Cymbalta and Lexapro are both good and are newer GAD meds. Your doctor might also prescribe another fast acting anti-anxiety med until the main med will kick in. Usually about two weeks. Good luck!

I have taken Cymbalta and it helped me, but I could not tolerate the side effects. Yesterday my PMP gave me an Rx for Lexapro. I took Lexapro a couple of years ago and it also helped me, but again I quit taking it because of side effects. I think both meds are good meds and can help you, but as sandee1818 said - everyone reacts differently to different meds and it does take a while for it to build up in your system so you begin to get the effects. I suffer from depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), with anxiety and panic attacks for two years. I suppose depression arised from the fact that both my daughters were forced to immigrate because of the economic crisis of my homeland. Anyway, i tried Cipralex, Cymbalta, Seroxat, Effexor even and the combo Effexor with Remeron (California rocket fuel) but without great results. In fact, some of these meds, made me worse. Only Xanax relieves me.

I am staring at a bottle of Cymbalta and Zoloft and wondering which one to take. I have GAD and early last year I was taking Cymbalta but remember some pretty bad side effects like dizzyness, confusion and restlessness. Anyone have any suggestions?

If you have GAD, it IS not a good idea to go onto Cymbalta, it may trigger even worse anxiety. There are alot of other drugs with minimal side effects. Lamactil being one(it's actually an anti seizure med) , it's an atypical mood stabilizer which has also helped some like myself with anixety at higher doses. Don't be freaked out my the scary side effect of the rash, it only happens 8/100 000, as well if you slowly increase the dose, that pretty much elimenates that chances.

Studies are showing an excellent sucess rate with both Lexapro and Cymbalta and this is why they are on top of my list too and i have success right now with Cymbalta. The only side effect i had was nausea and it went away. I don't feel like a ''zombie''.

I am so glad something like this exists because I can feel so very alone at times. Hi. I have GAD, as it is caused. It has flaired up bad over the last 6 months due, I think, to surgery I had. I am on Klonopin 1.5 mg per day and 200mg Zoloft, as I am also a clinical depressive. I got off of the cymbalta because I dumbly told myself I was fine and no longer needed it. Then boom... everything and more came and hit me like a train. After reading that, I definitely have symptoms of agoraphobia. Not good.

I started Cymbalta 8 to 8 days ago for MDD and Gad with obsessive thoughts. And now tapering Effexor gradually. I didn't see improvement till now and feel very depressed and feel like my head is going to explode cz of the thoughts and the continuously feeling down with no interest or motivation to do anything in life. Tuesday my psychiatrist stopped my Zoloft and started me on Fluvox (I have GAD, OCD, and mild/moderate depression). Well I've had some side effects that I can live with, but the past 24 hours I've been getting much angrier than usual. Like when my husband and I bicker a little, I get mad instead of a little annoyed. This happened once before when my former psychiatrist tried swithching me from zoloft to cymbalta, and I switched back after 4 days because of it.

Feeling pretty down does anyone have anything good to say about cymbalta.? I have high anxiety as well as lupus and a hep c treatment on the horizon. I know they will give me an anti depressant and I was hoping for some input. Most others make me feel bad.

I'm wondering if anybody has had experience in taking Cymbalta for anxiety and depression. I took Lexapro for several years and it stopped working, so I tried Zoloft this summer, which didn't help my anxiety at all, so now I'm back on the Lexapro and Buspar. I feel better than I did a few months ago in terms of anxiety, but nowhere near as well as I did in the past, and now my depression is horrible.

I want to try another med for my GAD. I'm currently taking mirtazapine (22.5 mg) and celexa (20 mg). The celexa never worked so he added the mirt. then had to reduce it due to mouth sores and my WB count being too low (rare side effect) Now I would like to drop them both and try something else. I just want to take one pill and get stable for a yeart or two and maybe get off of them. How about Effexor? Zoloft?

Has anyone else experienced this type of burning? If so, have you found anything that helps? I have been on Cymbalta, morphine cr 30 mg, percocet for break through pain, valium for panic attacks and GAD. I would also love to try to get off all meds and start from scratch to see if anything changes. Any suggestions? Feel like crap and am afraid to have the shoulder surgery with all of this going on.

I have been dx with (gad) generalized anxiety disorder a few month back. 3 close family members have passed away during these last 3 months. I know I have had a issue with death since I lost my Mother at 16 due to cervical cancer. I am a 35 yr old male. I have never been seriously sick up till now. I have been on Cymbalta for over a year by a world renowned Psychiatrist after being on a worthless drug called Imipramine. I have totally seen a change in myself and the side effects have been minimal. If weren't for the cost especially after losing insurance I still love it!! I pay 140.00 per month so make sure you shop around if your insurance doesn't help. It is a fairly need drug but specifically for GAD sufferers. Good luck to you!

I would like to get off suboxone sometime this year. could i take something like cymbalta and just quit the suboxone - basicly having the anti depressant take it's place in some way? are there any combinations that work with suboxone? I am seeing my phsciatrist tomarrow and would like to have some ideas as far as my medications. this is so confusing, yet liberating that soon i will be functional for the first time in my life. Hi all I take cymbalta 60mg and lorazapam 1mg 2X a day. Alot of days I just have these TERRIBLE CRAVINGS. I thought it was sugar, didn't help. Then I thought maybe it was alchohol (I havn't drank in 2 years), but I was willing to give it a shot. No luck. I then tried water, well that didn't work either. Is this a common symptom of depression?

obviously its not for me... I'm not high strung naturally though, I really don't feel good when things make me tired..and then I can't even go to sleep? not helpful to me at all! I think I did ok on lexapro..worked better for my GAD...maybe I'll go back on see my GP after a few weeks..need to see how I'm feeling first. were you on any ad's after detox? thanks for commenting and ttys!
