celebrex

548642 tn?1266179652 Since steroids are a big no no on treatment, Shands recommended that I go on Celebrex when I started this round of tx. I have Stage 3/4 liver damage. They must feel the benefits far outweigh the risks in my case.
6708370 tn?1471490210 What pain meds you take should be fully evalutaed by your physician that is cognisant of any liver damage (fibrosis) you may have as well as any other health conditions. In general the pain med "celebrex " is a NSAID that can have containdications if liver damage is severe(as there may be bleeding issues) You may find this article of some interest Will http://hepatitiscnewdrugs.blogspot.com/ Liver damage. Acetaminophen, the No.
Avatar n tn Fosamax is safe for liver patients. Celebrex in the short term (for a couple of weeks) should not be harmful. However, it is not something he wants me on for any length of time.
924711 tn?1290266557 An NSAID, aleve, was what did so much damage to my liver. Had to treat the hep c because I was out of options to save the liver. Now I know I'm going to have a life. Do an internet search of the drugs in question. Your individual sensitivity to a toxin is an unknown (and hep c makes your liver work less well so damage is greater). Research beyong the manufacturer's label. You will rarely find liver damage from the drug listed even in the rare side effects section of the label.
Avatar f tn Which I do know is a sulphamide and I am allergic to sulpha drugs, but in turn, the side effects to Celebrex also mentioned if a rash develops it could be related to liver disease...I was only on the Celebrex for 2 days, so I am still in the dark about the rash. Often at times, I am waking up in the night because of the pain.
Avatar f tn Does anyone take celebrex?I started Prozak last week and they want me to take celebrex too. They say my liver can take it, (stage 2 fibrosis). But I am afraid of the NSAIDs in celebrex, any one else taking it? Oh, I am on Methadone too. I am having my first liver biopsy in the morning, so I will find out more about my liver. I am scared to death about it coz I have had so many problems lately.
Avatar f tn That's awesome!!! I hope the Voltaren helps with your pain. I am sure your liver is fine by now. I wouldn't worry about it. It is just all about waiting for the ALL CLEAR! :) My liver enzyme tests all came back in less than 2 days and sometimes within 24 hours. The labs can turn around tests pretty quickly so you shouldn't have to wait too long.
Avatar f tn Regular doc says I need to take celebrex for arthritis pain. I know it is a NSAID so I am scared of it. He thinks it is not a problem with hep c, but he is not a Hep C doc. What is the scoop on it? Any one taking it with Hep C?
Avatar f tn The pain comes from glial cell stimulation, which does not respond to an opiate. Percocet is unacceptable because of the liver damage. Accupuncture and a TENS device often work. Do a search on "scientific American" magazine. They had some excellent articles on management of chronic pain.
Avatar m tn (interesting article, I wonder if it would impact in any way on HCC? I also have read that limited aspirin intake acn reduce blood pressure, which may be helpful. I've also read that the microbleeding associated with aspirin may over time reduce iron stores in the liver. I've seen articles which claim it to be mildly antiviral as well. It may be worth asking your doctor what they think(!!!!! that last part especially true for advanced staging!!!!!! No self medicating!).
Avatar m tn Hopefully one of the more knowledgable members will come by, to answer this question, but until then, I definitely wouldn't give here Motrin, or Tylenol. Both those meds gave me severe cramps when I took them this year, and I only have fibrosis. Is there an Advice Nurse you can consult, via the phone, at your local E.R.?
Avatar f tn No, it would be unheard of for Celebrex to damage your heart valve. Celebrex and similar drugs do cause high blood pressure in many individuals, though. You might have gone forever and not known about the heart valve if you had not gotten high blood pressure from the Celebrex. Follow whatever advice the cardiologist gave you, and don't worry.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Hi, again Well the tylenol helps but you can't take it all the time or you get liver problems. I off of Celebrex because I 'm not sure if it is the Celebrex or the Neurontin causing my eye problems. the other problem is that I can hardly do anything without tweeking myself. Like I tried to get into bed and I kind of semi-jumped up or reached too quickly up(very lightly trust me) and it pulled my back (a little). Also, just any too fast of a reach or turn.
Avatar f tn The response is correct....you are not supposed to drink alcoholic beverages while taking methotrexate...I was on the same dose as you and my rheumy said no alcohol...some rheumies will allow a certain number of drinks per year...like 1 drink on a special occasion...recommend you contact your rheumy if not already done, as s/he should have provided this direction to you...it's to avoid liver damage...I've since been put on other RA meds, but still can't drink...
Avatar f tn t really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex. After they denied me 4 or 5 times, they finally approved it. So now I take 400mg of Celebrex a day and it's a lot more effective than any other NSAID i've been on.
1415174 tn?1453243103 and I seem to be getting the lesser side effects with all my drugs. Do, you think this will be permanent eye damage, or any damage? I will be seeing an opthamologist when possible.
Avatar f tn I am so scared I have caused damage to my liver. After I get off of these will it repair itself or am I in trouble. The only syntom I have right now is welling in my akiles and feet. But i have taken fluid pills for the fluid for yrs before I started taken lorcet.
Avatar m tn The recommended dose of paracetamol for a single adult is two standard 500 mg tablets. Researches have reported that the threshold for liver damage to start from a single paracetamol overdose is 15 gms (30 tablets). However liver damage could start to occur at a single overdose of 24 standard tablets or 150 mg/kg body weight, (whichever is the smaller).
Avatar f tn (Former drug user) what are the chances I already have liver damage??? I go in the morning for a liver scan to check and I am nervous to know!!!
Avatar n tn Is it possible to cause liver damage from a few years of pain med abuse? Damage severe enough to cause stomach pains?
