can you take celexa with xanax

Yes, thankfully you can take both of these drugs together as they act on different pathways of the brain. Many times we would prescribe to two meds together because it takes Celexa about six weeks to really start working well. That being the case we need the xanax to help get pt's through that period of time. it is also nice for them to have a little extra for the hard day that will occur from time to time.

Has anyone taken Celexa? If so can you please share your experience with it. How many mg are you or did you take? Did it help with anxiety? How long was the adjustment period (did it increase your anxiety)? Did you gain or loss weight? Please share your experience with Celexa. Thank you for your advice!

t know if I should get off celexa or just deal with these side affects.2 years ago I was on 10 mg of celexa along with. 05 of Xanax. and never had this kinda problems.

so i have not had responses, and I really need to know if I can take these two together, as I am supposed to take the Celexa everyday but had to take the Xanax today for anxiety (and it REALLY helped) by the way, this is the first time I feel kind of better in 9 days. Also, is it normal to still have leg cramps after 9 days without Vic???

I've been on effexor (started @ 75mg and up to 225mg qd now) since 02 and it never made any difference in my PAT. Of course my arrhythmia was atrial whereas PVCs are ventricular. I did a quick scan of the web and the only references to SSRIs (which celexa and effexor are members along with several others) and palpitations list it as a side effect and not something helped.

Ask your doctor if you can take xanax with celexa. IDK if ativan would work for you cuz I know people who take celexa and take ativan when needed. I was on celexa for 4 years and it worked great. better than any other med I tried.

The first few days you might feel more anxious - but the xanax should help you get through this. Just keep in contact with your dr. the first week or so if you are concerned about any side-effects that pop up. They should be relatively mild, and they will go away. Hope this helps..

No one here should be advising you on medication. That's a doctor's role only. All people here should tell you is what worked for them and what didn't. But even that is no indication what may be good for you. There are no good or bad anti depressants. There are simply ones that will help you, as an individual, and those that do not. The ones that don't work for you will work for others else they would not be on the market. It sounds like you are self medicating.

Have any of you noticed a difference between 10 mg and 20 mg of Celexa. I took Celexa in the past and was on 20 mg. This time I'm only taking 10 mg and I still have mild anxiety/depression.

My doctor does know about my Celexa. My first guess it the Birth Control. If you take Xanax or Lunesta occauonally, can it cause anxiety when you aren't taking it? As if your body is addicted or something? I never want to be addicted.

I started taking Celexa 20mg 1mo ago and I notice a big difference. However, I'm not taking a benzo anymore b/c I felt like it was countering the positive effects of the Celexa by 'depressing' my CNS. I would take Xanax at night to sleep and found that when it wore off, I would have twice the anxiety as normal. I felt like the xanax was a 4hr bandaid, and the after-effects (dbl anxiety) just weren't worth it.

5mg/day) Should I be taking the Celexa in the morning with my pancake or should I take the klonopin to calm myself down then take the Celexa with some food later? I guess what I am trying to figure out is if the Celexa is making my anxiety worse by taking it during my morning anxiety attack.. As for is there something you can take to help ease withdrawal symptoms? That is something you need to discuss with your doctor. There might be something that can help you along in the process. It seems like you are doing a very gradual taper, so that is good. Don't increase your Klonopin yourself. Ask your doctor if that might be an option for you while you are coming off the Celexa.

I saw on your previous post that flexiril may help with the muscle spasms is it safe to take this with Xanax? And how do I know when to take what ? Funny how I'll endlessly take Percocet ( never more than half a 10 mg at a time ) but I'm scared to take Anyfhing else...

Hi Shay~ Yes,I think you should talk to the doctor and tell him the Celexa is not agreeing with you. It is an antidepressant. You can also tell him about the anxiety. I don't know if he'll give you Xanax. He may worry about cross addiction which is a concern. But,hear what he/she has to say.

Just want to add that although Celexa isn't specifically approved for anxiety, neither was Prozac when it first came out, but it did help many people with anxiety. So has Celexa. Specific approvals are more for patentability than anything else -- to get a copycat drug patented and approved by FDA you have to show it treats something different than previous medications. So Prozac got approval for depression, but was always used for anxiety as well.

For me, I had to take a 1/2 of xanax or so a day (along with the celexa) for the 1st 2 weeks when my anxiety built up. I haven't felt the need to take a xanax in quite a while so the celexa is working. I think you'll probablly take the buspar daily....and have a few xanax as needed until your anxiety is under control. Hope this helps.

celexa is very calming so I can see where the doc thinks it would help with anxiety. Is you doc a psychiatrist or reg doc. apsychiatrist would be the best to help with this.

I have only been on xanax 2 months and celexa is a switch from lexapro due to insurance. I been on lexapro/celexa 2 years. If anyone can give me the proper and safe way to do this it would be great! Please and thanks.

My thoughts are to ween off the xanax and take celexa for the anxity issues (that had been prescribed a few months ago since the health issues) try the celebrex and the muscle relaxer. My question is I don't think you are supposed to take those two together. Didn't know if I weened and took xanax at 5 or 6 and then the muscle relaxer at 10 if this would be an issue till i'm off the xanax. I will start to bring in the celexa with it.

Dude first of all take the celexa and get off the xanax you shouldn't be drinking at all with either one but it would be easier with the celexa. Secondly, if you don't feel like anything is working you need to go back to the doctor and have them take another look, and be sure to tell them about your lifestyle so they can give you the right kind of drug for your anxiety. With stress in your life, 20 mg of celexa is not enough. It is not wearing off but you apparently need more. Ask your doctor to give you 30 mg and then after 2-3 weeks 40 mg. Then within a month you will know if it works for you.
