Avatar f tn Test his BG before he eats and 1 hour after. for many people they get reactive hypoglycemia. They eat BG rises high then the pancreas makes insulin and too much so BG goes down too far. Many that have reactive hypos end up developing diabetes. so it is a good idea to keep on top of it. also carbohydrates raise BG " almonds, boiled eggs and tomatoes" not many carbs in that. the oatmeal would have a lot of carbs and a lot of carbs can cause a reactive hypo. also is you meter good?
1301482 tn?1325722991 There are 2 types of carbs; simple carbs, such as those found in sodas, things made with white refined sugar, flour, white rice, and even fruit. The other type of carb is the complex carb (otherwise known as dietary fiber), which is found in whole grains, veggies, seeds, nuts, etc. The simple carbs are broken down quickly and enter the blood stream as sugar, which if not used, is then stored as fat. Complex carbs/fiber are broken down slowly and keeps you feeling fuller longer.
483733 tn?1326798446 When roasted, place sausages on a cutting board and tomatoes and onions in a food processor. You may have to do this in 2 batches. Squeeze in garlic and discard skins. Pour a little broth onto baking sheets. Using a wooden spoon, scrape up and stir in any brown bits from baking sheet. Add to food processor. Whirl until fairly smooth. Pour into a saucepan along with remaining broth. Bring just to a boil.

393685 tn?1425812522 Realising and monitorign the effect on my blood sugars is also very motivating. I now know that both carbs and calories count in keeping my sugars stable. Calorie intakes greater than 2000 calories tend to send my sugars higher, regardless of how many carbs I eat. But my optimal carb level is < 70 g/day at the monent, combined with about 2000 calories of total food. I lost about 6 kg last year by using low carb.
Avatar f tn t even have a salad with tomatoes and cucumbers because they have sugar in them. I was so hungry one day that I had about 1 oz of orange juice and it was like I had swallowed poison. I went to a gastroenterologist and he is ordering lab work, a sonogram, and possible endoscopy, but offered no help about what I could eat. Any clues?
Avatar f tn Does anyone have a reaction on their palms to tomatoes? Sensitivity or allergy?
Avatar m tn It took some time to track down what actually causes the AF to kick off as fresh tomatoes and tomato paste products in glass containers never had any effect on me at all. Anyone experiencing problems with tomatoes and AF needs to do a search on "BPA tinned tomatoes heart problems" and read what reactions happen when the chemical that has leached from the lining of the tin into the food. This particular trigger for me was one of the last ones I have found.
Avatar f tn If your on a gd diet you just have to manage your protein and carbs. You can pop something in the oven and eat meat just watch the starch you pair with it. I usually eat a lot of meat since it's carb free to help feel me up and double up on veggies and keep my bread/rice/pasta/potatos/beans to very minimal.
8180827 tn?1396894232 I'm not sure why you're so worried about getting sick on a low carb diet... The only carbs you have to give up are sugar, white flour, rice, etc. Veggies and whole grains are the best sources of complex (good) carbs. Also make sure you get plenty of lean protein and adequate "good" fats.

5609181 tn?1375332372 What do we eat?! I've been starving for days cause I can't find anything to eat. I haven't eaten red meat in nearly ten years and carbs have always been a big part of my diet and now I have to significantly cut back and get frustrated when I go to eat something and then end up not eating. I know I need to be eating more than I am but I'm terrified of eating something I shouldn't be..
1220347 tn?1345428521 im cuban, and as you can guess, its mostly rice, beans, some kind of meat or egg, and a vegetable; usually tomatoes or avacato. the thing is, it gets boring, and during school days, its usually reheated in a microwave so its not very appealing. sometimes i skip dinner just to avoid it.
Avatar f tn m also having muscle aches in my thighs and arms at times. Could this be from the diet? Does potassium and magnesium help?
Avatar f tn For dinner I always did just meat and veggies and if I did have something with carbs I measured out exactly what would be like a quarter cup if that was the allowed carbs for the specific item. Loved taco salads just your meat and lettuce tomatoes olives advocado sour cream cheese and salsa it was pretty filling.
594189 tn?1386916607 I agree that you need to not eat simple carbs (white sugar, flour, rice, etc), but your body needs the complex carbs (whole grains, nuts, legumes, fruits, veggies, etc) in order to function properly. Complex carbs are one of the things that help fill us up and keep us feeling fuller longer. Protein also helps keep us feeling fuller.
193609 tn?1292180293 Losing weight is really just a simple math equation and comes down to calories in vs calories out. In order to lose weight, you have to burn more than you consume. People lose weight on low carb diets because whether or not they realize it, they're consuming less calories. High carb foods (cereal, potatoes, rice, pasta, sugary snacks) tend to be quite calorie dense so a very modest portion can end up being pretty caloric.
Avatar f tn Whole grain cereal Fruit and yogurt Whole grain toast with peanut butter, fruit Hard boiled egg As long as you stay with complex carbs, which are those in whole grains, veggies, fruits, such as apples pears, etc.you should be okay. The complex carbs are the ones that provide fiber to keep you feeling fuller longer. Also be sure to get plenty of protein with every meal. Eggs and whole grains are excellent sources of protein, as is dairy.
Avatar n tn There is NO ideal carb count. Each of us is different. How many carbs you can handle without having your BG go too high (140 in the USA) is different than it is for me (I eat under 50gr a day). Google "eat to your meter" that will tell you haw many carbs YOU can eat.
Avatar f tn Carbs are in bread, pasta, veggies, etc. They are everywhere and they are good for you, complex carbs.
Avatar f tn Most fruits people think of as fruits are almost all carb. If it's not fat or protein it's carbohydrate, which is why the whole concept of low carb diets is off. Vegetables are carbohydrates, but it wouldn't be healthy do without them. What low carb really means, or should mean, is avoiding simple carbs, such as sugar and white flower. Most fruits as we think of them are high in sugar, though it's not as quick to metabolize into simple sugar as processed cane sugar.
