Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex for knee pain

celebrex

Avatar f tn I have just started having a dull aching pain in and around my left knee. It has started waking me up at night. I am already on Celebrex 200 twice a day. Could this still be arthritis?
Avatar f tn I have been prescibed Celebrex for osteoarthris pain. Can it be taken every day for long term management of arthritis.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Celebrex (200 mg a day) for about five years for bone on bone knee osteoarthritis. It has worked well for controlling my pain (not perfect but pretty good). I also get some lower back pain (combination of osteoarthritis and nerve stuff) that only happens when I over-do (like trying to garden, etc.). I typically need a day or two of Vicodin for that as the Celebrex does not seem to work for that.
Avatar f tn A Doctor I saw in PA said they will not do anything for my knee because I am to young. I was told to just quit walking up or down hills and steps.(at the time I lived in the Mountains of PA in a Cape cod style house. So that was a little hard. Plus I have 2 kids. 12 and 8.) I have just moved to a 1 floor house in FL and the pain is worse sometimes. Celebrex is not working. Knee grinds. Now the other one is doing it and my Lower back is killing me.
Avatar f tn Regular doc says I need to take celebrex for arthritis pain. I know it is a NSAID so I am scared of it. He thinks it is not a problem with hep c, but he is not a Hep C doc. What is the scoop on it? Any one taking it with Hep C?
Avatar m tn I have been on methotrexate and celebrex for at least 15 years, probably long. I am currently in a tremendous amount of pain in my fingers, elbows, shoulders, left knee and left hip. Volteran gel has not helped at all and neither has Aleve. Can I take tramadol with these two drugs? I have recently switched my insurance and am waiting to get into a new rheumatologist.
Avatar n tn After that with physiotherapy most of your pain will vanish in 12 weeks and for complete pain free and functional knee it would take 6 months atleast. Take care!
Avatar n tn I had a knee replacement 5 weeks ago. I am getting around and doing the rehab very well. However, I still have a fair amount of pain and I am taking a nonnarcotic pain reliever and celebrex. At night, I go to sleep for an hour or two and then I wake up with knee pain and can't get comfortable or back to sleep. What can I do to stop this problem, my orthopedist is at a loss.
Avatar n tn Then after 8 weeks, the surgeon sent me to strength training to build back up for soccer. To see how my knee reacted to cutting and shifting. The real swelling begun then. So the surgeon took me off all activity and had me rest for 2 weeks on celebrex. Swelling went down (of course) and then he said resume activity slowly. Swelling returned. Now he tells me that I have to rest again for another 6 weeks and Im back on celebrex. Does rest really make it heal? Will it ever get better?
Avatar m tn I am in a lot of back and joint pain. I am going to see my pain management doctor today. I take meloxicam for arthritis and I think I'm going to ask for a change. I have been told that Celebrex and Indomethacin is a good non narcotic combination. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.
418155 tn?1205409893 Obviously I do not want to trade one bad habit for another but if it is non-narcotic and can help with my severe pain I would like more info... Thanks!
634733 tn?1316625992 Since that relapse and the arthroscopy I had on the arthritic knee, I have pain, stiffness and all sorts of sx in both my legs and now pain in both knee joints, one hip and my back also gets involved sometimes, this is my main concern currently as I cannot work out what is causing what!!! Avatar f tn Since about 3 weeks I have severe pain on the back of my knee ( left leg), it hurts mostly when walking. Especially after sitting a while, If Advil don't help to ease the pain. I'm not a sports person have not done anything out of the ordinary. the muscle on my calves are very tight and sometimes cramp. I have done a ultrasound to rule out a blood clot. Fortunately nothing was found. Thank you for any response. I do stretch sometimes, put heat on.
Avatar f tn i am 53 years old. i had surgery for torn meniscus in left knee on 10/13/2007, and i have been in pain since. i am currently receiving my 3rd round of synvisc. i have had 3 or 4 cortisone injections, they seemed to be helping but the times in between have gotten shorter. my dr. keeps telling me i'm too young for knee replacement. he tells me it's arthritis, i can't believe it. i am not overweight (147 lbs.), however, before the surgery i weighed 128 lbs.
Avatar n tn um i woke up a few day ago and also had very bad knee pain and wrist pain on the right side. i could hardly stand.but there was no swelling . I am already on a steroid for another medical issue. right now i am being tested for a muscular disease and do not have the results yet. i also have a pinching, tearing, sorta pain in my left lower abdomen alot and the doctors still dont know what that is etheir.
Avatar f tn UPDATE ~ received X-today, but it's unlikely anything will show up. I feel it's soft tissue damage. At least she confirmed swelling, and the blood pooling in my ankle, though it's not as bad as the 1st week of injury. Next will be an MRI after results are sent to her. She gave me a script for Celebrex because I can't tolerate most NSAID's. Another question?? I have no back pain, could this possibly be sciatic nerve pain.
Avatar m tn I am a runner and have been experiencing pain in my right knee for several years. I ran a lot in high school and then stopped for a while and have been trying to get back into it on and off for years (I am 28 now). for the last four years I have been experiencing sharp pain on the outside of my right knee starting usually after running about 3 miles. no pain when I am not running. It comes on gradually but I eventually need to stop running.
Avatar m tn A man aged 81 was taking celecoxib 100mg daily following knee replacement surgery for osteoarthritis. Three weeks after commencing celecoxib he developed jellybean-shaped loss of vision centrally in each eye. This occurred every day after his morning dose and lasted for a few hours. The celecoxib was stopped and there was no recurrence of the visual disturbance.
Avatar n tn I have recently started having random joint pain, shoulder, wrist, hand, knee and have found that resting the joint in a splint or brace reallly helps. However, the latest pain is in my jaw - this happened last night. Anybody else had this?
Avatar m tn I was told today by my awesome insurance company that they will not cover Celebrex. I have been on meloxicam for many years. I'm on day 25 norco free and working with my pain management doctor on non narcotic relief. I thought this maybe a good choice but the insurance company disagreed. Any opinions on arthritis relief options. I have liver issues and I'm tested every 6 months. I also have stenosis, 2 bulging discs and one that has been detached.
Avatar dr m tn OMG! Thank u so much! You have described exactly the kind of pain I have along with OA in my shoulders, spine, and hips. I had an MRI and the diagnosis was DDD in T11 & T12 but was not a candidate for surgery. I have been taking percocet 10/650 3 times a day but it doesn't help with all the pain I have. Like u said it is very difficult to explain the different kinds of pain. I wake up with pain from the OA & I take a pill in the A.M at noon and 1 in the evening.
Avatar n tn I do take Celebrex for the rib pain these last month. I were diagnosed yesterday with Cotsochondritis but do not know if it can be something else. I did started treatment 2 years ago for the stomach - Nexium 4mg (five family members died of colocancer) I also have this strange pain in my hips down my legs - it starts and then after a while it feels better but then it feels tender over the vains and the muscles. Can this be my lower back.

Avatar f tn Tramadol has taken care of the pain. My pain physician says it is safe but I have been depressed and my stomach hurts for the last three days. I went down to 350 mg a month ago. Would I have withdrawals at this dosage for this amount of time? I can't take NSAIDS either, they burn a hole in my stomach, can anyond recommend a non narcotic that has nothing to do with opiate receptors?
Avatar f tn Ask your doctor. There are a gazillion different non-narcotic anti-inflammatory meds to try for osteoarthritis pain. Narcotics just don't seem to work well for any kind of bone pain, and like gemini said, meds like Lyrica and Cymbalta are mostly effective on nerve pain. It's great that you're doing yoga to keep your joints flexible but you might ask your doctor about doing more muscle-building activities.
