I have come off of a lot of my medications. My final meds are Wellbutrin, Trazodone and Cymbalta. The Wellbutrin is suppose to take the place of the cymbalta. After horrible withdrawal, I came completely off of Cymbalta last week. I became so depressed that I couldn't stand to talk, much less move. All I wanted to do was sleep and be left alone. When I did interact, I was grizzly mean.

Overall I think Cymbalta is one of the best medication out there but this have a cost. Cymbalta cost is outrageous and Cymbalta is very hard to stop. I stopped cold-turkey after using it for only 5 months and I had brain zaps for a little more than a month. The withdrawal was quite severe but it is expected with all potent powerful antidepressant.

Actually my pdoc took me off my anti depressant, the kind I was on was making me worse rather then bette(Cymbalta), it was making me seriously hypomanic. I'm on Serequal and Lamactil now, very new.. so I haven't stabilized yet, but noticing a different on the Serequal. My pdoc said that afterwards, if I am still having issues battling the depression, they might add Wellbutrin because it's supposed to be well tolerated with the mood stabilizers.

Hi, Last year I was taking Endep a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor and it launched me into a manic period which lasted for four months I'm hypomanic Bipolar 2. I just found out tonight that my brother (who if not hypomanic I'll eat my hat) is seeing a psychiatrist and has been taking Cymbalta for a week. He says that he has not been enjoying the tablets at all and feel's like he has energy to burn just sitting on a couch.

Mostly happy and energetic enough to ride a bicycle and exercise regularly. But now the depression is longer and worse. I tried Cymbalta and too many side effects. I went off and felt better then certain triggers like toxic people bring me down. A change in routine sends me Manic. A few days ago I had to take 4 benadryl to come down off of it and stop it. So toxic people are absolutely not allowed in my life. I am seeing my Phychiatrist tomorrow to talk about what we can do.

How far along in your detox are you again? And how many days of your other bipolar med did you miss, and when (in relation to these symptoms) did you start seeing these symptoms? How long after you restarted it? That's the problem with these kinds of things when a person has multiple things going on at once, it's SO hard to pin down the problems to one clear source. I think it's logical to stop the Cymbalta as you decided with your doc.

i have taken both of these meds. cymbalta was more stimulating and helped with my back pain. if i remember right, the starting dose is 20mgs. they prescribe this drug to alot of people with fibromyalsia(sp)? take care.

No longer covered by her Medicare, her psychiatrist took her off the cymbalta and abilify. Switched to prozac 40 mg once a day. Last day for cymbalta and abilify was Wednesday. She is having horrible throbbing , headaches, angry outbursts, crying, the "runs", nausea, panic, agitation. She cannot get to sleep and wakes up after 4 hours once she does get to sleep. What she wants to know is whether or not she can take tylenol for the headaches?

You shouldn't take either 5-HTP or St. John's Wort along with an anti-depressant, because it's theoretically possible to get an overdose of serotonin. I'm also curious about the term "mood swings." Anxiety and depression are what 5-HTP can help with, and St. John's Wort is for depression. Melatonin is a sleep aid. But mood swings are different from anxiety and depression.

I've been smoking marijuana for about 5 years. I've been diagnosed bipolar for about 2 years. I recently had a really bad reaction to pot. REALLY bad. I almost killed myself, screamed at my friends, and vomited for 2 days. No one else that smoked it had a bad reaction. I haven't had a medication change recently. I'm on lamictal, seroquel, wellbutrin, cymbalta, and adderall. I don't know what happened. It wasn't laced or else everyone would have gotten sick.

Kept going back to G.P explaining how I was feeling and asking for anti-depressants to be upped or changed. Eventually he decided to sent me to a psychiatrist and on my first appointment he said I had Bipolar. Is this normal on your first appointment.

I would like to get off suboxone sometime this year. could i take something like cymbalta and just quit the suboxone - basicly having the anti depressant take it's place in some way? are there any combinations that work with suboxone? I am seeing my phsciatrist tomarrow and would like to have some ideas as far as my medications. this is so confusing, yet liberating that soon i will be functional for the first time in my life. I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for 10 years, on Cymbalta for 4-5 years and Geodon for 4 years. I have been on Geodon 40 mg at times, but recently for the last year or so, on 20 mg. Recently, my psychiatrist bumped me up to 40 mg again. It seems like the last time I was on 40 mg, I also had anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience with Geodon, since that is the only thing that has changed recently.

