5747555 tn?1408727657 So I'm trying to loose weight - and trying to do something lower/better in carbs to stave off Type 2 diabetes. My doctor swears this will work. But -- where do fruits like grapes (nature's original portable snack food) fit? Are they good or bad. And if the goal is to cut carbs, then does that mean no more grapes, apples, etc? Any suggestions.
Tbd Having done the research on grapes my statement still stands. Between the phytonutrients and resveratrol grapes have a significant impact on balancing both blood sugar levels and insulin regulation. One must only eat a few to reap their benefits.
Avatar m tn Good question. I am a red wine drinker and there are minute amounts of protein and only 1% carbs. No fats. I'd like to know too!
Avatar n tn Is there a list somewhere of foods and there carb value. Also which are good carbs and which are empty carbs? Gaining 1/4 of her body weight seems excessive.
Avatar f tn 30am just hungry for grapes. Luckily we had some!
Avatar f tn I've never heard of that.
Avatar f tn Did this person tell you to cut all carbs, or just simple carbs? Vegetables are carbs. Fruit are carbs. Whole grains are carbs. Beans are a combination of protein and carbs. I think what most would advise is to avoid white flour, bagels, sweets, anything that turns to sugar quickly in your system. That's why you're craving sugar -- carbs are necessary for energy, and sugar is quick energy but also stores as fat if not burned immediately. Same with processed carbs.
Avatar f tn org/posts/Weight-Loss--Dieting/cyst-near-ovaries/show/2510220 Remember, there are 2 types of carbs - there are the simple carbs, such as those found in sugar foods, such as fruit, and other sweet foods, along with the bread products I mentioned above that contain processed grains... those are breads, pasta, white rice, even white potatoes. The simple carbs break down quickly and spike your blood sugar levels, which in turn spikes your insulin levels - this is what you want to avoid.
Avatar f tn They gave me a chart to show what I could eat and how many grams of carbs were in the food, for example 12 grapes is 15g of carbs, stuff like that, then you have to take your blood sugar levels before you eat then 1 hour or something like that after you eat and record it, hope this helps!!
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I'm new to your Diabetes 2 Community but have been involved some with the MS community. I have Multiple Sclerosis but was diagnosed about 2 years ago with diabetes 2. When I first learned my blood sugar was high at 364, I immediately and without hesitation went on a diet and lost about 45 lbs. I did pretty good for a year and a half, but then I began eating sweets again. Plus, my best friend and Mom were very ill and dying, so I did a lot of stress eating.
790165 tn?1268836968 Carbs and sugars are bad for us who have PCOS. Like jilianporter said carbs get converted into sugars and for those who have PCOS have a hard time breaking those simply foods down. Things like white flour, pasta, bread are not BAD per say....but if you cannot rid those of your diet atleast eat the whole graines, whole wheat pasta (searving size, of course which is 2 ounces). Watch what types of fruit you eat, as some are worse then others.
Avatar f tn Dieting does not take a lot of starving, it takes a lot of changes. Water, exercising, counting calories, light on the simple carbs, like white bread, white rice. Plenty of fruits and vegetables, lean meats. You can make these changes all at once or one at a time. Whichever is easier for you. Give it at least three weeks to see your pants fit differently. You can do it. Do it for your health!
Avatar m tn Okay, this might be complicated or it might be simple. First, everyone, and I mean everyone, who gets a panic attack needs to have an extremely thorough exam with a doctor to rule out the many physiological conditions that can cause anxiety.
Avatar n tn Hi, Sugar spikes are not only related to sugar, but mostly to carbs. Even if she doesn't eat candies, cakes, etc, she will still have spikes with foods loaded in carbs like white breads, white pasta, some fruits that are naturally loaded in sugar like grapes, for example. Her family should watch for her diet and include whole grains instead of white flour, fruits that are low in natural sugar, check her blood sugar often and the most important thing: have a talk to a diabetes educator.
Avatar f tn 2. Avoid white carbs. By this I mean white bread, rice, pasta, all candies and sweets and processed foods. Avoid fruit juice. 3. Carbs should be whole grain and minimally processed. Also you need to be careful with portion control even for the whole grain carbs - probably limiting 1/2 - 1 cup of these / meal. 4. Instead you should focus on eating plenty of non-starchy veges, lean proteins, nuts, non-sweetened dairy.
Avatar n tn Your best bet is to cut way back on carbs, do one of those detox cleanses, and drink lots of water. I've also heard that drinking Grape Seed Extract with water, and wiping the itchy areas with Apple Cider vinegar helps. as a last ditch effect you might want to get something from the doctor, but the down side of this is a lot of medications will also kill off the good bacteria in your intestines, lweaving you with an imbalance.
7470604 tn?1396498950 Any veggies that you like, fruits just have much sugar that the can be causing you to gain a lot because sugar is carbs and to many carbs is bad but veggies have hardly any carbs. Green beans, broccoli, spinach, anything green is great for you. Just stay away from corn because that is more of a starch.
Avatar f tn Iv been off late been craving a glass of wine. N iv been told to stay away from ALL drinks. But im so craving.. god!!
Avatar f tn so I've just been told by my big sister that frozen grapes are the best thing in the world for a pregnant woman, been looking online and Im really looking forward to trying them tomorrow:) anybody else had them or eats stuff like this?
Avatar n tn I got in to see an Opthalmologist/Surgeon this morning. He performed an amputation procedure to extract the remaining "grapes". (Obviously, there is a medical term for these cysts, but I cannnot recall what it is - probably couldn't pronounce it anyway.) The doctor seemed satisfied that everything was removed, but said that recurrance is not out of the question. The "grapes" were blood filled cysts - not tumors - that had "stalks" (his term).
Avatar f tn I know I should know this - but I dont - duh. Is it ok to give my dogs white grapes?
Avatar n tn Snacking on some green grapes and cold ice water after my nap :)!!
Avatar f tn For example, go for a walk, jog, bike ride, and eat fruit for breakfast, salad for lunch, and 1 portion of chicken for dinner. No junk, no carbs, no sugars, if you want to lose weight. Also avoid cheese and nuts, anything high in fat, sugar, or carbs, will hold you back.
1399033 tn?1449587779 I made myself a fruit salad out of bananas....strawberries....grapes...
Avatar f tn You need carbs to live. Look up how carbs help you and how they don't. Make sure you are taking prenatals as well!
Avatar n tn Carbs raise BG so restricting carbs will help BG. when you say 6 units I assume you mean 6 exchanges which is 90 gr of carbs. If you take 250 mg at each meal that is 750 mg a day, the limit is 2400mg a day so you have room to go up on the Met. It can take 6 to 8 weeks for met to become fully effective.
