Cymbalta and paxil

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta and paxil

cymbalta

Avatar f tn my daughter is very anxious so the dr put her on both the cymbalta 30 mg with the paxil of 20 for one week and then 15 paxel for another week and then 10 paxil and increase to 60 cymbalta. she had a brain trauma in a car accident and has to deal with alot so is this too much. she had a seizure on the ultram but she took too many at one time for a headache..
Avatar n tn And Paxil gives more people a rough time upon stopping than any other antidepressant other than Effexor (and, ahem, Cymbalta). Your friend should have been tapered off the Paxil, and maybe was, but if not, and even if your friend was, there's a lot going on now possibly, too much for us to say which is which.
Avatar f tn After seeing my doctor lately, she has decided to take me off my Cymbalta. I've been on it for 3 years with no change in my depression. What I'm wondering about are the withdrawals that I think I've been experiencing. The doctor also has put me on Paxil while weaning me off the Cymbalta. The symptoms I've had are mostly being very shaky; so much so that it's hard to hold a spoon because I'm shaking that badly. Is this normal and will it go away?
Avatar m tn I have recently been struggling w/ more intense anxiety and depression and irritability. I am switching from Paxil to Cymbalta, and am down from 30 mg of Paxil to 5 mg, and then up to 60 mg of Cymbalta. I feel like I am having a racing heart/palpitations. I am not sure if it's anxiety, Paxil withdrawal, side effects from Cymbalta, or there is something wrong with my heart. Has anyone switched from Paxil to Cymbalta (weaning off/increasing at same time.) If so, did you have any issues?
400867 tn?1371753094 So I took my first Cymbalta today. Other than Paxil, nothing else has worked for me (Lexapro and Effexor). Anyone have any good experiences with Cymbalta? Just wondering what I'm in for this time... Thanks!!
Avatar m tn Go see a different psychiatrist. If what you say is true, the one you have needs to have his license revoked. If all these drugs were the same they all wouldn't have been able to get a patent and FDA approval -- you can only do that by proving it's different than what's already on the market.
Avatar n tn I was on paxil for almost 20 years for depression and panic. MD switched me to Cymbalta. He said it is possible for you to get used to meds after being on them long term. Is that true, cannot find much info. on that. The problem is the Cymbalta was better with my depression but seems to increase my anxiety and cause me excessive sweating, esp in social situations. Does the sweating sound like a common side effect for SNRI?
Avatar m tn I was on and off Paxil for several years. After about 6 years it quit working. This can happen with these meds. In my opinion, I would give it a little more time. If you don't feel better in the next few weeks it may be time to think about another med. You did'nt do well on Lexapro?

Avatar f tn Everything I have read says this does not treat anxiety. I just started taking Zoloft because it does...so does Paxil, Lexapro and such. Maybe it will work..dunno?
Avatar n tn All ssris and snris have as a common side effect increased bleeding and bruising. It's why they warn against using NSAIDS when you're on them except under a doctor's care. But I would be concerned if it's happening this soon after starting, and I'd also look into the recent concern over liver problems and Cymbalta. I'd talk to my psychiatrist and do some homework to see if this is the best med for you.
Avatar f tn I have been taking a combination of Wellbutrin XR and Paxil CR for several years now. I do very well on this combination of medications. I asked my doctor recently about about trying Cymbalta because I have recentently learned I have arthritis in my low back and both hips. I would have to titrate off of my current meds first. His main remark was that if I am doing well on my current meds he didn't recommend the change.
18283265 tn?1463778032 It has also been suggested to me to switch from paxil to cymbalta, as cymbalta will help with all the aches and pains more than the paxil. But I am literally TERRIFIED to change meds as I have had such difficult experiences in the past. I do have klonopin that I can take as needed, but I'm so afraid of addiction to another med that I have taken like one in the past two years. I practice lots of meditation, yoga, and other therapeutic practices.
Avatar n tn I also, recently, have been experiencing the sweating of the face, head and neck. I take Paxil (40mg) once a day and at bed time along with a water pill, Hydrochlorothiazide (25mg). During the day if I exert myself, even the smallest amount, I'm wringing wet. Its disgusting! Unfortunately, it IS a side effect of the Paxil. I was on Effexor from 1987-2001.
1258539 tn?1293840202 Overall I think Cymbalta is one of the best medication out there but this have a cost. Cymbalta cost is outrageous and Cymbalta is very hard to stop. I stopped cold-turkey after using it for only 5 months and I had brain zaps for a little more than a month. The withdrawal was quite severe but it is expected with all potent powerful antidepressant.
Avatar f tn Paxil and Effexor are the worst meds to be on. If you survived stopping Paxil, you can survive Cymbalta. But keep in mind that it can be stimulating and so can exacerbate anxiety unless you're real problem, and this is more often the case than most realize, is depression. Think it out, but don't be scared about it, just be educated about it. Are you working on non-medication help as well, such as therapy?
Avatar f tn ve know people on Cymbalta and for some it works really well and others no. A lot of the problems come when people get off drugs too fast. I don't know why docs are not really schooled in the detox part of drug taking. Hugs, Charley.
Avatar m tn I was on Paxil a long time ago and it did nothing for me. From what he said, this is nothing like Paxil but more like Effexor. Also said it might help with the lack of energy. So my question to everyone is...has anyone taken it. Successsfull? Hope every one is well.
Avatar n tn The big one that I was told they worry about is Paxil as it is known to cause birth defects. Cymbalta is a pregnancy category C which means that although there have been no proven risks, they can't be ruled out completely. Depression or anxiety definitely still need to be treated thigh. I take a pregnancy category c mood stabilizer and have had no issues and the baby is healthy and strong (39 + 3 weeks). I would recommend not taking yourself off them until you meet with your doc.
Avatar f tn Everybody's been sued already, and the cases have been won. You're very late to the game on the legal stuff. It started with Paxil a long long time ago and it's still on the market, so you're not going to get anywhere suing. By now, everyone is probably considered to be fairly warned that these drugs are very very very hard to stop taking.
Avatar m tn I have been having anxiety problems for a few months now. I was prescribed paxil and ativan originally. I tried the paxil for one day and did not like the side effects it was giving me. So I went to counseling to try and get over this without taking medications. Well a couple of weekends ago I had a really bad weekend. I went to my doctor because I was having abdominal pains and was thinking it was something serious (which is what my anxiety problem is: health concerns).
Avatar m tn and then 12mg every 2nd day and then 7.5mg . paxil CR just comes in 25,12.5 and 7.5 mg. please advise if this is the right way and how to overcome side effects and what other medication need to take. how long these withdrawl side effects persist?
Avatar f tn s easy for one is hard for another. But again, these two are difficult meds, and Cymbalta is more for depression than anxiety, but you do have both. You can do a lot of research on your own if you choose to by just googling them, but that still won't tell you what your experience will be. By reputation, the easiest to tolerate are Prozac and Lexapro. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I had insomnia and fibromyalgia. My doctor put me on Cymbalta. He said it would help me with sleep and pain. It was 2 weeks of hell, no sleep and constant pain and I wanted to kill myself!!! I was not depressed and have no history of depression. my doctor switched me to amitriptyline. It helps with sleep but not pain, I would never recommend Cymbalta to anyone !
