restasis

Avatar m tn and the vet will probably prescribe cyclosporine drops to help the eye produce more tears. Before you use the cyclosporine drops, be aware that they will sting your dogs eyes, and long term use may contribute to kidney disease...talk this over with your vet. Since your dog is 12 years old, please have annual bloodwork done on him to assess liver and kidney functions...bloodwork should be done on all senior dogs. Best Wishes for you and your dog.....
1627010 tn?1299446388 I changed all of her drops and cyclosporine drops are one of the ones I put her on. I put 1 drop in each eye 3 times daily. Her eye has improved some. I know it will always be with her, I just want her to be comfortable, not in pain or discomfort.
Avatar f tn Can I use restasis eye drops on my dog? The vet I use to have made his own eye drops for her and made her eye worse and I live in a small rural community and he's the only vet in the area so don't really want to trust him again.
Avatar n tn How iron clad is the expiration date for cyclosporine eye drops for dogs?
12270954 tn?1424407445 I don’t know if his eye will heal and be normal or if I’ll have to give him eye drops for the rest of his life, much less, which eye drops do I give him?! (tear production drops, artificial tears, Tacrolimus, Genteal, I-Drops, Collidad Silver) I don’t know if the Cyclosporine will help produce tears or if it will give him cancer. I don’t know if he will go blind or they will want to take his eye out! I know one thing for sure, the saliva duct surgery sounds awful! Sorry for going on and on.
Avatar n tn First of all, you want to stay away from products like Artificial Tears and other over-the-counter eye lubricants, because these products contain a form of soap as a stabilizer, and while they are fine for occasional use in normal eyes that just happen to be in a temporarily drying condition, for the lifelong treatment that will be needed for dry eye, the soap stabilizer will be too irritating. There are special preparations that contain cyclosporine that are used to treat KCS.
Avatar f tn We have noticed that her eye looks much better, and she keeps it open wide after we give her the drops. Her eye seems to start to get cloudy about 6 hours after her drops, would it hurt her to give her the drop 3 times a day, or should we wait and talk to the vet?
Avatar m tn We have tried a couple of different forums but not much response. We also are trying to find out all the pros & cons before we have surgery done. Right now we are using Cyclosporine & Tacrolimus drops 3 times a day plus Genteal severe dry eye gel every hour (6AM –10PM) to keep his eyes comfortable. Luckily there is someone home all day. Our opto said he would check saliva just before the operation.
2216594 tn?1339413505 the Tear Test, glaucoma test, the prescribed optiimmune, the antibiotic/steroid combo, the eye drops (my little dog hates drops....) the suggestions for surgery for the tear duct deviation, the possible removal if all else fails, etc...My problems were compounded because I am not here to administer all of this every day: I travel for a living.
Avatar f tn 05%, I was wondering if it is okay to put the eye drops in my eye, and then after like 10 minutes or more use a warm eye compress, I am very stressed due to my bloodshot eyes from dry eye, and I find that the warm compress helps me to fall asleep but do not want to "wash" away or eliminate the effects of the eye drops with the moisture from the warm compress. any thoughts will be appreciated !
Avatar m tn What kind of eye drops does the vet have her on? Are they cyclosporine drops?
Avatar f tn Can tacrolimus eye drops and Cyclosporine ointment cause cancer in dogs? My precious dog, baby and best friend was diagnosed just last week with Transitional Cell Carcinoma in his bladder. It is a rapid growing cancer. I am completely heartbroken and am wondering if there was something I could've done to prevent this. He has been on these two eye medications for about a year. His name is Duke and he is a beautiful tri-colored collie and is a little over 10 years old.
Avatar f tn Doctor John C H III: Thank you very much once again Doctor.Up until now I haven't even really needed artificial tears but I know I will need that and more so I tried to find out about Restasis which is cyclosporine 0.05% suspension ( eye drops) but it seems it hasn't been approved in Europe. Cyclosporine is only available for oral intake for other purposes...
