Avatar m tn I was in an accident where i dislocated my leg which in turn bruised my sciatic nerve in my left leg. My neuroligist has been telling me for the past 6mths since the accident that this nerve will regrow(have no movment in foot feeling is coming back slowly in foot and lower leg). Why can i not find any information about this on the net. Does the nerve which is the largest nerve in the body really regrow and if so how long does it take and what to do to ease the pain?
Avatar m tn The problem is that when trying to do extreme movements like sprinting and swinging leg for football, i get a kind of neural pain in my left lower back/just above buttock I have seen 2 physios, had injections in my back where the doctor thought a nerve end could be being affected, and seen a sports physio who got my core stability and leg muscles in good shape. I thought it was feeling better thanks to the exercises I had been doing for the sports physio. .
Avatar n tn Tibia is the shin bone that bears most of the weight and the Fibula is the splint bone located on the outside of the lower leg. In the case of a closed fracture there may be swelling and discolouration due to the large amounts of blood that emanate from a fractured bone. The usual healing time for a mid-shaft Tibia and Fibula fracture treated with cast immobilisation is 12 to 16 weeks.
Avatar f tn Has anyone broken their pelvis during pregnancy? I broke mine in a car accident years ago and never had any problems with my first baby. This baby dropped at 28wks and my dr says he is almost certain this baby has broken it again. I'm scheduled for csection next week, which is a huge relief with the pain, but he said it could take 6-12wks to heal. Was wondering what other peoples experience was? Did it get better after delivery?
Avatar m tn my baby presented with a fractured femur due to an accident. this was missed twice by doctors due to no swelling or bruising. they constantly rotated her legs and stretched them out again to check her hips before fracture was dianosed. then they put a cast on on the bottom of her leg instead of the top. would all of these mistakes have made the fracture worse than it originally was.
1542537 tn?1293207098 Hi, broken bones take a varying amount of time to heal, mostly depending upon the type of bone broken, the age of the person, and the way in which the bone is broken. Larger broken bones, for example the bones in the thigh, or both bones of leg would take a great deal longer to heal, usually six weeks to three months in the average healthy adult. Begin physical therapy as soon as is practical. That will help.
Avatar m tn I was in a car crash a year ago, they xray-ed my wrist and said that it was fine. After two months of pain I went back and they did another, and they said that it had been broken the whole time. Sometimes the fractures do not show right away do to inflammation from the accident.
Avatar m tn I have been in a terrible car accident that left me with a broken left elbow, wrist, femur and crushed right foot. I have recovered from all but the right foot pain requires me to take 60mg of Norco a day. I'am at a point in the recovery were 2 out of 3 doctors want to remove my leg from the knee down to relieve me of the pain and a hope for a better life. I cant come to the fact of losing my right leg at this point due to the mental pressure the accident has left on me.
Avatar f tn When I was 31 y.o. I had an accident that left me w/ a broken femur ... leading up to days later a “ titanium rod “ being inserted into the broken femur . The initial days , etc. obvious moments of pain happened , over the years since then w/ the break eventually being healed = very ..,... minimal pain . In getting older = 64 y.o. now within the past couple of years thereabouts pain is reaccuring more & more , causing pain also in my hips and other leg .

Avatar n tn He has been in severe pain on one side of his leg for nearly a year since the accident. He figured it was normal. Two days ago he goes to a different doc because he fell in the driveway and twisted the same knee around pretty bad. The doc does an xray and CT and tells him he has a fracture in his knee, but since he didn't do the surgery he needs to go see original doc. Today we go to original doc and he says to us that it is not broken. We are dumbfounded.

Avatar m tn Hello, Im 17 years old, almost 18 and when i was 14 i had broken my tibia and fibula in a football game and gotten a titanium rod placed in my tibia. i left it in following the doctors advice and ever since then i have had really bad leg pain and shin splints whenever i would run, sometimes even walk. i play running back and im starting to limp when i sprint and its making me quite slow. the pain is bad. If i were to get the rod removed would this pain most likely go away?

My injuries were, a broken Clavicle (which was treated with a plate and 12 screws) A punctured lung and laserated liver. 11 broken ribs (6 of which were plated. With a total of 42 screws currently holding them together) And last, not least.... A broken pelvis. I am writing you hoping you still read this, desperate for your answers!! I do not recall doing anything... physically to disrupt the placement of the screws. I noticed the bump tho.
Avatar m tn I broke my leg in a motorcycle accident 4 months ago just had the hardware removed and now in a hard cast for a month hope to start walking soon but worried about constant pain in the Marine Corps so running and being on my feet is kind of my job any words of encouragement
Avatar m tn I was in an accident 8 years ago which left me with a broken femur. The doctor put a rod in my leg to help with the break but said that it was a little too long for my leg, and that I would probably have to have it removed. Soon after my leg healed, I was sent to prison and spent 5 years there. While in prison I worked out with passion, I ran, and played sports all day long. I trained with weights, often having up to 405lbs on my back for squats, and 495lbs for deadlifts....

Avatar m tn thing is, dusty, if you had broken your leg playing football you would have had to have treatment. Anxiety is a horrible illness and needs all the same careful attention as something physical. Don't be ashamed, don't be scared and go and get that toothache in your head sorted.
Avatar m tn On Aug. 21 of this year, I was involved in a motorcycle accident where I suffered a broken pelvis, as it was my pelvis and genitals that took the brunt of the impact. In the days following the accident during my hospital stay, my genitals had swollen to the size of a grape fruit, discolored black and were very painful. This eventually went down and the discoloration went away.
