cymbalta

Avatar f tn Has anyone tried or currently use Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia. My primary care Dr. wants me to try it for my pain. I have glaucoma, it's under controlled but im still afraid to take it because of the side affects. Im in so much pain most of the time. I also have non hodgkns lymphoma and sarcoidosis and both are in remission , and I pray I can get some kind of relief. I really would like to hear some input on this.
Avatar f tn I was on Cymbalta for fibromyalgia for 12 years. It didnt have much effect on the fibro but REALLY helped my ongoing anxiety and depression, which I understand are some of the many symptoms of fibromyalgia.... For the past 10 years I had been dealing with terrible acid reflux, nausea, headaches, lower back pain and sleeplesness. I suspicioned the Cymbalta....
Avatar n tn I use Cymbalta for abdomen, neck and hand pain and Fibromyalgia. It does a good job for me. There are some unpleasant side effects such as nausea and being light headed upon standing being the worst for me. I tried Neurontin and Lyrica. I couldn't take the side effects from either of those two. I've experienced life without Cymbalta. Without it my pains levels are considerably higher. My mood is much better on it. All in all, it's well worth the unpleasant side effects for me.
1535467 tn?1342235270 I started on 60mg of Cymbalta for my depression and Fibromyalgia. I just came off of Zoloft at the time because it just stopped working. I felt okay and even better then came the abnormal bizarre dreams. I would feel like I dreamt one dream all night and it would be like a cross between Stephen King movies and Tim Burton movies. I felt so dragged out. My doctor dropped me down to 30mg and I had never gotten that feeling again.
Avatar n tn to make a long story short, she upped my dosage to 40mgs of OxyContin three times daily and 30mgs of Oxycodone for breakthrough pain. Since she never seemed to follow up on anything, I just swithched Doctor's and my new Doctor seems to know what he is talking about. The new Doc. drew blood and did some other tests. The blood work came back fine, so he too believes that I probably have Fibromyalgia, but he is sending me to a Rheumatoligist too.
Avatar n tn I took the low dose of Cymbalta for cronic pain for 3 days and could not sleep at all, got very buzzed. When I told the doc why I stopped taking it, he added Rozeram to help sleep. That helped for 2-3 hours. I was told you needed to take it for several weeks for it to work well, but I decided I could not go that long without sleep so stopped taking both. I now take Mobic and sometimes Relaflex ( muscle relaxer) at nite.
394774 tn?1235074439 I was taking Lyrica which was increased to the highest dose because it was not working for my fibromyalgia. I had many of the side effects with the high dosage of lyrica including blurry vision so I weaned myself off of it and had about a months worth left if taken once a day. I have recently been prescribed the Cymbalta because I do have depression from being in pain all the time and not being able to do the things that I am used to doing.
Avatar f tn What dosage of Effexor were you on, and what dosage of Cymbalta did you start with? My doctor said that he was going to put me on Cymbalta also. I'm on 150mg of Effexor and it just don't seem to help anymore. I wondered if I would go to the same dosage of Cymbalta.
Avatar n tn Now having been on it for the last 3 years I think it has stopped working, I am experiencing severe depression when previously I wasn't depressed. If I double my dosage of Cymbalta I feel fantastic. I really don't want to do this, and do not want to discuss this with my doctor as he does not believe I should come off them. He is also most unsympathetic with the body heat and sweating as well. So I would like to wean myself off these drugs.
867787 tn?1318939830 I saw my PCP today & calmly confronted him on my lack of care. He ordered a MRI of my brain & cervical spine but have to check & see which hospitals offer financial aid programs & I'm also still hoping the MSAA comes through. He prescribed me Cymbalta & said it was good for nerve pain. I was wondering if any of you have tried this & if so did it help & are there any side effects I should be aware of?
924711 tn?1290270157 The prozak is less expensive, but what worked for you? I have hep C and fibro and alot of joint pain. Of course I am depressed due to all of that going on, all diagnosed since menopause a few years back. The hep C has been dormant for at least 20 yrs, has to have been that long since exposed. Got any suggestions for me? Besides a gunshot to the head? Nah, just joking!
Avatar f tn Has anybody ever tried cymbalta or savella and does it help ,quickly sigh....I have been on 3ml of ativan a day for 3 years (too long) in hopes that I would be able to find a SSRI to help so I could wean off as it doesnt do much anymore and makes me cold brrr....With fibro it makes one more sensitive to meds and I find the SSRI's make my fibro worse.
553995 tn?1332022440 As you well know every one is different, but here is my list. Ambien 10mg at night, Zanaflex 4 mg 1-3 PRN, Tramadol 25 mg Mild pain, Lortab 5mg Severe pain, Oxaprozin 500 mg 2 X a day, Magnesium, Malic acid, B12, Acai berry, D3 The Ambien, and Oxaprozin are the 2 prescription meds I take every day. The others as needed. I was diagnosed in 2000 and it has just been within the last few years that we have really gotten a great mix.
Avatar f tn I voted on this one, despite having CFS instead of Fibro, but yes, I was on Ritaline and later Dexedrine for ADD for many years. The purpose of both (at least as far as ADD is concerned) is to increase your dopamine levels.
