Avatar m tn ve tried to stop cold-turkey, I often have episodes of low blood sugar (shakes, sweats, confusion), so I end up back drinking sodas for fear of having another episode. I am guessing that I have been drinking sodas for so long that my body has increased the insulin production to keep up and if I stop, I have all that extra insulin in my body which causes the low blood sugar. Is there a way to ween myself off of sodas without worrying about having a hypoglycemic episode?

Avatar f tn 5 packets of Stevia is the equivalent sweetness of 10 teaspoons of sugar. Stevia is 200 times sweeter than sugar and does not raise your blood sugar or cause cravings. Stevia tastes pretty good and is natural, not artificial. Thanks for the hibiscus tea suggestion -- I might try it sometime.
Avatar f tn I believe elevated blood sugar is a possible side effect, but all you can do is have your doctor monitor your blood sugar closely, as I am sure he will want to do for you. Healthy diet and exercise is recommended for everyone to help ward off diabetes, and especially for those with a family history -- even without taking the Abilify into consideration. I hope it works well for you.
Avatar f tn I had my first experience with Solu-Medrol infusion in early August. My relapse had just started and was worsening daily-right before I was due to start training for my new job! The immediate side-effects were quite obvious and well documented. I'm having less success finding out about long-term side-effects-in particular, rapid weight gain. I noticed the bloating quite early in my treatment, especially in my face and abdomen.
Avatar f tn The first day I ate nothing after I took the pill and only started feeling hungry when it was wearing off in time for the night pill. I felt spacey all day from not eating (like low blood sugar) but I had no appetite whatsoever. When I took the night pill, I was up the whole night. It's almost like a shot of adrenaline. It is worrying me. I took my morning pill and the same thing happen.

Avatar f tn I want to go off norpace and try ternormin again since that is the first medication I was on when this first started in 1981. I was on tambacor until after the ablation but had a lot of side effects from it. My doctor says he thinks I am okay since I have had nothing but pvc's since the ablation and then only when potassium was low or blood pressure was too high. I am very concerned about the blood pressure and my resting heart rate is 54 to 60. It is not under any control at all.
1806721 tn?1554333407 My questipn, however, is about whether statin drugs will raise blood sugar, causing pre-diabetes or diabetes? My paternal grandma has type 1 and my maternal uncle has type 2 diabetes. In the past 6 months, besides rapid weight loss, I also experienced fatigue, weakness, cold feet, dizziness, sudden drop of blood pressure, increased thirst and trips to restroom, low grade fever on and off with left side abdominal pain.
Avatar m tn Initially it has slightly reduced my heart palpitations which are less forceful, stopped some irregular or PACs and cut out the dreaming side effect of Coreg. However recently I have noticed that the color of my blood (taken to test blood sugar) is a distinct chocolate-brown color similar to whenever I have had to use Nitro tabs/patches for angina attacks. I have also been affected by regular bouts of diarrhea.

My side effects were: racing heart - I lost about 5 lbs in 3 days. skin sensitive to the touch. feeling like I was beat up with a baseball bat on my back. shaking. and feeling like my achilles tendon was going to rip off. Just try to relax and take it easy. I hope all goes good for you.
Avatar f tn You are taking antihyperglycemics and thyroid drugs and you should get evaluated for levels of thyroid and blood sugar regularly. You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. You should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing. Covering the affected area with bandages and dressings can help protect the skin and prevent scratching.
