Avatar n tn If there was no trauma or injury, it can be attributed to being overweight, excessive alcohol intake, blood clot in the leg, leg infection and structural problems like veins in the legs cannot properly pump blood back to the heart. If it persists, it is best that you refrain from drinking alcohol at this point and have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation and to rule out heart, kidney, or liver failure. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn The problem is that when trying to do extreme movements like sprinting and swinging leg for football, i get a kind of neural pain in my left lower back/just above buttock I have seen 2 physios, had injections in my back where the doctor thought a nerve end could be being affected, and seen a sports physio who got my core stability and leg muscles in good shape. I thought it was feeling better thanks to the exercises I had been doing for the sports physio. .
Avatar n tn Tibia is the shin bone that bears most of the weight and the Fibula is the splint bone located on the outside of the lower leg. In the case of a closed fracture there may be swelling and discolouration due to the large amounts of blood that emanate from a fractured bone. The usual healing time for a mid-shaft Tibia and Fibula fracture treated with cast immobilisation is 12 to 16 weeks.
Avatar f tn The limp recurred again at the end of 2009 when he resumed football and by February 2010 it became very noticable. Coupled with the limp, he had stomach pains. He went to doctors and specialists and had various tests done including ultrasound, MRI, bone scan, CAT scan and more xrays. At first he was diagnosed with appendicitis but I requested a 2nd opinion as he had no fever, vomiting or severe stomach pain, they diagnosed him with IBS.
Avatar m tn Hello, Im 17 years old, almost 18 and when i was 14 i had broken my tibia and fibula in a football game and gotten a titanium rod placed in my tibia. i left it in following the doctors advice and ever since then i have had really bad leg pain and shin splints whenever i would run, sometimes even walk. i play running back and im starting to limp when i sprint and its making me quite slow. the pain is bad. If i were to get the rod removed would this pain most likely go away?

Avatar m tn Hi, I'm 55 years old and was playing football with my 3 year old grandson. I threw the ball to him and he started to fall backwards so I lunged toward him and put my arms around him so he wouldn't bang his head on the concrete floor and kind of turned to the side so I would take the brunt of the fall..
Avatar m tn On 18 APR 2010, my little girl was in a 4 wheeler accident. The nose end of the vehicle landed on her right lower leg, crushing the Tibia and Fracturing the Fibula. She was Med-Flighted the 40+ miles to Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children in Alabama. I would have preferred that she had been flown to UAB in Birmingham, Alabama but she was losing a lot of blood, so good thinking on behalf of the Med Flight Crew. Anyway, she spent 8 hours in the Pediatric Trauma/ER before seeing a surgeon...
Avatar m tn I am a 36 yr old football player and recently I was hit on the right shoulder. Right away I felt like hot water running down my back, then burning, and stinging. It is numb and sore but it does not feel broken.
Avatar f tn suffered broken ankle in May 2010. Had surgery with plate and screws to fix. 2 weeks no weight bareing, 8 + weeks in camwalker boot - weight bearing as tolerated. Then moved to right ankle element brace and cane. Have completed 2 sessions of PT. Have chronic pain i ... [More] n foot/ankle with every step I take. Both my foot/leg are still swollen and discolored. Taking pain meds daily. Recently returned to work (4 hours per day sitting).
Avatar f tn Makata, only a doctor can tell you if you need surgery. As I said earlier, recovery usually involves RICE, and it will take as long as your body needs. The pain and swelling will go down. At that time, you might consider physical therapy to help strengthen your leg muscles, and further reduce inflammation. My son had the ACL repair surgery only to blow out his new ACL within a year, again playing football -- he was on a football scholarship. That was about 10 years go.
1664773 tn?1321483545 Some of you know me as the girl who had chiari decompression surgery in March of 2010 and that plays football for her high school "boys" teams. I have not been on her in a while, due to things being pretty good.
Avatar f tn I am going to have surgery quite soon for my herniated/broken disc. I wondered how long if anyone has had this, how long is recovery? I mean how long for pain? WIll I feel great right away and be able to do normal things? Now, a relative who thinks they are the only one with pain and mostly lies, so I don't know whether to believe them or not said our grandfather had the surgery and was up literally dancing right after surgery that day.
Avatar m tn He said it would reduce in due course and spotted the bruising leading a path down to my ankle. He said swimming would be ok but did not advise football. Of course I go and play football that night and now the fluid has increased and got much "tighter", I can barely bend the knee now and have trouble walking.

Avatar m tn I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone. He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.
