cymbalta

1237757 tn?1323143119 Hi, Last year I was taking Endep a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor and it launched me into a manic period which lasted for four months I'm hypomanic Bipolar 2. I just found out tonight that my brother (who if not hypomanic I'll eat my hat) is seeing a psychiatrist and has been taking Cymbalta for a week. He says that he has not been enjoying the tablets at all and feel's like he has energy to burn just sitting on a couch.
Avatar f tn I never did see any difference from using it vs Cymbalta. I had tried it since I did not really notice anything while using Cymbalta. I could up the dose I guess however, the cost of all the meds I take are just to great to go higher. As is I split the dose to make it last longer. No side affects though. I swear by Tramadol 200 slow release and Lyrica. Without those two I would be a complete mess.
766412 tn?1234893283 When do you take the Cymbalta? When I was on it (for a very short period of time), it was stressed that I take it in the morning because of the activating qualities that it has. Like others have said, it may be good to have a sit down to review your meds, if sleep is still and issue. I also think it's a good idea periodically, like getting your car tuned up!
Avatar f tn Exactly what is a pdoc? Are you referring to a psychiatrist? Is Lamactil the only med you are taking, or are there others? Are these meds generally used for bipolar? I don't think I am bipolar, and I don't think my therapist does either, but I am still curious to know what drug combo's work for other people. Well, thanks to you and everyone else for the support.
5082295 tn?1371250911 He asked how I knew it was the Cymbalta (I said bc everything else for bipolar ive been on for 7yrs or more) He said ok well all I can say is stop taking it..well duh of course I am. So I said will I die from these tremors, like does that show something serious..his response...I have no idea! so of course I am now a nervous wreck and feel like im having little seizure every 30 sec. So anyway idk what to do about all this until I talk to my doc Monday..
Avatar f tn I am sorry to say you can still have them. I am on lamictal and cymbalta and I still have episodes. They are not magic pills. If you are having episodes and are worried about them then maybe you should see a therapist for the day to day coping and dealing with these issues.
98010 tn?1305899735 Honestly, I had been on about every antidepressant known to man until properly diagnoses - the last being Cymbalta. My pdoc told me that the Cymbalta was the worst thing for me and it resulted in a psychotic manic episode (along with ADD meds). He doesn't recommend AD's for me. At times, I still feel like I could use them - but he doesn't agree. SO, my treatment is Lamictal 200mg. It has been a life saver for me. Literally.
Avatar f tn You shouldn't take either 5-HTP or St. John's Wort along with an anti-depressant, because it's theoretically possible to get an overdose of serotonin. I'm also curious about the term "mood swings." Anxiety and depression are what 5-HTP can help with, and St. John's Wort is for depression. Melatonin is a sleep aid. But mood swings are different from anxiety and depression.
525545 tn?1293181194 I wanted to know if anyone has been taking effexor for nearly a year my dosage is 150mg twice a day. Now my psychiatrist wants to put me on Cymbalta. He told me that it takes time for my body to accept the change and for a couple of weeks I won't have much of either in my system. I don't know what dosage is yet. I am wondering if I am doing the right thing. I have been battling severe depression and chronic pain for years. If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever been stable for 16 years only to have the bipolar illness come back again, then remission again for 16 years? Now I've been depressed the past 3 years. I'm on a recently increased dose of 2500 mg Depakote, 60 mg Cymbalta, 100 mg Lamictal, and 100 mg Geodon. Nothing really seems to help. I've felt sort of emotionless, unable to enjoy things like I used to. Just haven't felt like myself.
Avatar m tn I have been posting on the neurology forum due to my symptoms of numbness & tingling all over my body . I do have an abnormal MRI. I have seen a surgeon and he says he can see where the numbness could affect my arms but not my whole body. I finally broke down and went to a Psychiatrist. I was diagnosed as "classic , textbook bipolar. I have taken zoloft for years now, but he changed me to Cymbalta & added depakote.
Avatar f tn I haven't taken Cymbalta but I was on Depakoate for a while. At the beginning I did experience cognitive confusion, unsteadiness and nervousness. However this improved over time. Some of these side effects are not uncommon but each person responds differently to each medication. Keep track of the side effects you are experiencing as well as how you are responding to the medications.
1258539 tn?1293840202 Overall I think Cymbalta is one of the best medication out there but this have a cost. Cymbalta cost is outrageous and Cymbalta is very hard to stop. I stopped cold-turkey after using it for only 5 months and I had brain zaps for a little more than a month. The withdrawal was quite severe but it is expected with all potent powerful antidepressant.
804276 tn?1480858056 i want to start taking cymbalta for bipolar depression and chronic pain and wondered if anyone takes this, what the side effects are and how it helped with pain and depression. i take prozac and lortab and would like to get off the lortab and can't take prozac all the time because it makes me severely anxious if i'm not in a major depression. any advice or experience stories would be helpful.
Avatar f tn He also added Cymbalta for depression. When she was on the Geodon, she functioned well, worked, was pretty stable and didn’t need an antidepressant. She is having a hard time with this transition (it's been a couple months now). She doesn’t feel “normal,” said she feels like her skin is crawling, she sleeps a lot during the day and is anxious about her future…wondering if the Clozaril doesn’t work, what will she be able to take.
692643 tn?1372611227 I've been thru cymbalta which was the best pill ever....except..for bad welts..rash..but .no pain @ all ..I was jumpin out of bed.felt great...I was very upset when taken off... .now they put me on zoloft & tegretol..but I'm not takin them yet... .does anyone know if this makes me gain weight I have to watch the weight w/ Diabetes, & back problems..plus of course I have hep -c...so i need these meds so I can start my treatments... .
Avatar f tn I have Bipolar 2 and was placed on Lamictal 5 years ago at 200mg. I found for years I was stable with only little depression. Mostly happy and energetic enough to ride a bicycle and exercise regularly. But now the depression is longer and worse. I tried Cymbalta and too many side effects. I went off and felt better then certain triggers like toxic people bring me down. A change in routine sends me Manic. A few days ago I had to take 4 benadryl to come down off of it and stop it.
Avatar f tn I had been doing so well on the lamictal and cymbalta that I thought I had no need for psychiatrist for the last 10 months or so. Now, bam, I need one and who wants to start with a patient that already has SJS. When I had dbl couverage insurance I could get in anywhere. (least of problems) 4. I've seen, neurologist, internal med.
692643 tn?1372611227 I wasn't told which one..I have scz/manic/personality disoders/hypomania. I've crashed from manic> 6 months..or more..I.became sucidial..recently...it was between takin Cymbalta or buyin a bottle of methadone & mixing pills to just give my brain a permante rest...it's exhausting and overwhelming..my mom is ailing and mornings..actully daylight are worse.. I get a new therapist on the 10 th.. all they do is send me to the hospitals even when I'm not sucidal..
Avatar f tn Do you have bipolar disorder? If so, being on Cymbalta alone can cause problems like this as I see nowhere that it is a mood stabilizer or antipsychotic. Antidepressants alone can cause huge problems, so if you're no longer on lithium, I'm not surprised by this. Either way, you need to see your prescribing psychiatrist soon for a medication evaluation. Something needs to be changed.
Avatar f tn Hi,My questtion is ,is anyone on just abilify for depression?
1891911 tn?1331040066 I'm being treated for Bipolar. Just upped the Cymbalta to 90mg, on Lamictal and adderal. Just broke up with a boyfriend and have hibernated for three days. Have to work tomorrow. My question: has your bipolar made an impact on your ability to make good decisions? Are you impulsive? And, does anyone know if opana er contributes to symptoms? I have fibromyalgia and arthritis. Thanks for anything.
