Avatar f tn Recently I was given biaxin by my family doctor not aware of the possible interaction and I began to retain after only two of them. Since then I have not been able to get my blood pressure under control again. I was on avalide, toprol xl, procardia xl along with the norpace and had to take potassium because it would go too low for the norpace. I have not been able to take avalide since the episode and am now on Avapro which works bettermost of the time than using avalide.
Avatar m tn ve seen no blood. I am a 55y/o male.
492329 tn?1290883385 My husband's BP was 152/100, but it stays down now with HCTZ which is a water pill that brings blood pressure down. His doctor wasn't too overly concerned about the blood pressure, but said that he would not want to see it high for 15 years because it can wear out the heart muscle. Are you taking your blood pressure at home three times a day, morning, noon, and night and recording it? That would be a good idea and then you can take it with you to the doctor to show.

Avatar n tn ve been on Lopressor for years to keep my heart rate down and Avalide for blood pressure. Then in November, my arrthymia worsen. So after about 6 weeks of playing with my Lopressor dosage, my doctor cut the lopressor and put me on Cardizem which is a calcium channel blocker like verapamil. My heart rate became much worse...very rapid like around 120-140....after 3 days of this, I begged to get back on Lopressor so we did and it's back to how it was ...no better no worse....
Avatar f tn There are a few things that you can do to increase your blood pressure to see if it makes you feel better (of course, be sure your blood pressure isnt high before doing any of these). The easiest thing to do is to drink a ton of water, 4+ liters a day, this will build up your blood volume and your blood pressure, I always feel better when my pressure is 100/60 as opposed to 70/30.
1373852 tn?1307843048 t cause neuropathy or lung problemes because I have had critical illness polyneuropathy that was resolved by ivig therapy and I also have illness induced asthma and high blood pressure so I need a blood pressure medicine thats not going to make me sick.
Avatar m tn Intense exercise, such as strength training, weight lifting etc can cause a dramatic increase in blood pressure at the time of training - is the Avalide for BP? And by coatose, do you mean really spaced out, sleepy? I take Coversil and Toprol, but they are to slow the heart rate, and block the affect of hormones on it (like adrenalin). I feel really tired on them, and more dizzy (than when sedentary) if I try to exercise, but dont have the same symptoms as you described, so am just curious...
Avatar f tn They have blood pressure medicine that is safe during pregnancy I started on blood pressure medicine at 5 weeks now fourteen and baby is fine have had three ultrasounds already
Avatar m tn NO YOUR NOT!!!! More than likely the reason for your high blood pressure is due to the alcohol, and stress that you been under for the last 2 years. It's hard I know to realize what is coming first, the alcohol or the stress. Go back to your Dr's and explain (if you can) what is going on - they are here to help us. As for your panic attacks, do they come on after or before your drinking?
Avatar f tn In a recent issue of Archives of Internal Medicine, Benetos and colleagues[1] reported that the control of systolic blood pressure was more important than the control of diastolic blood pressure in hypertensive men. They further stated that diastolic blood pressure was of little value in predicting future cardiovascular risk.

172715 tn?1285494490 Should I stop taking my blood pressure medicine if it seems under control when I miss a pill? I forgot to take my pill one morning and went to a doctors appt. in the afternoon. My pressure was 118/78 which was normal. How long does the medicine stay in your system if you stop taking it or forget to take it. Without it, before I started any meds, my pressure was usually 142/94. I have chronic pain, depression, HBP and I am 75lbs overweight (and more chronic illness') .
Avatar n tn s , Taking low dose aspirin daily and a diruretic (off of Avalide for blood pressure) and take 1/4 of a 0.5mg of klonopin 2 times a day(am/pm) for the anxiety from this experience. Am presently wearing a Holter monitor for PVC's for 10 days to see if PVC's are a serious problem.. Learning to not be scared and trying to live each day as it comes. Working with a Doc that actually gives a darn.
Avatar m tn I am 20 years old eight months pregnant and after suffering from extream heat issues and light headiness i was told to check my blood pressure which was at 147/35 than checking my heart rate was at 103 per min. 1243333 tn?1296446902 Hi I'm a 51 year old female diagnosed with extensive premature coronary heart disease (11 Stents), anemia, gerd and high blood pressure 2 1/1 years ago, I'm on numerous bp meds and even so my bp is extremely high (240/140 last Doc appointment), they have termed it malignant, at the last doc appointment she told me I'm going to have a stroke and possible another heart attack, I have repeatedly told all my doc's that I am having major issue with the meds they make me physically il
Avatar f tn The benefits of BP meds could outweigh any risks of high blood pressure. I know that I will have to take BP meds when im pregnant. You should really consult your physician to see if this applies in your case. Aldomet is a BP med that is considered safe in pregnancy. I was on BP meds when I miscarried but had nothing to do with it. BP can be a serious problem in pregnancy and should not be ignored.

Avatar f tn s not super high but she put me on 81 mg baby asprin instead of blood pressure medicine. That is supposed to help keep it under control. She also gave me this special meal plan. You should ask if they have anything like that available for you.
Avatar f tn No significant health problems other than mild hypertension treated with Avalide. My potassium was low (I think due to the HCTZ in the Avalide). I don't drink, smoke or take any recreational drugs. I saw a neurologist, who says the MRI is normal, EEG is not (temporal lobe irregularities). He's on vacation...I'm traveling alot and can't see him for another 2 weeks. Is this a problem I need to see someone about before then?
Avatar n tn Read the prescription of the medicine you are taking. Birth control pills could cause some problems especially if you are 35+, smoking, over weight, not active, bad diet, or if you already have blood circulation problems. Before you start taking them you need to make sure you are healthy. And you need to get detailed instructions from the doctor who prescribed you these pills, let him know about you symptoms.
Avatar f tn t get it and try not to stress it raises your blood pressure, did they put you on a blood pressure medicine to lower it?
