Avatar f tn The doctor cutting your dosage in half makes no sense to me. Both NatureThroid and Armour Thyroid are made from desiccated porcine thyroid. Both contain the same amount of T4 and T3 per grain: 38 mcg of T4 and 9 mcg of T3. You can look at the following links and see their inactive ingredients. http://www.pdr.net/full-prescribing-information/Nature-Throid-thyroid-496 https://www.drugs.com/pro/armour-thyroid.
Avatar f tn 20 ulU/ml cortisol (am) 544 range171-536 nmol/L What do you think of these numbers? Is there a difference in Armour thyroid and Nature thyroid? Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn I read something similar on another thyroid board. But one person called a sales rep at Armour and they posted back that it wasn't true. So who knows, right! I personally don't have any experience with other NDT's but from memory of their posts some are on Naturethroid and Thyroid Gold. I am sure there are others...... This came from your pharmacist or the pharmacist assistant? Keep me updated!
535882 tn?1396576685 Acella does a 65 mg tablet. The desiccated thyroid is speculated to come from the same manufactured source as do Armour and Naturethroid. Each 65 mg grain contains 38 mg T4 and 9 mcg T3 (plus unmeasured amounts of T2, T1 and calcitonin). The inactive ingredients are calcium stearate, dextrose monohydrate, maltodextrin and mineral oil.
Avatar f tn I was on levothyroxin and did not do well. I had read so much about getting on armour thyroid that I was glad when the new doc ordered armour. Now I have been reading about the new formulation and am wondering if I would do better with getting my levels up if I switched to the ERFA? Will my levels ever get where they need to be if I stay on the Armour? there is so much to consider here. It sounds like you can easily have your RX changed to a different pharmacy that would provide the ERFA.
Avatar f tn There is a new natural thyroid medication called NP thyroid that is almost the same ingredients as the original armour thyroid used to be before it went through two different formula changes. It is not supposed to cause some of the side effects that armour can cause.
393685 tn?1425812522 Here is the information I received today from both RLC labs ( the makers of Naturethroid) and the FDA. YES!!! - I really talked to a live person with both of them:) Now remember - this is ONLY the most up to date information I have. It sounded a bit hairy on the phone with the FDA - but I'll explain below. First - both organizations were the best people I have spoken to in a long time. 1. RLC labs....... "There is NO ceasing of desiccated thyroid medication.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if it is okay to take homeopathic OTC drugs while taking Armour? I am not talking about homeopathic to aide in Thyroid function, but for other reasons, like anxiety, cough, headache or whatever the problem may be at the the time. I just bought some "nerve tonic" for my PMS. Are there any herbs or homeopathic remedies I need to stay away from while on Armour Thyroid?
Avatar f tn Were you taking a different thyroid med before the switch? If so, what was the name and daily dosage? What is your Armour dosage? Armour is the brand name of the med made by one manufacturer. Don't know how it could be changed to another manufacturer. What is the site you mentioned. I'd like to read the info.
798555 tn?1292787551 They contain both tetraiodothyronine sodium (T4 levothyroxine) and triiodothyronine sodium (T3 liothyronine) providing 38 mcg levothyroxine (T4) and 9 mcg liothyronine (T3) per grain of thyroid (or per 65 mg of the labeled amount of thyroid). The inactive ingredients are calcium stearate, dextrose monohydrate, maltodextrin and mineral oil. Its not FDA approved. Armour IS now aren't they? So its the same amount of T's as Armour is, but total grain is 65mg, not 60.
Avatar f tn The ingredient is Thyroid Extract USP powder which is the same thyroid extract used in Armour Thyroid tablets. A compounding pharmacist makes up the prescription in store. I could see the powder through the clear capsule.
Avatar n tn I know it is made with USA thyroid ingredients but the fillers are not the same as Armour, right? Also the ratio of hormone is different.
Avatar m tn "Biotics Research...glandular products are prepared strictly from USDA inspected bovine and porcine tissues and are certified BSE-free. GTA-Forte II contains 20 milligrams of porcine thyroid glandular (T3) along with 10 milligrams of zinc and I milligram of copper which are not present in GTA." We periodically are asked about supplements and their actual thyroid hormone content.
739097 tn?1232231492 Hi I had my entire Thyroid gland surgically removed in 2006, basically because my needle biopsy results came back questionable for cancer. My final diagnosis was Hashimoto's Disease. Unfortunately, I now have no thyroid gland and have to live with the replacement challenges. I was on Armour thyroid replacement but never could get adjusted to a normal state, I was either hypo or hyper never within a normal realm. Since 2006, I have recently been diagnosed with RA and a breast lesion.
Avatar f tn Armour Thyroid contains both thyroid hormones, T3 and T4. T4 is the "storage" form of the thyroid hormones, and it is very slow acting. It takes weeks to build in your blood and raise your levels. T3 (the "active" form of the thyroid hormones), on the other hand, is very fast acting, and it can take some getting used to. All thyroid meds can cause reactions initially, especially if you are over 50, have been hypo for a while or have a heart arrhythmia.
Avatar f tn My physician changed me from Levothyroxin to Armour Thyroid as I was having severe joint pain. I had been on 125mcg of the Levothyroxin for a couple of years. When I was switched she put me on Armour thyroid 15mg for 2 weeks then 30 mg thereafter.(Not nearly a high enough dose compared to my dose of Levothyroxin) I remained on that dose for about 3 months and then went in to get my lab work which included Thyroid profile and Cholesterol Profile.
Avatar m tn Nutri-West is an excellent company with excellent formulas. All the naturopaths and chiros I know use their products. This is a very good adrenal support formula and you shouldn't have any problems with it, including with your armour. It will compliment your armour to keep your adrenals healthy. I would make sure you are taking it twice a day. Make sure you take it at least 2 hrs after your armour, so it doesn't interfere with absorption of meds.
Avatar f tn I am being referred to an endocrinologist, who knows when. I have been researching Armour Thyroid and in the Consumer Affairs Website it mentioned that in March of this year people started really having problems. Funny, that is when I started going down hill. I believe they did another reformulation. Is there anything you can suggest until I get my endo. appointment? I feel rotten. Have just about every thyroid symptom. What tests do you suggest I take to get down to the problem?
