cymbalta

1423878 tn?1282883632 Cymbalta can be quite stimulating for someone with GAD but yeah it can work well. Lexapro is indeed a good choice due to it's long half-life.
535882 tn?1396576685 is lexapro a good drug. or would a cymbalta be better. for the nerve problems plus anxiety.or is the lexapro. have the ingrediatnts that i need. on lexapro now 11 days ..
1255936 tn?1296623461 What is the dose for treatment of such disorders and not just a low dose for sleeping? I hear 25mg is really not high enough to be effective for GAD or anything else other than a sleeping aid (why anyone would take a anti-psych for a sleep aid is beyond me). I hear that 200-300 mg is the dose for treating GAD, BP, and depression. I will be seeing my doc tomorrow to discuss increasing the dosage. Any input from anyone on the "front lines" would be awesome! Cheers!
Avatar m tn I suffer from depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), with anxiety and panic attacks for two years. I suppose depression arised from the fact that both my daughters were forced to immigrate because of the economic crisis of my homeland. Anyway, i tried Cipralex, Cymbalta, Seroxat, Effexor even and the combo Effexor with Remeron (California rocket fuel) but without great results. In fact, some of these meds, made me worse. Only Xanax relieves me.
Avatar f tn I started Cymbalta 8 to 8 days ago for MDD and Gad with obsessive thoughts. And now tapering Effexor gradually. I didn't see improvement till now and feel very depressed and feel like my head is going to explode cz of the thoughts and the continuously feeling down with no interest or motivation to do anything in life. Do I need to wait for Cymbalta more or shall I consult my doctor to change it? And is it effective with treatment resistant cases as iam a treatment resistant case?
Avatar f tn For anyone that Cymbalta has worked well for... what dosage worked for you? Dr. wants daughter to start with 30 and go to 60 after 4 days but my thinking is to see if 30 will work and give it a few weeks... why go to 60 if not necessary.
268911 tn?1213744781 I am staring at a bottle of Cymbalta and Zoloft and wondering which one to take. I have GAD and early last year I was taking Cymbalta but remember some pretty bad side effects like dizzyness, confusion and restlessness. Anyone have any suggestions?
407790 tn?1397761026 Thanks so much for the additional info! You're right, that's QUITE the cocktail of meds! How long have you been on that specific regimen? You're new to the Cymbalta (from the Pristiq) for about a month, correct? I personally think that adding the Abilify is a bit premature. You never know, you may see some significant improvements with the Cymbalta, but it's still kind of early to fairly assess your progress with it.
Avatar f tn If you have GAD, it IS not a good idea to go onto Cymbalta, it may trigger even worse anxiety. There are alot of other drugs with minimal side effects. Lamactil being one(it's actually an anti seizure med) , it's an atypical mood stabilizer which has also helped some like myself with anixety at higher doses. Don't be freaked out my the scary side effect of the rash, it only happens 8/100 000, as well if you slowly increase the dose, that pretty much elimenates that chances.
Avatar m tn Hi - I have been on cymbalta for about 6 weeks now after about 3 years of being depressed . I am 50 years old and the medication seems to be working sometimes. I have a good day and then the next day I feel depressed and don't want to get out of bed - like I was before cymbalta. Is this normal, have I bben on the medication long enough for it to hellp..
Avatar f tn He met with me and was pretty thorough and reduced my medications from 150 of Levothyoxine to 25 mg. He also suggested I increaes my Cymbalta. I called my doctor today and the nurse told me the reason for the 150 mg was that my family doctor wanted to help me with extra weight loss and thought this might do the trick. I asked about Cymbalta as I am taking 60 mg and he increased it to 120 mg, sort of nervous about this as it is designed at high doses for people with pain. That isn't me.
190673 tn?1259203266 Currently I take 150 mg of effexor for GAD. It helps but not enough. My Q is, can lower doze (in some cases) work better than a higher dose?