First thing first is to relax and stop being terrified - Bipolar women give birth to healthy babies all the time - it just means some drugs may need to be adjusted or changed.

I was also alil manic, I am Bipolar. I was loving it...after a few months..I broke out w/ horrenous welts all over my enitre body and not to mention I was having severe hot flashes after a full surgical hysterectomy..I felt as if someone was lighting matches and tossing them @ me.during the Summmer it was aweful...where I would just leap up and yelp..in the bus, in BBQ's. except for my face.Thank God....still after 2 years I have the scars..(don't laugh) I'm on it again.. .

I have been taking cymbalta(60mg) and wellbutrin (200mg) daily for 3 years. I decided I was tired of taking it, it didn't seem to be helping me anymore, and I was tired of the expense. I quit wellbutrin cold turkey about a 5 days ago and I quit cymbalta cold turkey 3 days ago. I now feel like I am losing my mind. I have been feeling and acting somewhat manic. I have felt kind of 'hi' and actually like it.

I am sorry to say you can still have them. I am on lamictal and cymbalta and I still have episodes. They are not magic pills. If you are having episodes and are worried about them then maybe you should see a therapist for the day to day coping and dealing with these issues.

i was on lexapro for 8 days dr stopped it put me on cymbalta and i was on cymbalta in 07 no allergic reaction i haved treid it since then but get scared and stop it if i was ok on it before should i have no problem with alergies and does anyone know of anyone thats been on cymbalta and klonopin and plus i will be going on abilfy on monday i haved fear of meds and think im allergic all the time i have just taking my second cymbalta 10 min ago and alreadt htink im allergic plus i seem unclear thin

Have just started my new medication deparoke 1000mg a day along side my cymbalta 60mg and am feeling a little spaced out as well as heavy limbed! Has anyone else taken this combation for bipolar I also feel very nervous like something bad is going to happen! Any advise welcomed.

I never did see any difference from using it vs Cymbalta. I had tried it since I did not really notice anything while using Cymbalta. I could up the dose I guess however, the cost of all the meds I take are just to great to go higher. As is I split the dose to make it last longer. No side affects though. I swear by Tramadol 200 slow release and Lyrica. Without those two I would be a complete mess.

i want to start taking cymbalta for bipolar depression and chronic pain and wondered if anyone takes this, what the side effects are and how it helped with pain and depression. i take prozac and lortab and would like to get off the lortab and can't take prozac all the time because it makes me severely anxious if i'm not in a major depression. any advice or experience stories would be helpful.

I have bipolar with major depression for more than 20yrs. I have missed and ruined the best years of my life and my kids life the things I wanted I never did them well maybe in my next lifetime. So u no I am over 50 and hope not to live that long, but I just in not even a year put on over 40 pounds which I was that weight when I was 13yrs and talk about bullying in 1960 was depressing.

We saw her doctor on Friday and he upped her Cymbalta and Clozaril. Said he wasn't aware of any blood tests for these meds but that you might know something he didn't. He didn't think she was tapered off the Geodon too quickly so hopefully these increases will help. You didn't mention whether or not you have heard about The Road Back Program. When you have time I would appreciate your comments about that. Thank you for your other suggestions...we will pursue.

Have you been diagnosed Bipolar? Usually Tegratol is used as an atypical mood stabilizer, originally on the market for seizures. Zoloft is a good drug, but I have to say, my own personal experience is that it's didn't help me keep the weight off, but there are so many variables. You are in a precarious position due to your other medical conditions. I recommend you sit down with your GP regarding these drugs.

I was on cymbalta but got very bad dierehha ,the dr was going to ahve me do both but since i got the dierehha she said stop the cymbalta and just do abilfy,Im so worried it wont help,she even said it might help my anxiety and racing thoughts,,any imput

Do you have bipolar disorder? If so, being on Cymbalta alone can cause problems like this as I see nowhere that it is a mood stabilizer or antipsychotic. Antidepressants alone can cause huge problems, so if you're no longer on lithium, I'm not surprised by this. Either way, you need to see your prescribing psychiatrist soon for a medication evaluation. Something needs to be changed.

I'm being treated for Bipolar. Just upped the Cymbalta to 90mg, on Lamictal and adderal. Just broke up with a boyfriend and have hibernated for three days. Have to work tomorrow. My question: has your bipolar made an impact on your ability to make good decisions? Are you impulsive? And, does anyone know if opana er contributes to symptoms? I have fibromyalgia and arthritis.
