myself here on internet to understand the cause. what type of baldness does mine come under?

welcome to hell. theres no cure and little relief. I dont have the raised bumps like yours but mine is red , yellow, flaky and a different skin texture than the surrounding areas. best I have found is washing with ZNP bar every day or two and using prescription elidel cream.

It sounds like you have dandruff- which the selsun blue shampoo should help, but sometimes it can be resistant to anti-dandruff shampoos for various reasons. You could try some other brands (such as head and shoulders) or you could try some home remedies- lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. If that doesn't work, you may want to head back to your doctor to see if the flakes are indications of another medical condition- it could be something like eczema.

Selaun blue is AWESOME there's also this stuff and I can never remember what its called but its tar something or the other and obviously its brown. I find mine at Walmart and they have an equate brand. It is also amazing. I personally like the way it smells (I'm weird I also like the way laquer thinner smells) anyway it smells like tar but girl.it is awesome too! I don't have dandruff but I have always had a sensitive scalp and too many scents in a shampoo male my scalp break.

Ive always suffered from dandruff and so i used T-gel and capisal anti-dandfuff shampoos, but when i got pregnant my doc told me not to use them because of coal tar and so i stopped, it also says on the back of the bottle not reccomended during pregnancy, its been 9 weeks and my head is soo itchy its driving me mad :( .. No matter what i do, for the past 9 years i have had what i thought was severe dandruff. however, i have tried every single anti-dandruff solution they sell and most just make my head more itchy. its weird cuz my scalp comes off in larger chunks than i thought dandruff was. it is also slightly yellower. it is constant, i never have a break from it. its super embarassing too, because i cannot resist to itch it and once i start to scratch i can't stop for like 2 or 3 minutes.

Hi, wondering if anyone has an answer for me. I used to get dandruff on and off and I used head & shoulders or others like it and it worked fine. This winter, however, my scalp has gotten extremly dry and itchy and flaky, and sore from all the scratching. I tried a bunch of more heavy duty OTC shampoos for dandruff, but none worked. I used an essential oils scalp massage and that worked for a bit. Now it is out of control and driving me crazy.
