celebrex for joint pain

I took Celebrex for several years for joint pain due to Crohn's. I keep having bowel obstructions so I went to a new dr. He told me to stop taking the Celebrex and start taking a tylenol everyday. I have not had any more obstructions but I do still have some joint pain.

The dentist sent me back to the surgeon and they gave me a prescription for Celebrex. The Celebrex worked, I could open my mouth all the way and pain free, but only if I kept on taking it. I can't afford that, being a student, so I settled for taking an Aleve whenever the pain gets worse. Now there seems to be a nodule in the hollow of my jaw, just below the TMJ (again, left side only)/ I have pointed this bump out to clinic doctors, and no one gives it any credibility.

I too have migrating joint pain, but no swelling. I take Celebrex and it controls the pain nearly 100%. I was taking pain meds, Oxycodone, lowest dose. But that didn't work as well as Celebrex. So now it's just the Celebrex.

true, I was on celebrex for a short time and it did not work for me. I thought it was making even more edgy and did not help with my muscle & joint pain. I think just like everything else, it is different for different people. Good luck & welcome to the forum.

I have recently started having random joint pain, shoulder, wrist, hand, knee and have found that resting the joint in a splint or brace reallly helps. However, the latest pain is in my jaw - this happened last night. Anybody else had this?

I am in a lot of back and joint pain. I am going to see my pain management doctor today. I take meloxicam for arthritis and I think I'm going to ask for a change. I have been told that Celebrex and Indomethacin is a good non narcotic combination. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

Hi, about three weeks ago i developed sudden joint pain in my left knee and left elbow. the joints became swollen and hot to the touch.The joints were stiff espiecially in the morning, but through taking celebrex once a day i was able to regain a full range of motion. Initially the doctor took fluid from the knee joint because his feeling was that it may be gout.

OMG! Thank u so much! You have described exactly the kind of pain I have along with OA in my shoulders, spine, and hips. I had an MRI and the diagnosis was DDD in T11 & T12 but was not a candidate for surgery. I have been taking percocet 10/650 3 times a day but it doesn't help with all the pain I have. Like u said it is very difficult to explain the different kinds of pain. I wake up with pain from the OA & I take a pill in the A.M at noon and 1 in the evening.

m thinking of seeing my neuro to see if I can take the gabapentin during the day (right now I take 500 mg before bed only). My regular doctor is the one that prescribed the Celebrex thinking the joint pain was arthritis, though my x-rays and blood work were normal. I'm pretty sure that I'm having muscle issues that will sometimes cause some joint pain, but I do think the problem is starting in my muscles. But, what the heck do I know?

I have been on Celebrex, prednisone, plaquinal, methatrexate, enberol, folic acid, fosamax. I stopped celebrex and prednisone for one month, joint pain became worse, I am on Nexium for the gastritis. I have been healthy except for the rheumatoid arthritis. This burning pain and shortness of breath is getting me down. Surgery has been suggested to me as well however my doctor has me on celebrex for the arthritus and also tylenol arthritic medication pain killers. I have heard that over a long period of time celebrex may not be good for you however in the interim until you decide it may give you some help.

You have fractured at the radius, below the elbow so using arm at shoulder joint for circulation and mobility is good. Do not move the forearm at the elbow joint till some days. Bone is one of the strongest substance and with hairline fracture due to injury, it will get alright with time as there is no problem with alignment or displacement. It will take 1-2 weeks for the granulation tissue to form and complete the healing process in 2 more weeks.

The doctors told me to get off of the Celebrex but I could get the steriod shots if I needed to. Once I started the tx for HCV the joint pain has not bothered me. I have no clue what that all means, that is just my story.

I do take Celebrex for the rib pain these last month. I were diagnosed yesterday with Cotsochondritis but do not know if it can be something else. I did started treatment 2 years ago for the stomach - Nexium 4mg (five family members died of colocancer) I also have this strange pain in my hips down my legs - it starts and then after a while it feels better but then it feels tender over the vains and the muscles. I have been on Cellcept for 5 months for multiple sclerosis. I developed generalized joint pain, lower back pain, and now have a low RBC count. thank you for answering my questions. Yes, I wonder too about the quality of life. I have 90 pills to use up and then after that I will decide if I really need to continue. I have a Drs. appt. in April. The last Dr. i saw recommended I try Tamoxifen. Reading other comments suggests that tamoxifen is for premenapause women so why did that dr. prescribe that for me? Since I am 74. Reading other comments suggests that arimedex leads to weight gain. that I do not want.
