1139187 tn?1355706647 Doctor switched me from natural thyroid 30mg (with T4 & T3) to Tirosint 25mg (T4 only) and my hypo symptoms have really increased including loud ringing in ears 24/7, brain-fog/loop- headed nausea and mild constant headache. That's all in addition to the huge crashing fatigue and othe hypo stuff... Labs in 4 weeks if I survive that long...
Avatar n tn Otherwise, the Levo has helped me, but everyone is different. Many people do better on Nature Thyroid or Armour because it is made from pigs and not a synthetic like Levo. I am actually considering switching if the Levo doesn't work better after my next bump. However, there is a shortage of the natural stuff right now, so you might be stuck on Levo until the shortage is resolved.
Avatar n tn At work we have a saying that we use when something drives us crazy..."no sense, makes sense" Your mom is 80, took Armour 40 yrs, wasn't having problems so when she moved the dr changed her meds (because there was no armour or he doesn't like armour?)...."ns,ms" Armour wasn't available??? What? Did she move to another planet??? (Sorry for the sarcasm but drs make me very out of patience when they act stupid) "ns,ms" My guess is...
Avatar m tn Been on tirosint 112 mcg for about 3 weeks after being taking off armour thyroid. These symptoms I get every morning a couple of hours after taking medicine. Headache, neck pain, leg cramps, warm weird feeling in face, some tightness in throat. I've been having a hard time with most thyroid meds. not sure why but the doctors not sure either. It also messes with my appetite and sometimes causes nausea and vomiting depending on how bad the headaches get.
551981 tn?1223225624 d call the doctor who did those tests and request today to go back on the Armour Thyroid. The T3 in Armour will have a faster effect than just increasing your current T4 dose. You are seriously low in both Free T3 and Free T4. I am amazed your doctor did not respond and do something about your meds and dosage. What was your prior Armour dosage?
822804 tn?1298226302 3) Natural Dessicated (pig thyroid) is the last step to try. Armour and Nature Throid brands were reformulated, they still work for some people and dont work for othere anymore. ERFA brand from Canada is like the origional Armour. If you follow these steps, within time you will find someway to feel better. It takes a L o n g time when changing meds. I did all the above over a course of 1 1/2 years, now on ERFA.
Avatar n tn so Ive been trying to figure out whether I have an inner ear issue.....that is causing the faint/nausea..or if its the thyroid...I have had LOTS of test done and bloodwork...and besides the thyroid...nothing shows up...I haven't had testing at ENT...I have no insurance...I was even wondering if I was swinging into hyper??? meds to high or something? or does it look like something like ears....I would describe the faint feeling for what it is..
Avatar f tn I was on levothyroxin and did not do well. I had read so much about getting on armour thyroid that I was glad when the new doc ordered armour. Now I have been reading about the new formulation and am wondering if I would do better with getting my levels up if I switched to the ERFA? Will my levels ever get where they need to be if I stay on the Armour? there is so much to consider here. It sounds like you can easily have your RX changed to a different pharmacy that would provide the ERFA.
Avatar f tn My (now former!) doctor started me on Armour Thyroid several years ago, although my lab work indicated there was no problem with my thyroid. About a year ago she increased my dosage from 30mg to 60mg, and wanted me to increase to 90mg and then 120mg. When I took 90mg, I started having heart palpitations and frequent sweats, so I went back to 60mg. For the last 4 months, I've had debilitating diarrhea, nausea, weakness, sweats, shakiness, sleeplessness, etc.
327369 tn?1326119908 )  He said he did not think it was my thyroid but wanted me to try Armour since I have only taken T4 meds. He said it may help me or may not and we can try and switch back if things get worse.  He gave me a script for 60 of Armour and said I could start taking it immediately.  Can I do this with levels below?  I am a tad bit prone to anxiety and feeling hyper at random times so I am a little concerned.  Also....I am currently taking 63 mcg of Tirosint.
Avatar f tn Supporting the adrenals should be an ongoing thing for a thyroid patient. Especially since you recently went back on Armour. Your neurologist is not going to understand this most likely. You can start supporting your adrenals by taking a good Vit B complex twice a day. (I would take a liquid for easy absorption) Also important for the adrenals is Vit C (I take 3,000 mg per day), and you can also find an adrenal adaptogen which does not contain any stimulants.
