Avatar f tn Hi and Welcome ... I am not sure at all but wanted to stop by to welcome you. My dog (yes, I am serious) takes that med for her autoimmune eye disorder, but I'm not sure of its properties, etc. for hives.
Avatar m tn (interestingly though, a few days before at the vet, the schirmer test was 12 in both eyes). Now 6 weeks later, the right eye has a 6 and the left eye still has 0. The specialist reviewed all of the options with us - cyclosporine, pilocarpine or tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said that very rarely has she seen any dog respond to cyclosporine after not responding to tacrolimus.
Avatar m tn and the vet will probably prescribe cyclosporine drops to help the eye produce more tears. Before you use the cyclosporine drops, be aware that they will sting your dogs eyes, and long term use may contribute to kidney disease...talk this over with your vet. Since your dog is 12 years old, please have annual bloodwork done on him to assess liver and kidney functions...bloodwork should be done on all senior dogs. Best Wishes for you and your dog.....
Avatar f tn Sorry, I also wanted to tell you that we are currently giving her 1 drop of cyclosporine in her eye 2 times a day. We have noticed that her eye looks much better, and she keeps it open wide after we give her the drops. Her eye seems to start to get cloudy about 6 hours after her drops, would it hurt her to give her the drop 3 times a day, or should we wait and talk to the vet?
Avatar f tn 05%, I was wondering if it is okay to put the eye drops in my eye, and then after like 10 minutes or more use a warm eye compress, I am very stressed due to my bloodshot eyes from dry eye, and I find that the warm compress helps me to fall asleep but do not want to "wash" away or eliminate the effects of the eye drops with the moisture from the warm compress. any thoughts will be appreciated !
Avatar m tn I have been taking Restasis regularly for 2 months now for dry eye treatment. I usually put two drops in my eye at a time instead of just 1. It says it has "Cyclosporine Opthalmic Emulsion .05%. I have taken two Oraquick home tests and they both came up negative for hiv. Would the Cyclosporine be able to cause a false negative?

Avatar n tn How iron clad is the expiration date for cyclosporine eye drops for dogs?
Avatar f tn Doctor John C H III: Thank you very much once again Doctor.Up until now I haven't even really needed artificial tears but I know I will need that and more so I tried to find out about Restasis which is cyclosporine 0.05% suspension ( eye drops) but it seems it hasn't been approved in Europe. Cyclosporine is only available for oral intake for other purposes...
1627010 tn?1299446388 I changed all of her drops and cyclosporine drops are one of the ones I put her on. I put 1 drop in each eye 3 times daily. Her eye has improved some. I know it will always be with her, I just want her to be comfortable, not in pain or discomfort.
Avatar f tn About 6 months ago, I was finally diagnosed and started taking cyclosporine 100 mg 2x day. After a week, I could eat like a normal person—just about anything I wanted. It was great, it even allowed me to travel to Europe. The cyclosporine I was taking was a powder in a capsule, apparently this has been taken off the market and instead I took the same medication, but it was in the form of a capsule with alcohol. Unfortunately, after a short time, I was right back to before treatment.
12270954 tn?1424407445 I diligently gave him the meds every 2 hours for 2 days and the doctor said the ulcer was nearly gone and his eye was 75% better. I was so happy and his eye looked so much better. The eye doctor said to continue the meds for another 5 days and recheck. The ulcer was gone and he took him off the Ofloxacin and started him on Cyclosporine to produce tears. So that is where we are now, he’s been on the Cyclosporine for 4 days.
Avatar m tn I am still on 100 mg 2x daily cyclosporine. My cyclosporine through levels have been lower, the last time they were at 79. I Have been on 300 mg ursodiol 3x daily for biliary stricture since tx. I lowered the dose to 300mg once daily but just recently raised it back to 300x 3 daily because right side discomfort an increase in bilirubin. My headaches and fluid in ears have gotten better, still have the vision issues but heart palpitations have also lessened.
Avatar f tn Can I use restasis eye drops on my dog? The vet I use to have made his own eye drops for her and made her eye worse and I live in a small rural community and he's the only vet in the area so don't really want to trust him again.
