Yes, thankfully you can take both of these drugs together as they act on different pathways of the brain. Many times we would prescribe to two meds together because it takes Celexa about six weeks to really start working well. That being the case we need the xanax to help get pt's through that period of time. it is also nice for them to have a little extra for the hard day that will occur from time to time.

I take celexa and urinate frequently (get up 3 to 4 times a night). I rarely drink while taking it. Do you really need the Xanax? It is very hard to get off that med. I would stop taking it if I were you. It is very addictive. So many people wish they never started taking it.

At one point, I was put on a daily dose of Xanax and within a couple weeks, I realized I had to increase the dose and/or frequency to maintain the effect. I stopped taking it daily, and for the past 10 years, I have only taken it on rare occasions... Not sure if an anti-depressant would be helpful, but that's a great question for the doctor when he gets back.

Hi. I would suggest taking the klonopin ASAP when you wake up (which I believe is similiar to Xanax?). If so, I am currently going through panic attacks concurrently for 5 days & I have to take Xanax every 6 hours to ward them off although I HATE that I have to take it! I am also taking Lexapro for a couple years & take it @ night before I go to bed.

I have had several surgies including a partial mystecomy..bit in the face at my job by a german shephard and had to have plastic surgery.. 2 surgeries on my foot due to MRSA infection last year. I was on it. I can say it brought me back to life. I felt good but had sexual side effects so I quit and tried many others. Sexual side effects never went away so i might go back to celexa again. My mother takes it works fine for her and my ex sister-inlaw took it and it healed her anxiety. However it didn't work for my brother. So from the people I know it is 3v1 in favor. But online I read many good and bad stories about it.

Hello I am new to this site and so glad that I found it so maybe someone can lead me in the right direction for help. I have been haveing really bad panic attacks for about a year now and they are getting worse. My gp put me on celexa which has not helped. I have medullary sponge kidney with chronic pain when the pain gets real bad My attacks get bad I feel like the pain will never stop and I am just going to die.

When I was in college I was in a long distance relationship that brought on a lot of stress. I took 20 mg of Celexa and within a month or so I had some relief. I have been on Celexa for over a year and I lowered it to see if I could be ok (depression) without it. But my depression came back. So now I'm upping it back to the dose I was origionally on. I started taking Celexa 20mg 1mo ago and I notice a big difference. However, I'm not taking a benzo anymore b/c I felt like it was countering the positive effects of the Celexa by 'depressing' my CNS. I went to a pain management clinic for over 15 years but I cannot find a new clinic that will accept me because I take Xanax AND I CANNOT COME OFF THEM I have tried several times. My psychiatrist has even written a letter to some clinics stating I cannot come off of the Xanax but they still refuse to take me and want to put me on Suboxone and I do not know what to do. I take 1mg xanax 3 times a day...last one at night with a 49mg celexa ...I take 25mg luvox every morning. I SUFFER from deep depression and deeper anxiety. Mind races my luvox helps during the day with my mind racing...and celexa and xanax at night for insomnia. Xanax cause I can't even pump gas without feeling anxiety.

I have been on many different medications such as effexor, paxil, prestique and lastly pexeva. My doctor wants me to go on xanax plus a mood stabilizer pexeva which I have been on for 2 weeks. My anxiety is so bad I can't think straight and when I have tried to come off of a mood stabilizer before it has made me very ill. I know it is a big step, it is the only thing I haven't tried. I am six weeks today, with my third child. I suffer from PTSD, and I am currently taking Xanax 0.5mg twice daily. Since I found out, I tried taking it on a PRN basis...this was NOT helping me. Hello I am going to go off a 3 year 4 -6 a day Percocet habit on Friday alone .. I have to do this for myself my children and my new job that I start in two weeks . My dr recently prescribed me Xanax and celexa for anxiety and depression but I was to scared to tell him about the pills I have been taking ... I have not started the celexa because I am scared it will interact with the Percocet and haven't taken Amy Xanax because i haven't needed it ..
