Cymbalta with paxil

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta with paxil

cymbalta

Avatar f tn SHe told me to keep taking Paxil for just a week which she perscribed me cymbalta for 30 mg for a week with the paxil then she has me on 60 mg of Cymbalta and she told me to stop taking Paxil when i start taking 60mg. So is she weaning me off the Paxil along with the Cymbalta? And is this safe for a week of taking cymbalta 30mg and Paxil 20mg for a week?
Avatar f tn After seeing my doctor lately, she has decided to take me off my Cymbalta. I've been on it for 3 years with no change in my depression. What I'm wondering about are the withdrawals that I think I've been experiencing. The doctor also has put me on Paxil while weaning me off the Cymbalta. The symptoms I've had are mostly being very shaky; so much so that it's hard to hold a spoon because I'm shaking that badly. Is this normal and will it go away?
Avatar n tn He had been taking valium for quite awhile with paxil. He stopped the paxil the day he started cymbalta. I am very concerned because he doesn't appear to be behaving in a normal way in spite of the meds. Since he was already used to taking the valum, I am concerned that the combo with cymbalta is the problem. Perhaps the dosage is too high? What should we do until we can get to the MD?
Avatar m tn s anxiety, Paxil withdrawal, side effects from Cymbalta, or there is something wrong with my heart. Has anyone switched from Paxil to Cymbalta (weaning off/increasing at same time.) If so, did you have any issues? Thank you so much!
400867 tn?1371753094 So I took my first Cymbalta today. Other than Paxil, nothing else has worked for me (Lexapro and Effexor). Anyone have any good experiences with Cymbalta? Just wondering what I'm in for this time... Thanks!!
Avatar m tn It worked for pain but not anxiety. Switched back to paxil and all the pain came back. Now I wonder if I can take cymbalta and paxil but have not asked dr. yet. Does anyone know?

Avatar f tn Everything I have read says this does not treat anxiety. I just started taking Zoloft because it does...so does Paxil, Lexapro and such. Maybe it will work..dunno?
18283265 tn?1463778032 It has also been suggested to me to switch from paxil to cymbalta, as cymbalta will help with all the aches and pains more than the paxil. But I am literally TERRIFIED to change meds as I have had such difficult experiences in the past. I do have klonopin that I can take as needed, but I'm so afraid of addiction to another med that I have taken like one in the past two years. I practice lots of meditation, yoga, and other therapeutic practices.
Avatar n tn I also, recently, have been experiencing the sweating of the face, head and neck. I take Paxil (40mg) once a day and at bed time along with a water pill, Hydrochlorothiazide (25mg). During the day if I exert myself, even the smallest amount, I'm wringing wet. Its disgusting! Unfortunately, it IS a side effect of the Paxil. I was on Effexor from 1987-2001.
1100999 tn?1257701380 Studies are showing an excellent sucess rate with both Lexapro and Cymbalta and this is why they are on top of my list too and i have success right now with Cymbalta. The only side effect i had was nausea and it went away. I don't feel like a ''zombie''.
Avatar m tn I told him Im still very depressed/anxious something Ive suffered with for the past 16 years. I was on Paxil a long time ago and it did nothing for me. From what he said, this is nothing like Paxil but more like Effexor. Also said it might help with the lack of energy. So my question to everyone is...has anyone taken it. Successsfull? Hope every one is well.
Avatar f tn Paxil and Effexor are the worst meds to be on. If you survived stopping Paxil, you can survive Cymbalta. But keep in mind that it can be stimulating and so can exacerbate anxiety unless you're real problem, and this is more often the case than most realize, is depression. Think it out, but don't be scared about it, just be educated about it. Are you working on non-medication help as well, such as therapy?
Avatar n tn I am 38 years old and 5weeks prego with #3. I have been taking 30mg of cymbalta for the past two years. I don't see the doctor until January 14. Has anyone taken cymbalta while prego and is it safe???
Avatar m tn Hey guys, I plan to start Cymbalta (30mgs) tomorrow morning per my pdoc. I have had some very bad experiences with some of the other SSRI's (Zoloft, paxil, celexa, lexapro) as far as sleep/sexual/cognitive disturbances but I feel like some prescription help may (still) be warranted. I just wanted to see what anyone had to say regarding their experiences with this drug. Thanks!
409410 tn?1251072712 Hi. I have hand tremors too. I don't remember when they started, but I think they got worse with paxil. I'm off the paxil now and coming off trazadone and still have the tremors. I really think they are related to meds, and I'm not sure if it will even go away when I'm off of all meds (IF I can ever be off of all meds). Good luck.
Avatar m tn You would need to consider a different medication. I have personally experienced panic attacks with Effexor. I too take Cymbalta 30mg. As a nurse, I can tell you many antidepressants are trial and error. Some work better than others. I personally have tried all the SSRI and wound up with SSNRI to combat my panic attacks and major depression. I sure hope this helps and you feel better soon. Take one day at a time.
Avatar f tn You know best, but CBT therapy will directly try to help you with those symptoms with relaxation techniques such as progressive muscle relaxation, meditation, exercise, affirmations, and such. The mental part is harder to deal with than the physical part, actually, though neither is easy or guaranteed. But whatever you choose, I hope it helps.

Avatar n tn I was on paxil for almost 20 years for depression and panic. MD switched me to Cymbalta. He said it is possible for you to get used to meds after being on them long term. Is that true, cannot find much info. on that. The problem is the Cymbalta was better with my depression but seems to increase my anxiety and cause me excessive sweating, esp in social situations. Does the sweating sound like a common side effect for SNRI?
Avatar n tn Then was diagnosed with fibromyalgia so Dr. put me on Cymbalta. It worked very well. After 2 years though it just stopped; we kept going up in dose to see if it would work but did not. So spent 6 months last year coming off Cymbalta (VERY difficult) So then the psychiatrist begins again this winter with me. Prozac (made me mean after 4 hours of taking and extremely panicky, stayed on for a week to be sure, husband said to come off!
Avatar m tn says it is more effective in treating pain with depression/anxiety than cymbalta but I cannot take it because it makes me throw up (it is similiar to Effexor and i throw up with Effexor too...despite being on it for months trying to "get used to it"). Good luck!!!
Avatar f tn I didnt take the Prozac today (Sat) and I am told to start the Cymbalta this Monday ( in 2 days) I have had withdrawal problems b4 with quick weaning off of Paxil and dont want to experience Seratonin syndrome ,end up in the ER ect.. I am also on ritalin,Lamicital,Abilify,attenalol.... Should I do this quick transition to cymbalta? My Dr said we dont have time to do it slow.. I feel he is having me do something Reckless.
Avatar f tn I have tried Paxil, Prozac and Cymbalta. Paxil stopped working. Prozac made me angry. Cymbalta really helped but made my eyes dilate. Zoloft has always helped me in the past so I continue to stay on it. I have been having vision problems but so far they can't find anything wrong with me. That is what is giving me the intense anxiety.
Avatar n tn This is typical -- psychiatrists in general, and I've seen a lot over many years of this crap, are pretty lazy. I learned about it because the manufacturer of Cymbalta is seeking FDA approval for using the med for pain and the liver deaths have come out. This isn't unheard of -- tricyclics have for years been difficult for some and you have to get your liver tested regularly when you're on them, but they don't for Cymbalta.