Avatar f tn What thyroid medication are you taking? Is it Armour or NatureThroid. Certainly appears to be a desiccated med of some type... Rule of thumb (where most of us feel best) is to have FT4 at around mid range (50%); yours is only at 35% of its range. Rule of thumb for FT3 is upper half to upper third of its range; yours is at 81% of its range, which is somewhat higher than you probably really need it.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm going to start with the side effect part of my question- then share some other details to see if anyone has comments too: I'm on Armour and have been experiencing dizziness, nausea, periods of heavy sweats--yet I'm only on 30 mg and I don't feel like typical hyper experiences I have had. Has anyone gone through this? My endo believes I may be reacting to the contents of Armour, she's more a synthetics fan and is asking if I want to switch back to Levo.
Avatar n tn Your still feeling bad because you are being undertreated on Armour. This is why most patients that try Armour don't continue on it, because a lot of drs do not know how to dosage properly. Optimum levels for people on Armour are very different than synthetics such as synthroid. Your TSH will actually make you look in the hyper range, Free T3 will be mid to high normal range and t4 will be mid range, THEN you should be feeling much better.
1018337 tn?1251567540 I have tried synthroid years ago and it didn't help at all, infact I was more tired, so I took myself off and haven't been on meds for years. I just started with a new GP and we spoke about armour thyroid meds, I have started, it has been about 1 1/2 weeks. Don't really feel a change yet. Wondering how other people feel about the armour and your experiences.
2033435 tn?1329943508 He read the detailed medical history I took on my iPad, asked me the type of questions I read about here, and went on to prescribe Armour thyroid (30 MG) to be taken twice a day (breakfast and lunch - why so close?).
Avatar f tn Hi I was wondering if anyone was switched to levothyroxine because of the shortage and had sucess with the transition. I was switched to levothyroxine 150 from being on Armour Thyroid 105 for about 2 years and had hyper symptoms and was was switched to levothyroxine 125 and still had hyper symptoms and labs. So the doctor decreased me to 100 and after 3 weeks was very tired, depressed, anxious and weak.
Avatar n tn A low T4 is normal with Armour as there is more T3 in the pig thyroid than the human -- the most important lab to follow remains the TSH -- should not go to <0.2.
Avatar n tn TSH will look slightly hyper, Free T4 should me at least mid normal range, and Free T3 should look mid normal to high normal range (some even go a little above the high normal range) Anything below these and you are not optimal. I am sorry to say that your doctor is leaving you hypo and feeling sick. My goodness even the new range of TSH .30-3.0 shows you hypo! Go find a thyroid specialist so you can get to feeling better! Please do not settle for being left sick......
Avatar f tn Hi, Which one do you think is better, synthroid which is artificial hormone or armour thyroid which is bioidentical. Is anyone taking armour thyroid? Can anyone compare it's effect.
Avatar f tn What is your daily dosage of Armour Thyroid? How long have you been on that dosage/ Do you defer your morning Armour dosage until after the blood draw for thyroid tests? What were your typical thyroid test results (and reference ranges) from the time before starting on the thyroid medication? What was the diagnosed cause of your hypothyroidism? Was it primary (Hashi's), or central hypothyroidism?
Avatar n tn In would make sense to me then that you may want to consider taking a thyroid medication that does not require you to make your stomach process it . I know you can consider taking Armour thyroid which you can take it sublingually. Here is a bit of a statement I took on below. I suffered horrible stomach acid and since I started taking my Armour this way it has made a world of difference for me. Forest Labs did not make Armour to be sublingual.
Avatar n tn Hard to have any suggestions without more info from you. What dosage of Armour Thyroid daily? What are these severe symptoms? Please post your thyroid test results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Armour thyroid with satisfactory results. Unfortunately, I can't find a pharmacy that has it in stock. My M.D. has suggested that I begin taking Synthroid and I am scared that my symptoms may return. I am taking 90mg of Armour and my prescription is for 150mcg of Synthroid. If I have no choice and must change, how do you suggest I make the change.
Avatar f tn I take 240 mg of Armour Thyroid every day (had my thyroid removed 12 years ago). I feel like I am an invalid. Just a mess. Can anyone help me evaluate what is happening to me?