1732853 tn?1366758928 I'm on Cyclosporine following my liver transplant a year ago. What did you want to know about it?
Avatar m tn Close to five years post liver transplant. No rejections, cyclosporine mono -therapy .Also take 300 mg ursodiol 3x daily for bile duct stricture. Vascular hyper-tensions are becoming a real concern. ie heart, palpitations . fluid in ears , vision problems that aren't related to my actual eyes, the opthamologist confirmed, Migraines that have actually gotten better lately. kidney function is still adequate. My liver is doing very good especially with hep-c..
Avatar n tn ) on 7th sep my eyes started burning and some glare effect, so my opthomoligst told me to stop, after 2 days i feel some blrry drop and eye lid swelling and burning sensation in sun light ,I thought it still will be eye drop effect and did not taken it seriously, On 13th sep i visited eye hospital and they told i have conjuctiviitis, between these six days my eyes were very dry and burning.
Avatar m tn I have chronic eye inflammation due to sjs/ten and have been using a steroid drop and ivig drops to control the inflammation. If I add other types of eye drops that help with inflammation to my regiment will that further reduce the level of inflammation? Or is there a limit to how much the inflammation can be reduced?
Avatar m tn We have tried a couple of different forums but not much response. We also are trying to find out all the pros & cons before we have surgery done. Right now we are using Cyclosporine & Tacrolimus drops 3 times a day plus Genteal severe dry eye gel every hour (6AM –10PM) to keep his eyes comfortable. Luckily there is someone home all day. Our opto said he would check saliva just before the operation.
Avatar m tn You might need to be placed on a prescripton eye medicine called Restasis (topical cyclosporine emulsion), which is a safe and effective treatment. Until you cal see the doctor, use frequent preservative-free artificial tear drops; they come in unit dose vials. Systane, Optive, Thera Tears are some that are available in unit dose vials. You open a vial and use it as many times as needed during the day, and then discard the vial at night.
Avatar n tn In an additional 33 patients, glomerular and tubular NEP protein levels from renal graft biopsies were significantly higher among the 13 patients receiving cyclosporine + EC-MPS than among the 12 patients receiving cyclosporine + azathioprine or 8 patients receiving cyclosporine alone. Glomerular NEP expression inversely correlated with glomerulosclerosis and proteinuria, and tubular NEP expression inversely correlated with interstitial fibrosis.
Avatar m tn I am currently under St Thomas hospital for this, they are stating I should take Cyclosporine for 6 months, I was wondering if someone on here has taken this treatment and it has worked for them??, I am not convinced on this medication as I have read so many bad things about it. My consultant has stated that 70% of people whilst on cyclosporine will be clear, one third will have total remission, one third will be same as before, one third will be worse once the treatment has stopped.
2216594 tn?1339413505 If your sitters are having difficulty applying the ointment into the eye, I do know that you can get optiimune in eye drop form. ( cyclosporine drops ) In addition to the optiimune, you can also purchase over the counter eye drop lubricants. These can be given several times a day, in addition to the optiimune. If you give Optiimune...you need to wait about 5 or 10 minutes before using the over the counter drops.
Avatar n tn I was switched to cyclosporine and Myfortic. When the Incivek was started my cyclosporine was dropped to 25 mg once per day due to their interaction. Due to my previous non-response and to the multiple variations of the HCV I carry my odds were considered to be about 30%, maybe 40% at best. At the end of week 4 the HCV RNA was not detectable. The only additional side effect is that the anemia came quicker this time. I will start Procrit injections probably sometime this week.
Avatar m tn They started in my right eye a couple of days after a bad case of viral conjuntivitis (pink eye). I went to see an ophtalmologist who told me I had "scars" in my retina and put me on RESTASIS® (cyclosporine ophthalmic emulsion) 0.05% and Flarex for two weeks. After a couple of days using the drops the halos disapeared, but they came back about 2 days after I stopped using the drops. I had blunt eye trauma to my right eye from a tennis ball about a year ago (I also have eye floaters).
