Avatar n tn ve been on Lopressor for years to keep my heart rate down and Avalide for blood pressure. Then in November, my arrthymia worsen. So after about 6 weeks of playing with my Lopressor dosage, my doctor cut the lopressor and put me on Cardizem which is a calcium channel blocker like verapamil. My heart rate became much worse...very rapid like around 120-140....after 3 days of this, I begged to get back on Lopressor so we did and it's back to how it was ...no better no worse....
Avatar f tn Recently I was given biaxin by my family doctor not aware of the possible interaction and I began to retain after only two of them. Since then I have not been able to get my blood pressure under control again. I was on avalide, toprol xl, procardia xl along with the norpace and had to take potassium because it would go too low for the norpace. I have not been able to take avalide since the episode and am now on Avapro which works bettermost of the time than using avalide.

492329 tn?1290883385 My husband's BP was 152/100, but it stays down now with HCTZ which is a water pill that brings blood pressure down. His doctor wasn't too overly concerned about the blood pressure, but said that he would not want to see it high for 15 years because it can wear out the heart muscle. Are you taking your blood pressure at home three times a day, morning, noon, and night and recording it? That would be a good idea and then you can take it with you to the doctor to show.
Avatar m tn NO YOUR NOT!!!! More than likely the reason for your high blood pressure is due to the alcohol, and stress that you been under for the last 2 years. It's hard I know to realize what is coming first, the alcohol or the stress. Go back to your Dr's and explain (if you can) what is going on - they are here to help us. As for your panic attacks, do they come on after or before your drinking?
Avatar m tn Intense exercise, such as strength training, weight lifting etc can cause a dramatic increase in blood pressure at the time of training - is the Avalide for BP? And by coatose, do you mean really spaced out, sleepy? I take Coversil and Toprol, but they are to slow the heart rate, and block the affect of hormones on it (like adrenalin). I feel really tired on them, and more dizzy (than when sedentary) if I try to exercise, but dont have the same symptoms as you described, so am just curious...
Avatar n tn s supposed to, and the goes down the front of my pants.I am taking high blood pressure medication - Avalide. Also I am taking vytorin , Foradil, and spirvia. I drink a lot water at night because my mouth is so dry, from the last two items.I work every day and have had a very active sex life. Again , thanks for your help. melg007 Ps Before the sugery I was taking uroxatrol, but I'm not taking it now.
Avatar m tn I think you should go back to your doctor and tell him that the medication you are taking is not agreeing with you. There are so many different kinds of high blood pressure medications that surely he can find one that agrees with you. Also, did he tell you that you can control your blood pressure by diet and exercise? There is no reason for you to feel this way when there are so many medicines for your problem.
Avatar f tn I would personally look into the natural ways of doing this, at least research them, as medication for high blood pressure, as with so much medication, can have consequences that are as bad as the high blood pressure, such as pulmonary problems. Again, as always, we have to do our homework and then make a choice.
Avatar n tn Keep a morning evening record of your blood pressure for a few days. If your blood pressure remains high after medication, then there are two possibilities. Either the medication is not suiting you. OR there is some underlying cause which needs to be eliminated.
4784669 tn?1360768722 I take blood pressure medication. I had high blood pressure prior to getting pregnant but stopped taking my medication when I found out that i was pregnant until week 19. I ended up in the ER because it was too high. The dr prescribed medication then and I have been taking it every day since then. I am now 37 weeks 4 days and will be induced in 9 days. The medication has controlled it all of this time and I haven't had any problems with my blood pressure since taking the meds.
Avatar n tn I have high blood pressure, had it before I got pregnant. Im on medication but wanted to try and breastfeed after I had her/him.. will I beable to?
Avatar n tn Sounds to me like you don't need blood pressure medication. I was put on it one time during a stressful time in my life. I resolved that and now I dont take anything. Have you tried not taking it and seeing what your BP does? Might be the wrong medication for you.

Avatar m tn My blood pressure medication has just been increased to 160mg (do not know what it is called). My problem is that i play squash and by the third game i start getting dizzie-- i took my blood pressure after each game and it is as follows: 118/79 149 pulse, 121/107 149 pulse, 118/72 147 pulse, 108/71 pulse 147.... I also played soccer on the weekend and in the afternoon when lying down i kept getting dizzie when getting up. I find that my blood pressure goes down and down when exercising...
4948466 tn?1392168046 I take my blood pressure using a wrist cuff "Life Source" device and my blood pressure varies considerably during the day. I try to sit down and rest a couple of minutes before taking the readings but always big swings. Occasionally 165/90 and a couple of hours later 113/71. I take 3 readings each time. I do the same at the drug store and get similar varied results. 63 years old with a history of past high cholesterol, normal now. Why the big swings?
Avatar f tn A sudden drop in blood pressure due to medication can cause headaches for a few days while your body adjusts. If it persists, I would do as alleycat2 suggests, ask for a different brand.
Avatar f tn my mother was asked to stop taking plavix by her cardiologist and since then has had severe headaches and increased blood pressure. She is already taking 2 blood pressure medications to control blood pressure, micardis and nifedipine xl. Do you think her increased bp is due to her coming off of plavix? She does have a pace maker and stints.
Avatar n tn I am 17 weeks pregnant and this week my OB prescribed Labatelol for my blood pressure. He said it's a low dose of 100mg twice a day. My blood pressure hasn't been horrible as I do check it at home often. I feel like it's only when I go in to the office that it is high. Has anyone taken this medication during pregnancy?
Avatar f tn Blood pressure that has been ranging from 110/70 to 115/75 which is your case, is not something that you should worry about. The normal according to American Heart Association is less than 120 mmHg for systolic (upper number) and less than 80 mmHg diastolic (lower number). However, if your blood pressure goes lower than 80/50 mmHg, accompanied by dizziness, you should be concerned. Hypotension happens when your BP is lower than 90/60 mmHg.

Avatar n tn my mother is 75 and on blood pressure medication and her feet are so swollen they look like balloons is this the cause of her swollen feet.
1807280 tn?1318607576 I ran out of my blood pressure meds & don't have the $ to refill them. Now I'm having problems breathing, real short of breath & dizzy. What should or can I do?
Avatar f tn No significant health problems other than mild hypertension treated with Avalide. My potassium was low (I think due to the HCTZ in the Avalide). I don't drink, smoke or take any recreational drugs. I saw a neurologist, who says the MRI is normal, EEG is not (temporal lobe irregularities). He's on vacation...I'm traveling alot and can't see him for another 2 weeks. Is this a problem I need to see someone about before then?
