Ptosis is the medical term for sagging or drooping. Breastfeeding
is often blamed for drooping breasts
, but it's not breastfeeding itself that causes breast ptosis: sagging is actually the result of pregnancy and other influences.
During pregnancy, your breasts undergo changes and grow larger to prepare for breastfeeding your baby. After the baby is born, breast milk fills your breasts, stretching the skin even more.
