Avatar f tn Makata, only a doctor can tell you if you need surgery. As I said earlier, recovery usually involves RICE, and it will take as long as your body needs. The pain and swelling will go down. At that time, you might consider physical therapy to help strengthen your leg muscles, and further reduce inflammation. My son had the ACL repair surgery only to blow out his new ACL within a year, again playing football -- he was on a football scholarship. That was about 10 years go.
Avatar n tn Hello all. I was playing football Sunday and although I didn't experience any injury while playing, I felt tightness later that night. I always stretch before and after. The next morning when I woke up I noticed some clicking behind my knee right above my calf. It's right in the center. Now a few days later, I'm feeling a lot of calf numbness and tingling. It's been tough falling asleep because of this. I've had previous problems with this leg before...
Avatar m tn i am not able to bent my leg outwards because of the previous injury.so i am not able to play football because while hitting a shot the leg has to bend slightly outwards and then it hurts a lot. so i want to know whether my leg will ever heal or not and will i ever be able to play football?if yes, then how?
Avatar f tn So, in October, I was playing football and I hurt my thumb. It bent all the way back, and since then its hurt to bend it. It also cracks often, and pops constantly. How can I tell if it's sprained, jammed or broken and when should I get it checked out?
Avatar f tn Hi, pls kindly help me out. on the 24th of December 2016, i went to play football so i overstretched my leg high up to bring the ball down, after which i had a sharp pain on my knee. i went to the hospital and an xray was performed . doctors report was 1. the intercondylar eminences are spiked 2. ostophyte is seen on the inferior border of the patella 3. bones are well mineralised. i went for another xray 5weeks after and the result was 1. intercondylar eminences are spiked 2.
Avatar n tn Tibia is the shin bone that bears most of the weight and the Fibula is the splint bone located on the outside of the lower leg. In the case of a closed fracture there may be swelling and discolouration due to the large amounts of blood that emanate from a fractured bone. The usual healing time for a mid-shaft Tibia and Fibula fracture treated with cast immobilisation is 12 to 16 weeks.
Avatar f tn I wanted him seen ASAP because of the broken rear leg. The x-rays showed that the injury was about a month old and that it was already healed. It wasn't just a little break but the femur was actually snapped off. In order to fix it, they'd have to do a surgery that costs over $1500. Or... amputation (around $450- including pain meds). My question is--- do we HAVE to do anything? When we found him he wouldn't walk on the leg and I thought it was a new injury.
Avatar n tn they make me get violent. i had an football injury back in 2004 an concusion.i really need help what should i do?.
Avatar m tn My 1st brother hurt his foot wen he was doing lessons in defending himself he couldn't walk on it for 6 weeks it took him 6 weeks to recover. Now my other brother hurt his foot during football training a week ago he couldn't walk on it, it is still swollen though but the bruising has gone down the hospital said it'd take 2 weeks for him to recover but he has got a lump there so it will take him 3-4 weeks or maybe longer to get better.
1898820 tn?1321462044 Prior to my condition, I was playing 5 a side football once a week sometimes twice a week. Seven months or so ago, I seem to strain a muscle in my lower stomach whilst asleep or stretching high for something which still has not recovered. This has led to inflamed groins, on both sides. I've tried anti-inflammatory pain killers (neurofen) to help to see if I can play football again, but unfortunately 20 minutes in and I can not run anymore.
Avatar f tn I immediately went to the doctor for x-rays. The x-rays did not show that the ankle was broken. When I left the doctor's office, I barely made it to the car, it hurt so bad and I absolutely couldn't walk on it. The doctor told me to get crutches, ice and elevate it for a few days and if it didn't get better, call him and he would refer me to an orthopedic doctor. Well, I've did the treatment and have been using crutches since the injury.
Avatar m tn I was in an accident where i dislocated my leg which in turn bruised my sciatic nerve in my left leg. My neuroligist has been telling me for the past 6mths since the accident that this nerve will regrow(have no movment in foot feeling is coming back slowly in foot and lower leg). Why can i not find any information about this on the net. Does the nerve which is the largest nerve in the body really regrow and if so how long does it take and what to do to ease the pain?

Avatar n tn My boyfriend was playing football a few week ago and we was hit hard during play and complained of knee pains. He went to the doctor and they said he had a bruised acl and there was nothing that could really be done. Is that really true is there nothing that can be done, and if so how long does it take to heal, and will his leg ever be the same so he can be athletically active again?
Avatar m tn I injury my right ankle in a football game two months ago. I was grabbed from behind by the shoulder pads and the player landed on my calf and pinned it to the ground. As we slid into the sidelines my ankle was turned outwards and I felt a lot of popping up and down the lateral side of my shin from my ankle up to about 6 or 7 inches above my ankle. When I sat up from the whole thing my ankle was still turned outwards and I could not move it. I couldn't place any weight on it.
Avatar n tn I, too, lost my sense of smell after the paramedics banged me on the head. ( They also broke my leg, but a broken leg is trivial compared to a loss of smell.) Too me, it seems everything emits a strange, slightly unpleasant effluvia. It has been 8 months since the EMTs drugged me with 24 shots of fenatyl in a 3-hour period causing me to remain unconscious for the next 8 days and to awake with a broken leg and no sense of smell. The EMTs also gave me Versed and Narcan.
Avatar m tn i don think i have broken my leg because i can walk around.nd when i touch and feel my leg i dont think its broken.htere is easy and free movement just that it is swollen.is it possible to have swellin even if there is no fracture? in case there is swelling is it wise to imerse my leg in warm water as there are bruises on my leg and getting scared that water might go in. THANK YOU.
Avatar f tn Since the mri arthogram it feels like someone is shoving something hard and hot where they did the arthogram into the hip. From the beginning of the injury the injured leg has been colder than the other. Wondering what could be going on?