Avatar m tn Valerian root is safe to take with these other drugs. Cymbalta really isn't for everyone. If you're not getting pain relief in 2 weeks, insist on something else. Avoid the narcotics, because they will just make things worse in the long run. If your dx is depression, please please please stay on top of the pain. Be as proactive as possible with diet and exercise. Message me anytime.
572651 tn?1531002957 Dr. Ian Gilron, director of Clinical Pain Research for Queen's Departments of Anesthesiology, and Pharmacology & Toxicology and an anesthesiologist at Kingston General Hospital, found that not only do patients report pain relief, they also report better sleep - something not seen in morphine treatments.
329994 tn?1301666848 I took Cymbalta for 4 yrs and finally just got off of it. While Cymbalta did help manage both my depression and muscle pain, the side effects were what i hated about it. I never had digestion problems from it, but my stomach hurt constantly and my appetite disappeared. Eating became a chore and if i got distracted with school/work responsibilities, i would forget to eat, sometimes for 2 days. I also developed hyperhydrosis and always had a chemical/metalic taste in my mouth.
Avatar f tn I eat about 500g of yogourt per day and drink 2-3 glasses of milk per day. Topamax alone won't make you lose the weight, it will just make it easier for you to do it on your own. I hope this helps you!! Have a great week!!
1221838 tn?1266891448 So I went to my primary doctor and she told that my system could not tolerate Cymbalta at any dosage for me to get so sick from such a small dose. So, she put me on Savella. I have been taking that for about a month give or take a few days. So I was wondering if I am supposed to feel worse before I feel better. So I called my primary doctor and asked her that. I am in so much pain that I can barely walk 10 feet to the bathroom.
Avatar n tn Have she tried any other FDA approved medications for fibromyalgia besides Lyrica? For example, Cymbalta and Savella?. Having terrible reactions to those pills, I take Trazodone which has tremendously helped me from being a cripple.
602504 tn?1219987696 I take Lyrica for nerve pain, and it is prescribed for fibromyalgia. It works in good synergy with the opiate you are on, too. Give it a try, I take 200mg daily, but you have to start with half of that, it's very strong. Also, you should have them check your lymph glands where your armpits are, to make sure that your arm strength hasn't been affected by infection or cancer spreading to that location.
Avatar f tn She told him, it was like him having the flu and the symptoms can come on and hang on for months because of the immune system being out of wack. The Fibromyalgia Network has many journals/issues that focus on the family and helping them understand the illness, meds needed and the difficulties we face. Don't complicate you suffering by allowing guilt to cloud how you take care of yourself. No one else is walking in your shoes, how can they tell you how to confront your pain.
Avatar m tn It is hard to say how you will react to any of those medications. For many it is a "trial & error". I used both Gab & Lyrica, but I retained to much fluid in the ankles so dr. took me off of them. For me I just use OTC medications when I need to.
Avatar f tn I have had TONS of testing from brain MRI (rule out MS) Nerve and muscle testing, fibromyalgia tender point exam....you name it. I know for me this is a symptom of thyroid but I am getting impatient. With a vacation quickly approaching I need to be able to move around normally. Has anyone had success with an antidepressant for pain? How long until I feel the results? Should I just wait this out because it can take months if not years to find the right hormone dosage?
Avatar f tn com site (I live in Ottawa, Ont, Canada) and research everything you could find on fibromyalgia. The Internet has a wealth of information available for you to peruse. Here is what I did: I made an appt. with an Environmental specialist and a Naturopath. Between both of them I have come a long way. They checked my Thyroid Level, hormone levels, iron, adrenal function just to rule out any other problems. Once armed with this information I started on supplements to build up my immune system.
1511671 tn?1316567803 I have Fibromyalgia and was stable for some time on a low dose of Vicodin. I got an inplant last fall for pain in the occipital region of my brain. A "Occipital Neuromodulation" stimulator. It helped initially but as with a lot of treatments the pain relief gradually subsided. I went to my PCP and told him the two vicodin a day were not helping anymore so he suggested Methadone for long term pain management. I was a little put off because of the negative image Methadone has.
881463 tn?1245349249 Believe it or not unless really necessary I don't even really want anymore tests because of the very high anxiety state I go into just prior to the test and then waiting for the results. Part of me can't see with all of the tests (Especially the CT scans) I have had that something serious would be missed e.g chest cancer or Heart disease.
975514 tn?1325001538 Does anyone know of fibromyalgia spontaneously disappearing, or will I be on these pills for the rest of my life? I will gladly do it if I have to, but I'm curious to know if there's a chance.
295756 tn?1247129492 This is what i have found a little about this This product is indicated for the management of fibromyalgia and for the treatment of depression and anxiety. It works by prolonging the effect of serotonin and norepinephrine, both important chemicals in the brain. The exact mechanism of how it improves pain and other symptoms of fibromyalgia is unknown.
Avatar m tn My question is that for the past 3 or so years I have been taking Cymbalta for Fibro....which has been helpful. Then last year I started getting weird symptoms...My heart was racing, I felt like I the room was closing in on me, sweats, and gained about 30 lbs in the last yr. I thought maybe my dosage was off on the Cymbalta so my doctor increased it which I stopped as soon as I started...I felt it was not that.