Avatar m tn I have been taking Restasis regularly for 2 months now for dry eye treatment. I usually put two drops in my eye at a time instead of just 1. It says it has "Cyclosporine Opthalmic Emulsion .05%. I have taken two Oraquick home tests and they both came up negative for hiv. Would the Cyclosporine be able to cause a false negative?
Avatar m tn I just went through cataract surgery in November. It can be very worth it but there is a lot of aftercare and there can be complications. My dog did not have any issues other than the cataracts except for some inflammation. After surgery we had to deal with one minor ulceration and one fairly major ulceration. She is now healed and doing great. She is no longer fearful like she became when she couldn't see, and no longer slamming into walls either!
Avatar m tn So Ivig eye drops must be used in an experimental study as it is not an FDA approved medication that a regular RX can be written for. Also it is important you understand the risks of chronic steroid eye drops which include cataracts and glaucoma. Generally speaking we do not want patients with Sjorgren's syndrome on steroids for long periods. Most of my patients with your problems I treat with Restasis twice daily for the rest of their life.
Avatar n tn after that i had 2 incidence of cornea abrasion, i feel some reflection from eye lid and have ghost images, my doctor tested me for keratoconus and did not find anything like that and told it is just dry eyes, from last 4 month i am using all type of lubricant gel drops, hot water compression, cyclosporine , omega 3 fatty acid capsules, and it is not much improving, my left eye almost not generating any tears and sometimes i don't feel much sensation in left eye cornea.
Avatar f tn Doctor John, thank you for explaining to me what each of my medicines is for. No, I do not wear contacts, but I do wear my glasses when I need them. My eyes are better now that I'm still on my prescribed medicines.. but unfortunately, they start to itch badly (especially the corners and sometimes the tear ducts) if I delay taking them just an hour or something lol.
Avatar f tn Hi and Welcome ... I am not sure at all but wanted to stop by to welcome you. My dog (yes, I am serious) takes that med for her autoimmune eye disorder, but I'm not sure of its properties, etc. for hives.
Avatar m tn (interestingly though, a few days before at the vet, the schirmer test was 12 in both eyes). Now 6 weeks later, the right eye has a 6 and the left eye still has 0. The specialist reviewed all of the options with us - cyclosporine, pilocarpine or tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said that very rarely has she seen any dog respond to cyclosporine after not responding to tacrolimus.
Avatar n tn Besivance may be OK....I am unsure. It would be fine for human use, but is it fine for dogs? I don't know. I would recommend calling your vet to ask advice about safety for its use in dogs. If you are not sure, then make an appointment with your vet for an appropriate antibiotic lotion. Your dog may even need oral antibiotics as well.
233488 tn?1310693103 Some of the newest are Systane preserved and unpreserved drops and Optive drops. Eye drops for dryness are classified as preserved drops (individual vials that must be used within 24 hrs), preserved drops, gels and ointments. The preserved drops are more expensive and usually only help the small percentage of people that are really allergic to preservatives. Gels and ointments are normally used at night since regular tears won’t last all night.
574219 tn?1217352418 We sterilize a long pin with a head that we use to stick the capsule of the oil, then the oil gets squeezed on the eye without touching it, just 1-2 drops is fine for each affected eye, do this about 4 times a day, if the eye is super dry add a little Bausch & Lomb Soothe PM relief, it is just pure petroleum and mineral oil specially designed for the eye with no other chemicals.
Avatar f tn Below is one of the medical record of a patient, seek help from ophthalmologist,to see if there is any improvement for the treatment regimen. Thank you very much!!! Admission condition: "Found that elevated blood sugar for more than five years, right eye pain for three months". Physical examination on admission showed the following: general condition, VOD:0.5 (correction). Fundus examination of optic nerve papilla edema, conjunctival hyperemia edema slightly.
620923 tn?1452915648 s an infection present if there is pus collecting around the eye. In my experience, an eye problem is usually caused by a scratch and antibiotic eye drops are needed to heal it. If you've been cleaning it yourself, just make sure you don't touch the eyeball & potentially cause more damage. Even soft towel fibers can cause more damage. I'm sure your pet store carries some kind of cleansing/soothing eye drop for dogs. That could be a good place to start to see if it helps her.
