Avatar n tn Our doctor gave us no idea on how to accomplish this. I was told by someone else she needs to take in 250 - 300 grams of carbs per day. Is there a list somewhere of foods and there carb value. Also which are good carbs and which are empty carbs? Gaining 1/4 of her body weight seems excessive.
Avatar f tn Well, some crackers are healthier than others, but taste can be a big factor. Not all processed food needs to be avoided all the time, just use a sense of balance. If you eat almost all healthy whole foods then by all means eat what you like sometimes or you'll stress yourself out trying to be perfect. If you shop in health foods stores you'll find all sorts of unusual crackers made of grains healthier than wheat and lacking sugar and other unwanted ingredients.

1157811 tn?1263831494 Complex carbs in fruit and veggies, whole grain breads, crackers, cereal and pastas are good. Nuts seeds and legumes are complex carbs also. These are good carbs. Bad carbs are sugar, white bread, white pasta, deserts, cookies, donuts, pop and chips. Stuff like that. I would also keep away from high carb foods at night. I have also found that simple carbs make me very hungry. This is because your body gets a rush of sugar and then it drops suddenly making you hungry.

Avatar n tn Google Glycemic Index [GI] and understand the difference between good carbs [complex] and bad carbs [simple]. Carbohydrates [simple carbs] that break down quickly during digestion and release sugar rapidly into the bloodstream have a high GI; carbohydrates that break down more slowly, releasing sugar more gradually into the bloodstream, have a low GI. As asok mentioned, watch the carbs. Carbs are wreak havoc to a t2 diabetics glucose level. 2.

Avatar f tn My first two I had the worst morning sickness ever but half way through my second preg I learned to keep water and crackers next to the bed. Before your feet get out of bed sip water or ginger ale and nipple on crackers. Its best to then wait a few before getting up. Keeping carbs and protein as a main source of snacks helped relief a lot of my morning sickness. If I even remotely felt hungry then I'd get sick and vomit.

Avatar n tn Hi everyone, Congrats on all of your pregnancies :) I'm getting a lot of feedback from my husband about my nutrition. I feel like I'm eating well (kale or spinach salad, Greek yogurt, nuts daily) and taking my prenatal. Oh and I chug water all day. However, whenever I reach for crackers or ginger ale I feel like he's upset at me. I know nutrition is important but sometimes I just need some carbs or ginger ale to keep from throwing up. Am I being too sensitive?
Avatar n tn ll need to eat more fat and protein along with whole grain slowly digestible carbs. Avoid highly process carbs and cakes, candies, cookies - things which break down easily and will raise your sugar.. Make sure you put fat with your carbs as it also slows down the absorption. Use natural fats as much as possible. Ie butter or cream in your potatoes, cream in your coffee. Do not use low fat foods. Regular fat cheese and yogurt, etc. Eat the fat from your meats.
Avatar f tn Usually the more you don't eat...the more nauseous you get. Try eating small portions. Like grazing throughout the day especially when you're about to get nauseous. Carbs are usually what ladies reach for. Try crackers, bread, noodles, pasta, even french fries. I drank gingerale with my first pregnancy. Then opted for less sugary Perrier (carbonated water). Both helps sooth my tummy. Hopefully you find some thing you can eat/drink that works for you.
Avatar f tn If you want some carbs, then eat wheat pasta, or whole grain crackers. I put Tuna on whole grain crackers. These are complex carbs and do not cause insulin spike. Obviosly NO sugar at all. It is instanty converted into fat. Eat the right food and you can pig out on them and still loose weight. No need to go hungry. 978175 tn?1304439383 You're welcome, Crystalann. Sugar comes in different varieties other than refined table sugar, or in your case, coffeemate. Google simple carbs vs complex carbs. Simple carbs are digested easily thus their sugars enter the bloodstream more quickly resulting in your glucose levels being jacked up. White foods are considered simple carbs; white flour, white bread, crackers, potatoes, pasta, and milk. Also, read the ingredient label carefully on packaged foods.

12476392 tn?1433685731 I can have a full course dinner or meal right before sleeping and I still wake up absolutely starving. My tummy hurts like it hasn't had food in days till I feed it. Anyone else?
613536 tn?1294238447 Once preggo, your body demands more glucose, and you need glucose for energy etc. Keep a white soda and saltine crackers at the bed side, for in the mourning to help the nausea. But i really suggest the 6small meals, your body does need food and as bryann said, not eating can make you sick. Im not preggo and get a little sick when i miss eating dinner and just go to sleep. I hope you feel better, keep us posted on what your trying to help you feel better.
Avatar n tn I often eat a few cookies , bolus , then grab a few more and deliver another bolus 5 minutes later followed by a small scoop of ice cream and then deliver a larger bolus just to be sure it covers it all ( sometimes this results in a low). Same thing with other snacks such as crackers or any other food available in the kitchen. My question is should I try to limit myself on carbs ? and if so how?
Avatar f tn Eat crackers (without salt) first thing in the morning, even before brushing your teeth. There r preggo pops at baby r us that helped me.
Avatar f tn I noticed a lot of times if I just ate something little in the morning and got something in my stomach I would feel better and be able to slowly snack on stuff and not feel horrible. Try little things like applesauce, maybe jello.
