Common Questions and Answers about Carb loading marathon

Avatar m tn I was rather looking for any information regarding negative effects of exercise, supplements and alcohol on the microadenoma in my head, as not to aggravate it. Not just about carb and protein loading in general to gain muscle mass, and to use d-asparic acid to raise your bodys naturals test levels. That's just exercise science, consume more train more gain more.
Avatar n tn Cardiac disease is common in my family. In general, my risk factors are low. I've just been diagnosed enlarged prostate with a 1.5cm nodule. I'm 52 years old. I've read that lifestyle choices for prostate health are the same as for cardiac disease. But there seems to be two camps: One says low-carb "Atkins" syle is best, the other says low-fat "Ornish" style is best.
Avatar n tn I started out meds in December 2014 but after finding this sight and getting info from here, I changed my diet to low carb and got off the meds , so thanks so much for that help!
Avatar n tn m tired all the time and I eat as much as possible! I am taking protein shakes 5 times a day and carb loading. I stopped exercising (when I started losing) and I don't know what else to do! I had to quit my job before summer break so I lost a couple pay checks. My stomach is growing (as are my breasts) but everything else is going away. We were trying for 6 years to have this baby and sadly, she is eating me away. Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone ever heard of bed rest at 17 weeks?

1609927 tn?1298159732 None of the symptoms that I had experienced before have been with me and I am currently training for another marathon. Last weekend I completed a half marathon and I did pretty well through-out the entire race. This was the longest distance that I have run in over two years But let me frame my question. At the end of the race after I crossed the finish line I got that familiar extreme dizziness again.

Avatar n tn I have been training to walk a half marathon for the past month. I just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant and the half marathon is in Dec 09. Would it be okay to continue to walk the half marathon? I believe I will be 12 weeks pregnant.
Avatar n tn My husband is a newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetic. He just got out of the hospital with ketoacidosis and had an HA1C of 12.1. His sugars ranged from 160 - 380. We had this checked 6 months ago and everything came out "normal." Anyway, he is now on insulin, but we are having a hard time figuring out the whole diet thing. He has been put on a 75 carb/meal diet. He is 6'3" and weighed 150 lbs at the hospital, so he actually needs to put on weight.
Avatar f tn I have always been a competitive long distance runner and I am still running 10km on alternate days, three times a week, with an additional 20km run every fortnight and a full marathon every other month. In addition, I do weight training and I am on low-carb diet. I am terribly fatigued by the fevers and it is affecting my timing. I have been to the hospital for blood tests and x-rays, including tests for my thyroid, liver, kidneys, blood count etc. The doctor found nothing.
Avatar f tn What is the best way to treat mild faecal loading in the stomach and how long would it take to get it cured ? the symptoms of gas and bloating are really severe in my case.
Avatar f tn Obese adults followed one of the two diets for two years. Those on the low-carb diet had significantly higher cravings for carbohydrates and high-fat foods, although they were less bothered by hunger.
Avatar m tn Dr. W. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "fat and happy." Well, it's not just folklore. The same carbs that make you fat (and contribute to diabetes and other problems) also make you happy. It's simple science: Carbs allow more of the amino acid L-tryptophan to penetrate your brain. The L-tryptophan triggers your brain to make more serotonin, and the serotonin makes you feel happier. It's as simple as that!
Avatar f tn I was going to a trainer 5 days a week, ran a marathon in Oct and blew out my adrenals. I have been diagnosed with hypothyroid, been put on meds, still not losing weight. Hired a nutritionist, not eating any sugar and very low carb, still no weight loss. She has no idea what is happening, so I went to an Applied Kinesologist, have been off gluten and casein (protein in dairy milk) for 40 days, still no loss. I know we are getting closer to a solution, but my gosh, I feel for you.
Avatar f tn s also important is post-marathon and usually a race will have post-marathon feeds for runners but it goes beyond that. Here's a blurb on post-marathon food choices: Lack of Energy A general lack of energy in the week following marathon is perfectly usual. Try to eat meals comprising 50-60 per cent carbohydrates to replenish your glycogen reserves, and foods rich in protein to assist your body in repairing muscle and tissue.
Avatar f tn In a lot of illnesses (physical and mental health), there appears to be a "genetic loading" where people will have a certain amount of the required genetics but that a severe biopsychosocial trigger turns the genes "on." The heavier the genetic loading, the less severe the trigger needs to be...it's a huge start to see scientists finding these triggers.
Avatar m tn Approximately 3 years ago I was diagnosed as being B12 deficient, however, the cause is not known as I tested positive for the Intrinsic Factor AB. My doctor has prescribed shots for me every 2 weeks and this is not enough! I know my body well enough to know. At first this regimen was working, but now my symptoms are coming back (fatigue, brain fog, weight loss, imbalance, awkward gait).
1512574 tn?1342608485 Hi Sports Fans, I started Round 3 by loading on 26 Feb and 27 Feb and my 28 Feb weight after loading was 222.6 lbs. I have completed my first week and I currently weigh 213.0 lbs. That is a total of 9.6 lbs in my first week. I can not believe that I am only 13 lbs away from Onederland. Week 2 started with a big 1 lbs loss this morning and I am stoked.
Avatar f tn And the weeks on the 500 calorie diet trained me in portion control. When I did my loading days for my 2nd round, it was really hard to decide what to load with. Sweets and breads just didn't have the allure they used to have!
