The half-life of codeine is 2.9 hours. This means that in 2.9 hours, only half the amount of codeine is remaining. In another 2.9 hours another half of that, and so on. However you must keep in mind that codeine is a prodrug. It's main metabolite is Morphine.
Claritin and Clarinex (they work very differently) might help. Claritin makes me light headed for 30 minutes, raises blood pressure a little but wears off after a few hours. Clarinex works better for me, lasts 14 hours on me. Both are pretty weak for antihistamines.
Other than this there is a couple more that use the same med as Claritin, so same effect pretty much. The other antihistamines usually cause drowsyness.
Don't know of too many nasal sprays with out steroids.

my mom has been experiencing this weird outbreak of hives all over her body, and when she has an outbreak it seems to cause severe joint pain,but not in the same joints it kinda travels around.she has been to an allergist but they put her on predisone and clarinex and zantec but as soon as the pred. is done the rash seems to rehash and the clarinex and othe meds seem not to help at all.
Her OB and PCP told her that taking her clarinex was OK. She is miserable without it and right now has a wicked cold. I have been reading now that clarinex is OK to take and other sites saying it is not OK. She is 21 weeks right now. Why would they say it is OK if it isn't? Thanks for any info.
In the meantime, i have switched allergy medication from Clarinex to Xyzal, which may also be helping a little. I now take the allergy medication before bed whereas before, I had been taking Clarinex in the mornings.
I notice that the problem of too much mucus seems less prevalent in the mornings upon waking up. It worsens in the afternoon and evening, especially after meals.

Taking hycodan for sleep is not wise but I know it's done.
I doubt if you would become physically addicted to the cough syrup using it 3 out of seven nights. But stranger things have happened and I believe anything is possible. But cough syrup is for coughs and if you don't have one stay away from the syrup! You can get addicted easily...

this could be a allergic reaction to something have you changed anything lately that you use try priiton syrup see if this helps follow the dosage for your age group if this dos'nt help my advice is see your gp because you also could have a viral infection.
Wellbutrin was not taken off the market.
ANY medication is "abuseable"...from Tylenol to cough syrup, antidepressants, you name it. If someone has a history of addiction, they are at risk for taking meds inappropriately. IN their midset, if 2 tylenol are good, then 4 would be better. You know?

for how long have you been taking it?.......the codeine syrup, how long have you been abusing it? do you get withdrawals or do you just always have a bottle on hand......I never could figure how people get addicted to codeine cough syrup, as how long can a doc prescribe it ....anyhow....

First is the cough from a problem in side or something you are breathing in? A good test I use is a HEPA filted mask. (the kind you can get in the hardware store with canisters). Wearing that for 5 minutes should clear up the mucus quite a bit if it is something you are breathing in. Easy test and takes only 5 minutes. Try a deep breath with the mask on after 5 minutes and see if you still feel like coughing.
41. 6 hours later I took another dose of Benylin. This morning, between 10-12 I took another dose of Benylin after I noticed it wasn't doing anything. I think you should do what the doctor says. If you have to taper off then do. You can try Benedryl to sleep until you get used to getting off of Zoloft. Maybe the promethazine isn't strong enough to stop the nausea from the Zoloft.
