Indoor exposure to black mold can cause upper respiratory tract symptoms such as sore throat and cough with or without wheeze in otherwise healthy people. Avatar f tn Many parasitic infestations and worms increase the eosinophil counts in the blood and thus cause an increased risk of upper respiratory infections. Conditions like tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, asbestosis and silicosis along with pulmonary fibrosis should be ruled out. If there is no fever then chances of allergic reaction, acidity and reflux and high eosinophil count are more. Common allergens causing these symptoms are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander.

Avatar m tn If the mucus feels like its coming from the base of your chest then it suggests that the infection is quiet low down your respiratory tract. If you have been feeling more tired or weak this would be the cause of it because you would be unable to transpport enough oxygen to the rest of your body causing fatigue. If you do have a respiratory infection and you chose not to be treated by a gp then you run the risk of pneumonia which would land you in the hospital eventually.

Avatar n tn Well, without a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Possible causes that may need to be considered include respiratory tract infections, inflammations, neuro-muscular causes etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by a primary care physician or a pulmonologist for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn Hello, Your symptoms are typical of pharyngitis or upper respiratory tract infection. It is due to pharygitis or sore throat which occurs sometimes in association with sinusitis. Avatar m tn Hi, Cough and sputum are signs of either common cold or lower respiratory tract infections. In either case, as you have undergone major surgery it is important to get a chest x-ray and examination by your doctor for confirmation of the cause for this. In certain cases, as patient’s are mostly in lying position, chances are high to get fluid accumulation or infection. If it common cold, symptomatic treatment would be enough.
