Cymbalta and Remeron are often prescribed together. I am assuming that the same prescriber wrote for both( based on your statement of "doctor has added Cymbalta to the mix". The manufacturer does state that steady-state dosing does occur in about 3 days. So my suggestion to you would be to contact your prescriber. This is the not the combination of drugs for your system.

I have since stopped taking the tramadol at all unless i am hurting then and there. And I now take the Cymbalta in the AM because I am now on Remeron for depression. I think i might have been taken the tramadol to keep from hurting rather than if I was hurting and I was hooked on it. The SS thing I was asking about was because I had not started having the fever and bad stuff yet but had started the mild things like nausea, mood swings, insomnia (even though i was taking Ambien!
Oh the Wellbutrin is helping with my energy levels but, I'm still having a hard time concentrating and Paxil seemed to help with my anxiety and for some reason it helped me to focus better. I have an appointment to see my doctor Thursday and we both talked about going back to the beginning and really evaluating what medications were the best. I need to work on finding a way to keep my energy levels up and while dealing with all of these issues.
I believe I had serotonin syndrome because my psychiatrist decreased my Remeron use and started me on Cymbalta at the same time, and it resulted in very scary results. So I stopped all medication a week ago. I want to take Lexapro but I'm scared that my body can't handle 10 mg. Would it be alright for me to start at 2.5 mg at first?
Due to severe depression I was sent to see a shrink. He took me off lexapro(20mg) and doubled the cymbalta(120mg). He also put me on 15 mg of Remeron. It has helped with my sleep but the depression has not changed due to the pain. I have been on the remeron for 2 weeks. Any experience with this med?
I will see my pain manangement doc in 2 weeks. I ahve been on avinza 90mg for 2 years. Xodol for breakthrough pain for 2 years.
s the right way to discontinue antidepressants. And tell your doctor about it too. Cymbalta is one of the harder medications to discontinue and withdrawal can be difficult. But once it is fully out of your system, side effects associated with it should become less and less until it is fully gone. How long has it been since you stopped the med? That is key.
Also, there are other depression medications that work with fewer side effects.
So I have a choice I guess - be fat and free of wanting to kill myself or stop taking this Remeron and get myself back in the hell that is my severe depression and be skinny.
It's no shock that this weight gain happened. My Psychiatrist told me flat out that taking Remeron is like wanting to gain weight. He said it is by far the most weight producing AD med on the market and he didn't lie.
Sheesh! I guess I choose to live and be heavy.
The only thing that has changed is I have been taking antidepressants. First I took Lexapro then Cymbalta and now Zoloft. My doctor keeps changing my meds because of the weight gain and every change only makes it worse. This latest change has caused me to gain about a pound a day. Since Thursday I have gained three more pounds and have been eating next to nothing. I finally convinced my doctor that I am not pigging out all day and she ha ordered a thyroid test.

Basically your doctor gave you choice between 2 class of drug. One being selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) like Lexapro and the other being serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) like Pristiq. (Pristiq is being targeted as the first non-hormonal based treatment for menopause.)
In my humble opinion, and consider that i'm not a doctor, i would talk to you doctor about Cymbalta.
I agree with you that it has to be one addiction at a time. Why are you hesitant to go on and anti depressant? I take Cymbalta 60mg for depression (which I had well before I started abusing pills) and I think it will be a huge benefit for overcoming the depression that goes along with wd's. You are a strong person and you have faith in god, all of that will help you overcome this addiction. I am here often if you need to talk or feel free to PM me anytime.
I posted before, I can't name all I've been on but remeber Prozac, Cymbalta, Wellbutrin, Effexor (Oh God, withdrawls..never again), Remeron (eternal sleep even when awake). Have done some recent research and the crowd points a lot to Zoloft, Lexapro and Celexa. 5 months ago I went off all meds. I've been dealing with a rough year due to divorce. I recently retired (still young though) and simply don't have a lot going on in life.
Did the benzo's help? Were you taking them as-needed, or on a schedule?
Heck I have never even taken a drink of alcohol. I am 37, male. I take Cozaar and Mucinex D along with Klonopin and Remeron and a vitamin (I was low on Vitamin D so they have me taking that). I take Advair for asthma and it works well for that. I eat a normal diet, rarely eat fast food. I have tried stopping milk but made no difference. Any other ideas?
