Common Questions and Answers about Avapro blood pressure medication

Avatar f tn To be sure this medication is helping your condition, your blood pressure will need to be checked on a regular basis. Keep using this medication even if you feel fine. High blood pressure often has no symptoms. Before taking Avapro rule out kidney disease; liver disease; congestive heart failure; or if you are dehydrated. If you have any of these conditions, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take this medication. Take care.
Avatar n tn I had been taking 150 mg of avapro for 10 years for high blood pressure. I recently lost 25 pounds and was able to maintain my blood pressure on 75 mg. in fact with a home machine my blood pressure is consistently low. It never goes above 106/70 and most often is 90-97/70-75. Would it be safe to stop taking the medication to see if I can keep the pressure from getting high? Or would it be safer to cut the pill in half and if so, for how long?
Avatar n tn Fourteen months ago the aneurism was measured at 5.2cm, when I was prescribed to go onto blood pressure medication and lipids medications to help reduce the pressure in the artery. Three months ago, I had further scans (echocardiograph) to be told that the aneurism had shrunk back to 4.8cm. Surely, as the aneurism really couldn't "shrink" on its own due to tissue damage, one of the tests taken 11 months apart must be wrong.
1384238 tn?1286028762 I have had high blood pressure for 15 yrs. Treated with 3 different meds (HCTZ, Avapro and Atenolol), suddenly, approximately 4 weeks ago I began getting dizzy spells quite frequently. My pressure during these spells is quite low, often 90/60 or a bit lower. The doc has done CT scan, no brain tumor, blood work, nothing remarkable, urinalysis, nada, she keeps throwing things like Lupus, Parkinson's, ALS at me and now I am terrified!

Avatar m tn One day I ate some white rice, sugar suddenly fall to 8 mmol, then even a tiny piece of roti was dropping suddenly. Blood pressure increased, Took avapro, started eating more protein. But I did not get any medical support. Family doctor says, I do not know, hospital says go to family doctor. Family doctor did not give any specialist. However after 5 months, sugar settled between 8 mmol to 11 mmol without medicine. But I was eating less carb, mostly vegetable and rotein.

Avatar m tn He said he could tell that based on the wall thickness I have had a history of high blood pressure, which is correct, since I was previously on a weak diuretic in my 30s by my GP. My question is, how significant is the moderately high wall thickness of the LV to my overall health, given all other tests being normal? Also, will the LV wall thickness abate. If so by how much? Any advice would be really appreciated.

548642 tn?1266179652 Hey Rocker, You mention a blood pressure med called Micardis, I thought someone on this board said they were taking blood pressure meds while on TX. I may be looking to treat soon and I just started back on Micardis. I have boderline high BP so I could stop if it is not recommended. Do you have a link I could refer to about the meds you posted about?
Avatar f tn and could not get to supraventricular arrythmia because of loss of blood pressure.. I was in intensive care for a couple of days to keep blood pressure before doctor put me on norpace cr 150 twice a day. I have been on it ever since and am now 71 years old. Recently I was given biaxin by my family doctor not aware of the possible interaction and I began to retain after only two of them. Since then I have not been able to get my blood pressure under control again.
Avatar m tn I think you should go back to your doctor and tell him that the medication you are taking is not agreeing with you. There are so many different kinds of high blood pressure medications that surely he can find one that agrees with you. Also, did he tell you that you can control your blood pressure by diet and exercise? There is no reason for you to feel this way when there are so many medicines for your problem.
Avatar f tn I would personally look into the natural ways of doing this, at least research them, as medication for high blood pressure, as with so much medication, can have consequences that are as bad as the high blood pressure, such as pulmonary problems. Again, as always, we have to do our homework and then make a choice.
Avatar n tn Keep a morning evening record of your blood pressure for a few days. If your blood pressure remains high after medication, then there are two possibilities. Either the medication is not suiting you. OR there is some underlying cause which needs to be eliminated.
4784669 tn?1360768722 I take blood pressure medication. I had high blood pressure prior to getting pregnant but stopped taking my medication when I found out that i was pregnant until week 19. I ended up in the ER because it was too high. The dr prescribed medication then and I have been taking it every day since then. I am now 37 weeks 4 days and will be induced in 9 days. The medication has controlled it all of this time and I haven't had any problems with my blood pressure since taking the meds.
Avatar f tn I take avapro for blood pressure, immovane for sleep and now to quell the anxiety. I have frequent ophthalmic migraines (all sparkly lights, no pain) and have a pain migraine every two weeks or so. I can't get anyone to help me and with every week I am that much less functioning. Oh, I've also gained 40 lbs in six months; mostly belly fat. Please!! Any thoughts? Suggestions? Home remedies while I wait to get a doc to take me seriously?
Avatar n tn I have high blood pressure, had it before I got pregnant. Im on medication but wanted to try and breastfeed after I had her/him.. will I beable to?
Avatar n tn Sounds to me like you don't need blood pressure medication. I was put on it one time during a stressful time in my life. I resolved that and now I dont take anything. Have you tried not taking it and seeing what your BP does? Might be the wrong medication for you.
Avatar m tn My blood pressure medication has just been increased to 160mg (do not know what it is called). My problem is that i play squash and by the third game i start getting dizzie-- i took my blood pressure after each game and it is as follows: 118/79 149 pulse, 121/107 149 pulse, 118/72 147 pulse, 108/71 pulse 147.... I also played soccer on the weekend and in the afternoon when lying down i kept getting dizzie when getting up. I find that my blood pressure goes down and down when exercising...
4948466 tn?1392168046 I take my blood pressure using a wrist cuff "Life Source" device and my blood pressure varies considerably during the day. I try to sit down and rest a couple of minutes before taking the readings but always big swings. Occasionally 165/90 and a couple of hours later 113/71. I take 3 readings each time. I do the same at the drug store and get similar varied results. 63 years old with a history of past high cholesterol, normal now. Why the big swings?
Avatar f tn A sudden drop in blood pressure due to medication can cause headaches for a few days while your body adjusts. If it persists, I would do as alleycat2 suggests, ask for a different brand.
Avatar f tn my mother was asked to stop taking plavix by her cardiologist and since then has had severe headaches and increased blood pressure. She is already taking 2 blood pressure medications to control blood pressure, micardis and nifedipine xl. Do you think her increased bp is due to her coming off of plavix? She does have a pace maker and stints.
Avatar n tn I am 17 weeks pregnant and this week my OB prescribed Labatelol for my blood pressure. He said it's a low dose of 100mg twice a day. My blood pressure hasn't been horrible as I do check it at home often. I feel like it's only when I go in to the office that it is high. Has anyone taken this medication during pregnancy?
Avatar f tn Blood pressure that has been ranging from 110/70 to 115/75 which is your case, is not something that you should worry about. The normal according to American Heart Association is less than 120 mmHg for systolic (upper number) and less than 80 mmHg diastolic (lower number). However, if your blood pressure goes lower than 80/50 mmHg, accompanied by dizziness, you should be concerned. Hypotension happens when your BP is lower than 90/60 mmHg.
