For neuropathy and other sensations I had relief with both Cymbalta and Lyrica. The only downside to the Lyrica was difficulty with cognition and drowsiness. Savella (milnacipran) is the new medication and it works much the same as Cymbalta...it is an antidepressant. As uk2 mentioned, the patches help with pain as well. My current treatment is with Ultram for both FMS and RSD and Trazadone for sleep. It's much a 'trial and error'...

We would appreaciate any and all thoughts and comments on Lyrica and/or Cymbalta in the elderly (oh, how she would cringe to be referred to as elderly..) especially examples good or bad and also any alternatives to that type of drug therapy. I was getting free samples from doctor too, but now she doesn't seem to be getting any lately. And yes, they only come in 30 mgs or 60 mgs. Guess I'm gonna have to split up the little capsuls and go down very slow. No, I'm not abuseing the cymbalta...Don't know why anyone would. Their just getting to expensive and at the moment I'm just fighting to keep my head above water and hang onto my house. Lifesaride, I'm on 6 mgs of Sub and can't seem to budge from there.

Some medications can have odd adverse effects in older people that don't happen when we're younger. My mother (same age as your mom) had really weird side effects from lyrica but it didn't help her pain so she quit taking it. I think your mom would benefit from a complete medication review by a gerontologist. That's a doctor who specializes in treating seniors.

even of taking the meds. Tried the cymbalta the other day, made me extremely nauseus,chills and felt like I had the flu. So I stopped it. In your opinion would i be better off with the ultram and valium along with physical therapy, or the cymbalta with valium. I hate taking pills, and the withdrawal from cymbalta looks like a nightmare!! also I am going to start to see a therapist...hopefully that will help. Perhaps they should ask the doctors to run a manual scan of his blood count and ask if they found any abnormalities in the first test. IF they didn't be sure to ask them to do the manual. Hello, In your case, I think that it can be trigeminal neuralgia. Trigeminal neuralgia is very painful swelling (inflammation) of the nerve (trigeminal nerve) that delivers feeling to the face and "surface" of the eye. Trigeminal neuralgia causes severe, short-lasting (only a few seconds) facial pain on the side of the affected nerve even by slight touch. Mostly affects elderly females. May be caused in multiple sclerosis also.

I don't know what to do anymore! I have pain all the time and the past 2 weeks have been hell. I can't sleep well because the pain is waking me up. I have a hard time keeping up at work (fatigue, pain, and concentration), I had pain to an arm so bad last Friday that I could hardly move my arm. Last night I felt like I had a fever with the pain all over but I did not have a fever. I start shaking for no reason or when I bend down. My skin hurts, my arms and legs feel weak.

Actually at first I was nauseous from the medicine and my appetite did decrease. The increase in appetite and cravings didn't start until I upped it to 60 mg and maybe about a week after that is when it started. It's crazy.

I have been on Cymbalta in the past and it was the best antidepressant I ever took. The only side-effects I had was nausea but after 1 week it was gone. My tolerance to alcohol increased, I was very outgoing in the parties etc. I just think it's a really potent and useful drug in both pain and depression and yeah anxiety. It can be stimulating for some, for me it was but it was not interfering with my anxiety.

I have come off of a lot of my medications. My final meds are Wellbutrin, Trazodone and Cymbalta. The Wellbutrin is suppose to take the place of the cymbalta. After horrible withdrawal, I came completely off of Cymbalta last week. I became so depressed that I couldn't stand to talk, much less move. All I wanted to do was sleep and be left alone. When I did interact, I was grizzly mean.

The average dose for Cymbalta is 60mg per day, and although some doctors do prescribe it 120mg per day...there is no evidence to prove that it helps any more than the 60 mg per day. The maximim dose for Prozac is 80mg per day so you're still below the highest dosage on that one. I doubt your doctor will increase the Cymbalta anymore, and if he tries to...find another doctor! No longer covered by her Medicare, her psychiatrist took her off the cymbalta and abilify. Switched to prozac 40 mg once a day. Last day for cymbalta and abilify was Wednesday. She is having horrible throbbing , headaches, angry outbursts, crying, the "runs", nausea, panic, agitation. She cannot get to sleep and wakes up after 4 hours once she does get to sleep. What she wants to know is whether or not she can take tylenol for the headaches?

My tx doses are 1,000 riba and the interferon. And I am doing the white blood cell shot also once a week. This is a lot of drugs to me! Does anyone else take these? I ask the nurse why the thyroid med and she said because the tx would affect that. Cymbalta just because I needed it and is true. Lyrica because of some nerve damage from cryoglobulima. And the rest is history.

I was on Cymbalta and experienced those side effects, but was much better after switching to Lexapro. Good luck!

i have been on cymbalta and abilify for the last 7 months and i don't know which one is causing the hair loss but one of them is.

I put my reservations aside and took the Cymbalta. The problem now is I am only using the samples(30 mg.). It does not say how many times a day to take it.