1460652 tn?1340248730 ve been feeling, your doctor will know what to do. Exercise is great for anxiety, keep yourself as busy as you can until Tuesday. I know it's tough, but just keep yourself very busy so Tuesday gets here quickly. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn I would personally urge caution. Do your homework. Cymbalta, as with all snris, isn't usually used if anxiety is the main problem, as it's a stimulating anti-depressant. It also is associated with liver problems, which came out when it recently applied for approval for chronic pain, which it is not currently approved for. It might just be the thing for you, but make sure whoever's prescribing it knows what he or she is doing.
Avatar f tn I have been on paxil for about 16 years at a low dose (10 mg) but i ahve been as high as 40 mg. It worked very well for years so I began to drop back on the dosage. Occassionally, during stressfull periods, I get anxiety real bad. When that happens, I increase my dosage. Like you, I worry about everything imaginable. I have even worried about my wife like you do your boyfriend. That too is rediculous. However, anxiety is a very tricky customer. You actually believe what you think.
5342561 tn?1366664882 It worked very well for my gad/panic. I was on it for 10 years until it pooped out this past winter. If I were you, I would call the doc and ask to back down the dose. Have you taken the Xanax by the way? Used sparingly, it might be helpful.
Avatar n tn I am so glad something like this exists because I can feel so very alone at times. I was diagnosed with GAD probably about 3 years ago but know that it was manifesting before having a major panic attack. I am on Cymbalta after trying Lexapro. I have been doing really well until two days ago. Yesterday I was feeling an attack coming on and getting completely sweaty. I sent out the invitaions yesterday so that could have prompted it or just how it is getting so close.
Avatar f tn Thank you! I've been taking Cymbalta in the monring for 2 days now. So far, so good. Take Care!
Avatar n tn So I slowly weaned off the lexapro and switched to cymbalta. For a week i took 5 mg of lexapro and a 30mg cymbalta. Now I am at a therapeutic dosage of 60mg cymbalta. And I also take clonozapem up to 3 times a day if I have panic attacks. Lexapro gave me gastroinstestinal side effects. While as Cymbalta now seems to give me sleep troubles/insomnia. However, sometimes the medication outweighs the side effects.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking 60 mg of Cymbalta. Not really for depression, but for stress and sensory issues. It totally has helped me handle stress in a normal way. I also haven't had any panic attacks since being on it. Another reason I like Cymbalta. i have not had any weight gain. Some meds can make you gain weight. Though I think meds act differently on different people. So probably the only way to figure out if it will work for you is to try it out for 6 weeks.
1237495 tn?1268837283 After weening myself off of Cymbalta (I had been on it for 4 years without ANY anxiety or depression no matter the situation) I fell apart and now am on 300mg of Luvox and .5mg Xanax when necessary. I can't really even exercise anymore due to the fear of suffocating... which started in October.
Avatar f tn I have been on Cymbalta at 90/day for about 6 months and started it about 9 months ago. Initial doses of 30mg made me sicker than a dog and dizzy as all get out. We halfed the dose and gave it a few weeks at a time...up to 30, then 60, then 90 before I started seeing better results. Unfortunately, I'm still dizzy for a bit each day, have wicked/truly blinding migraines at least once a day, nauscious now and then, memory loss at times, etc.
525545 tn?1293181194 I wanted to know if anyone has been taking effexor for nearly a year my dosage is 150mg twice a day. Now my psychiatrist wants to put me on Cymbalta. He told me that it takes time for my body to accept the change and for a couple of weeks I won't have much of either in my system. I don't know what dosage is yet. I am wondering if I am doing the right thing. I have been battling severe depression and chronic pain for years. If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it.
Avatar f tn I had no life altering symptoms for years on Cymbalta- it was a miracle for me in 2008 that helped me get out of a major funk. Now I'm regretting changing meds :( I'm wondering now if I need a similar class of meds that Cymbalta is in that not only is SSRI but also works on norepinephrine. I've also had intermittent shortness of breath the past 3-4 weeks. Lungs clear, pulmonary function test normal.
