The day I went to doctor, my symptoms were only sore throat and coughing and I was hoping to get the normal penicillin for sore throats and I wasn't given it. I have had upper resp infections in the past but never heard of lower. I searched online and cannot find too much info.

As the X rays are normal, lung function tests could help detect disorders like asthma and COPD.
The plan should include treating with rescue meds regularly (and around the clock) with any respiratory symptoms including sinus. This is supposed to help prevent the asthma flare. If your asthma has already flared, it helps to reduce the duration.

MycoPlasmaPneumoniae, horrible with no treatment of asthma symptoms, next treating asthma symptoms, then finally diagnosed with a form of ABPA. Reaction to aspergillus under skin & high IGE 2200 but no evidence of blood antibodies. Treated with 15mgs prednisone every OTHER day for 3 yrs w/exacerbation occasionally. I went to another Dr. and he sended me for chest x-rays and blood tests. The blood test came back good and the x-rays came back good. Since then I have had this nagging cough. The cough is definately getting better although I cough in the mornings and in the afternoon. I have really bad sinus drip because (sorry for the explaining of this) sometimes when I speak the phlem will come into my mouth and a mouth full.
